Hey all!
In this video, we show you everything you need to know about how to build your own hydrophonic system. whether you are planning on going big or small, this is an easy setup.
I also want to mention that I'm using a different editing software, and the clip about our heating system disappeared for some reason 😒. I've got a few bugs to iron out.
We have 2 propane furnaces at either end of the greenhouse. I will show that in our next video.
Thanks for watching!

It is amazing that one horse pump can feed that whole greenhouse. One heck of a setup ya have there Mr. Wayne. You are so right showing that it does not take much to get started. I love my little 26 foot greenhouses. Thanks for the info! Stay safe my friends!

Amazing videos! So inspiring - I’m trying to figure out why you use running nutrient water vs closed container with nutrient water (think it’s called the kratky method) seems like the latter would save on power (no pump) and water (less evaporation). Is there a reason you guys don’t use that sort of system commercially? There must be some cons for the system otherwise surely it’d be everywhere. I’m currently experimenting with strawberries and so far so good (2 weeks & already 3 tiny berries) Cheer from Australia!

You should be extremely proud of how much your family has achieved! I wish I was in Canada to check it out in person! I have thus far made 2x 10m long horizontal NFT’s along my garden fence and retaining wall and one vertical system against my verandah post. Been loving the hydroponics ever since coming across your channel! Thankyou from Australia!

This is a terrific idea and I have watched all your previous videos from the past. One suggestion I would like to add is as you are walking thru each section explain the parts used (like you did with the pool pump). For example when talking about the trays, give amhydro a plug, talk about the grommets used on the pipes feeding water to trays etc. This will help the DYI group of us that spend lots of time trying to find the right parts.

Interval timers for pumps, lights, fans and 120V stuff, in case you're still wondering about timers. These will time intervals down to a second, like 30 seconds on and 60 minutes off, or whatever you choose. They will also do an interval within a specified time period, like 8 am to 10 pm. Much easier to adjust than a timer with multiple programs to do the same thing. I use them all over the place, currently for fans, water pumps, and aerating pumps, on my small hydroponic setup. They've been running for five years without breaking. But I have to keep the instructions handy to set them since they can do many things; I took a picture of the instruction sheet and keep it on my phone, just in case. Hi Wayne and Patti. I have been feeding my lettuce for 2 weeks now using a lettuce mix 8-15-36 with a supplement of calcium nitrate and magnesium sulphate similar to your formula in the video. I have noticed that on my Rex Buttercrunch that I'm starting to get leaf tip burn and after investigating online sources say that it could be due to lack of calcium. My calcium level is very similar to your formula so I don't think that is my issue. My EC is 1.4 but my PH is a little high at 7.2 . I have added a fan pointing down to reduce any excess humidity near my lettuce if that could be contributing to this issue, I don't see any tip burn on my other types( muir, fusion, monte carlo and tropicana). I should mention that I am doing this in my basement on a small scale as I am constantly learning from all of your great teaching videos that both of you put out. Very much appreciated. Doug

I have a really dumb question for you guys: did you have to become members or be licensed by the Ontario greenhouse vegetable growers? Someone told me that if you grow cucumbers tomatoes or peppers in a greenhouse, by law you have to be licensed by them. Wondered if this doesn’t apply to hoop house style greenhouses. I ask because I’m thinking of doing what you guys are, and wondered if you ran into them at all?

Hi guys, I've got my little basement setup going and it does quite well. I have had trouble with root rot, as I only have a 5 gallon water source. It seems to happen when my plants are larger and soaking up water quicker than I can replace it. Would doubling the water supply help, painting my white troughs black, slowing down my flow rate? Love your videos and how great it is to have your own lettuce when the supermarket is charging 8$ in the winter. Thanks!

@Growwiththelaplantes
@Growwiththelaplantes 3 жыл бұрын
We have it wired to 240. When we lose power there is a wire we can switch to 120 inside motor pump. This is a single phase pump. You can find this pump at Canada pool Supply.
@samvoelkel2046
@samvoelkel2046 3 жыл бұрын
@@Growwiththelaplantes I recently helped my brother install some Variable Frequency Drives (VFD) in his machine shop for some equipment that had 3 phase motors, but his shop only had single phase power. It is quite easy to convert single phase power to three phase power by using a VFD, and there are many advantages. Advantages include lower motor cost, lower operational cost, ability to easily vary the speed of the motor to get the exact flow that you need, ability to define a ramp-up speed, etc. I believe that you could cut your electricity cost for that pump by 50% with a VFD and a 3 phase motor. A VFD for a 1 HP motor would cost about $200. If you are interested in more information about this, respond to this message and I can provide links to reputable suppliers.
