Yes thank you for sharing. There are many younger generation Laotians whom don't understand Lao and are in need of recipes in English. I support this channel 🙌

❤️❤️❤️ That makes me really happy to hear that perspective. My teenage daughter said the same, and that when she’s grown she can always watch these videos to cook the food she likes.

Thank you for another yummy recipe! Can you help me with the noodle measurement? I dont understand how much dry noodles you started with because my package is in grams, says 1 lb
@CookingWithKhonKhao10 ай бұрын
If you are making the same amount as I did in the video you'll need 3 lbs of noodle. That would be about 1400 grams. If you only have a 1lb bag of noodle, then only use 1/3 of all the other ingredients. Good luck! I'm excited for you.

Great job! From one khon Khao to another! Whoever taught you did a great job. My mil and sils all taught me. I’m divorced now but somehow he always ends up at my house when I cook Lao food for my kids. Lol. It’s like his nose knows. Hahaha. I am impressed. Most of your recipes are almost exactly the way I was taught. I think the differences are just preference. My kids are abt grown now but I still make Lao food for them quite often. There are a few dishes that they both like and a lot that one likes but not the other. Ugh. 27 years later and I am still learning something new to make for them. People don’t understand how time consuming it is to make some the Lao dishes alone. There is a reason Lao women like to cook together. This one is a quick and easy go to dinner that BOTH of my kids love. The only difference btw your way and mine is that I brown and caramelize my palm sugar first. It was a learning curve at first. I remember being 18 and burning my sugar several times. This was one of the first dishes I learned how to make. I’m sure your in laws brag on you all the time for knowing how to cook Lao dishes. ☺️

Hi there!! Seems we have a lot in common. One must love to cook to cook lots of Lao food - you're right it can be very time consuming. :) Its my favorite food and I'm always craving it. Its worth all the effort.

My son's favorite. He loves getting the pre-made packages at Lao & Hmong stores. Love the egg strips on it, especially if it has wild cilantro on it.

I found the measurements! My question is if I make the sauce can I keep it in the fridge and for how long! Thanks!
@CookingWithKhonKhao Жыл бұрын
That’s a great question! The only ingredients I’d be concerned about is the garlic and shallot as those tend to get even more strong the longer they sit in the fridge. I’d recommend a week max. Thanks for watching!

Where can I find your measurements for each ingredient? I love this noodle dish and want to try it out. Thanks

I’ve not tried with that specific noodle, but I think it’s worth a try. Both are rice noodle so it’s likely to work just as well. Let me know if you try it and how it turns out!

What is the sweet black sauce? Never heard of it. Is it the sweet soy sauce?
@CookingWithKhonKhao3 жыл бұрын
Thank you for your question! Its a dark sweet soy sauce with a deep caramel flavor. Its thicker than typical soy sauce because sugar is added while its fermenting. Usually used in soups, stir-fries and braises. I like the brand KWONG HUNG SENG.
@JennaSakura3 жыл бұрын
@@CookingWithKhonKhao ok, thank you. I’ll keep an eye out for it at the Asian store.
@yellowdodobird681318 күн бұрын
Try not blanching your noodle. Just run it through hot water and drain. It will soak your sauce even more and not smushy

this is the wrong name for it. im sure there is a proper name for this and all the Lao in the US call it KHUA MEE, which is wrong. Mee is egg noodle.
@CookingWithKhonKhao2 жыл бұрын
I didn’t know that! Thanks for educating me. Could it be called khua mee because the egg omelette is placed on top of the noodles?
