Fig Preserves, or Fig Jam, depending on how smooth you like it, is so easy to make! This recipe requires no pectin, very few ingredients, and is the perfect homemade solution for all those fresh figs your fig tree (or impulse grocery purchase) keeps dropping on you. In this video I walk through my easy simple homemade fig preserve recipe and show the viewers how you too can make this jam at home. Follow along and let me know what you think!

Ingredients:
2 Lbs. Figs (cut into small chunks)
1/2 Cup of Sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 lemon's juice
Supplies:

working stove

We have three fig trees so we pick a lot at harvest time and give them away. So we tried your recipe, and it turned out really really well, but our figs had more water content than yours and I noticed that as I watched your video, so we still added a cup of water, but we had to simmer it down an extra 15 minutes to burn off some of the liquid to bring it to it consistency that looked like yours. So the next time I make it, I may only add a half a cup of water and this way I only have to reduce it for 15 or 20 minutes. All in all it tastes great and so easy to make. Thank you!!

Our second review since discovering this recipe which is so easy, we have cooked down 15 lbs of figs and we have been giving out 8oz jars to all the neighbors and receiving positive reviews

I normally buy fig jam, I’m going to have to try to this recipe for preserves. I love to eat it along with my favorite cheese and crackers.

Thanks, Greg! It will blow your mind how easy and tasty this is. I'm lucky as we have a fig tree in the family, but they should be in season through Summer at the grocery stores and farmer's markets. Let me know if you get around to trying it out!

can you do it with unripe end of season figs

Hi Ann, I personally haven’t tried that but don’t see why it wouldn’t work? It may take a little longer to cook down and soften unripe fruit, but surely it will get to it eventually. Report back if you end up giving it a try and thanks so much for watching!

i don't like the seeds. I run it through a sieve and then add allulose and dates to cook it down to a jam.❤❤
