I love the way you did this! The way I'd seen this done was sewing the blocks together and then using some sort of wacky square to cut into the squares already sewn! Since I've never made it yet, I don't know which would be easiest. But I love how your quilt turned out! So pretty! And I love the quilt design and thread color you chose! Now I want to do one really soon!

The pattern I use is called a no waste windmill. There is a bunch-ola of waste on the other method though it’s a little simpler. Thanks for watching and have fun making yours.❤️💕❤️😊❣️🐥

There is a template from Twisted Sisters in a couple of sizes that will give you the same results. You just sew four squares together and cut again using the Twisted Sisters template. I use my Gemini cutter to cut up to 6 squares at a time. Great time saver

I just realized while watching this wonderful video that I have an Accuquilt die that can cut these pieces - BUT the block size is smaller than your original 6” starting piece. SO - perhaps I can practice making these windmills with a smaller block and less fabric (I know I’ll mess up as I do have a depth perception problem!!!). Then I can use your Washi tape hint and make it the original size using 6” cut pieces! My mind does tend to range over many things while watching, so wondering how to make this quilt with larger starting squares. Is there a math ratio thing going on to figure how to cut the windmill parts?? I love math so it’s no problem! I love hearts - my husband was born on Valentine’s Day and exactly 30 years later on Valentine’s Day our son was born!! Fabulous quilt!!!

Yes, those can be made any size you want. I’ve made a really tiny mini one one time that was a lot of fun but it was hard to because it was so tiny experiment and make your quilt all about you. Thanks for watching.😊♥️🐥
