I gotta hand it to your videos. I have been turning for some Time and finally bought the OneWay wolverine system (very similar to the varigrind). These videos give me a legend to the map. Thank you for these videos on prep and use of woodturners tooling. This has made my experience 100%better and enjoyable and the outcome is far better having used it. The raptor system is definitely worth the money and I’ve bought straight from CSUSA specifically….and I look forward to the candy. 😁

After watching this video I'm glad I purchased the ProGrind sharpening system !

Thank you. Just bought the same setup. But I had to raise the grinder not the tool holder. And that was per instruction s. But I like the system.

Hmmm.... That is a Wolverine sharpening system with a couple changes to the Vari-Grind jig and gloss paint. The 23 degree preset indent is nice. The web-site features both this system and the Wolverine by Oneway

I'm very interested in your sharpening system after watching this video, but I am curious about the model of grinder being used and the part numbers of the grinding wheels. Most grinders for sale lean more towards knife sharpening and are limited in lathe sharpening information.

Can you cover how you installed the Norton 3x wheel on the Rikon 80-808 1HP grinder? I have bought this set up, including your recommended bushings, but I cannot get the lock nut to engage with the threads fully. Is it ok to add another 5/8” washer on one side as a spacer ?
@CraftSuppliesUSA Жыл бұрын
Hey Sandra, Yes on some grinders you may need to add an extra washer. That is perfectly acceptable as they are machined washers and won't flex. If you need any more in-depth help please reach out to us at 1-800-551-8876. Thank you!

The setup for this and the wolverine are identical. We also have a PDF of instructions for setup here: woodturnerscatalog.com/docs/raptor.pdf

I need this whole system (ultimate) plus an 8" Dimond wheel with 5/8 arbor. How much
@Rebel96687 ай бұрын
Instead of paying that much for a "slow-speed" grinder I think I'll just slow down my regular grinder to match the rpm's of the slow speed one. All it takes is a 20 amp 0-130v variac and an rpm app on my phone. Variacs are less than $100 and I already have one myself.

How about sharpening the Ellsworth bowl gouge?
@CraftSuppliesUSA Жыл бұрын
To sharpen an Ellsworth grind you can use the specific tool holder with a Wolverine system or you can adjust the leg angle on the Vari-grind to get the same grind. Give us a call at 800-551-8876 and we can walk you through it.

@@CraftSuppliesUSA The question what's the horizontal distance using either the Ellsworth jig or the Vari-grind? Have the 60 degree raptor tool.

Hi Mike. I thinking about sharpening my own tools. Should I get a grinding wheel that's 320 or 600 grit? Or is that too fine?
@CraftSuppliesUSA Жыл бұрын
Hey Michael, I prefer the 180 grit CBN because its the sweet spot between cutting speed and edge sharpness. The 320 and 600 are in my opinion too fine, resulting in the cutting edge dulling too quickly.

@@CraftSuppliesUSA Thanks Mike. I just ordered the wheel with the washers at Craft Supplies. Thanks for the advice.

What grits were your two wheels?
@CraftSuppliesUSA2 жыл бұрын
The blue wheel is a Norton 3x wheel in 80 grit. The other is the Raptor CBN in 180 grit.

Does it work with 6” wheels
@CraftSuppliesUSA Жыл бұрын
Yes, it does. You just need to use the 1-3/4" protrusion gauge.
