Hey man, thanks for this video. I am going to be steelhead fishing for the first time in a few weeks and this was really helpful. My question to you is; If I use a barrel swivel to attach my main line (braided) to my leader line (mono), would that negate the use for the bobber stopper? Since I know my bobber won't pass up through the barrel swivel. Or, should I just use only the braided line? It is a whirlpool area, murky water this time of year. Thank you!

Would you be able to add a second bobber stop but below your last bead? This being could you use that to basically use that setup as a fixed float if you wanted to?

With this type of set up are you not able to adjust the height of the bobber, if you wanted your bait to sink longer? Or is the bobber stopper knot able to slide up and down the line?

You were talking about Barbour size and weight size make sure they match so you would use a half ounce weight and 1/2 ounce bobber? Or a quarter ounce weight and a quarter ounce Barber ?

I’ve been trying this set up on the south fork of the snake here in Idaho for trout and the float always sinks in the rough or fast moving water. Should I get bigger floats? I don’t remember what size I have off the top of my head but I’m not going for anything big like steelhead or salmon.

That's the setup. The only think I do differently is add anotjer bobber stop between the lower bead and the mainline knot to the inline weight. Just in case for whatever reason, if I break on the mainline side of the weight, I don't lose my bobber.

Matching your weight to the float size is crucial. That float needs to sit as close to vertical as possible, but all too often we see people with floats sitting too high, or flopped over on its side. Still don't know how you yanks float fish with spinning reels though... ;)

When you find a nice place to fish, cast your bobber set at a guess depth. Adjust your depth lower every cast until you tag bottom, then on the following cast raise it about 6" so it just hovers above the bottom. Fish always lie in aquatic shelter not in open water so put your bait just off the bottom at any depth.

ok i do not understand this setup, is the sinker suppose to be on the bottom or what? also if it is for bottom or you may want to go there why not use an in line sliding sinker instead followed by a bead and swivel and then leader etc? i made this rig that is basically a carolina except i have a head shaped corky or foam type float(basically an ear plug) right up to my hook where i will have a worm or minnow etc and i am using a slip bobber along with the setup to indicate bite instead of direct main line tension, i will have the sinker on the bottom with the float leveled on top ,not sure i anyone has made such a rig but i think it will be killer for walleye or bottom dwelling fish ,ill have to make avid on it
