Easy Fridge Organization on a Budget

I gave in after watching many #tiktokorganizing videos! Is it practical to organize your fridge all in clear containers? Not overly, but it certainly is pretty! My whole family loves our organized fridge, and it really does make our food so much more appetizing.

Another thought with the containers in the fridge is they are containers assigned to the food- so if it’s full you don’t buy more things like ...cheese...but if the container is empty then you know that’s what you need to buy for the week/month...container storage applies here too!

Thanks Cas! You are so fun 😄 I did this about a year ago and love it! Our favorite bin is the largest bin and it is for “LEFTOVERS” kept on the top shelf... when it gets full I stop cooking YAY!... until there is room for more leftovers to fit in the container. The real joy is that I don’t even need to know what’s in there cuz I just serve it up and call it a hodge-podge meal😁

Yes, leaving leftovers in the fridge IS a science experiment! That’s why we put ours in the freezer and use them as “ready meals” 😁

I first saw this done on the home edit show on Netflix and I never understood it! But now as more people do it I realize it’s cause it just makes your food look appealing! Even just decluttering my cupboards and having things lined up like a store makes me feel good opening them up and seeing it all organized and decluttered 😌 haha

Most fridge manuals tell you to leave space between items so air can circulate to keep things cold. Stacking containers stops it working correctly. So it may look good, but if the food gets too warm, you could get food poisoning instead. If you do use stacked containers use a separate fridge thermometer, to make sure your food remains at the optimum cold temperature. I love organising, but I want to avoid food poisoning more!

You are so funny. "Chill bro, this is like a hobby for me." I started using fridge containers a couple of years ago. It makes it so much easier to find everything, even for kids and husband, lol. My favorite fridge bin is the sandwich bin (bread, mayo, cheese, lunch meat, etc all together). I can pull out the bin and whip up school lunches so much easier.

Nice fridge organization! Let me know how the lettuce keeps that way. I would probably put them in the crisper or use tape over the holes on the side of those boxes. But if it works, then I would definitely try this out.

Hi Cas. Yes this did make a huge difference! FYI: you can box up all your pretty labelled bins and ship them back to your house when you vacate the airbnb. UPS will even box them up for you if you ship thru them. So, don't feel like you have to leave them all behind. I am sure they don't weigh very much so it really shouldn't be expensive to ship them back home. Best wishes, and thanks for taking on this task so we could all see how beautiful it looks! 1st I love your new TV show I have been dying to watch it. I loved the part when you said theres not enough storage solutions for that many clothes. Side note my husband omg has way too many clothes. I have a lot too, but yea. As far as the fridge I have a lot of these bins and my fridge it just doesn't work. My kids even yes my 10 year old will spill it. Lol I love your leftovers thoughts. Side note I used to use my home printer to make labels and my family thought I was crazy. My husband would say the same thing about buying organizing containers for us and our move that may not happen for a whole year. We're planning on building our forever home, but haven't even dug the basement hole because building materials are so high. I bought some of the fridge trays because of those TikTok videos. I have to admit I love it. I also started making my own fruit cups for my kids and they’re eating more fruit than ever, none of it is staying in the crisper til it molds! I started putting sodas in the crisper drawers because those won’t go to waste 😂

I’ve always put my drinks wherever but lately I had this realization that HEAT RISES. So I’ve started putting my drinks on the bottom shelf, glass jarred fruits and veggies the next one up and leaving the top for leftovers and things that either need to cook or are small and get used up quickly. This also helps me see everything since I can look at the bottom of the shelf and see what’s hiding haha

Just upping the value of the place for the next people coming along, nice! And, by the way, I do eat leftovers and I’m sometimes really really glad to have some in my fridge because that helps the next meal planning which is usually a spontaneous thing, be easier.

we eat our leftovers, mostly because I gave up trying to pack it away in tupperware after our kids lost enough of the lids. So now I pack it into smaller pots and sauce pans if I can, or if it’s a lot of something I use cling wrap to seal it and flip the lid upside down to weigh down the wrap and then stick it front and center. That, and sticking as much fresh produce in the fridge door as I can, has helped a lot with cutting down on food waste in our home 😊

I totally agree about leftovers. No one eats them. This organization makes sense to eat your food because it looks good and is good for you than eating out or making enough food for your family. This organization will entice you thanks for the motivation to keep your refrigerator clean, motivation to eat and be healthy at home with a beautiful filled refrigerator, and it looks great when your open it. I never thought of labeling the refrigerator only the containers great idea. Love it 😍
