Easy Knit Baby Hat for NB to 12 months, Magic Loop method, Easy Knit Baby Hats, Knitting for Baby

Hi everyone. My name is Sara welcome to my channel Knitting for baby. In this tutorial I will show you how to knit this super easy knit newborn baby hat for boys and girls. It’s very easy to knit so it’s ideal for beginners.
For this knit baby hat or knit baby cap I used a 3.5mm 32in circular knitting needles. I used Bernat Softee Baby yarn and I used about 30 grams of yarn. You can also make it smaller or bigger just see below. This hat is worked in the round using the magic loop method or technique. I also show you how to cast on your stitches using the long tail cast on.
Preemie use 2mm needles with #3 or DK yarn
NB use 2.5mm needles with #3 or DK yarn
0-3M use 3 mm needles with #3 or DK yarn
3-6M use 3.5 mm needles with #3 or DK yarn
6-9M use 4mm needles with #3 or DK yarn
9-12M use 4.5mm needles with #3 or DK yarn

Hello Sara! You can't imagine what a blessing your video is to me. I've been looking for a baby hat to knit for my baby granddaughter, to match with the cardigan I knitted for her but all the videos I've found have been either in another language or were confusing to follow! The only difference I'd like to make to your pattern is use 'moss stitch' for the ribbing, as I used for the cardigan. In your description box below, you give various sizes... I take it that by using the appropriate size of needles, one would determine the size of hat. I'm actually going to try and make it today before New Year's Eve - hopefully I'll finish it in time for tomorrow. Hello, so glad I found your video and all the different sizes. I have been asked to make a newborn hat. Is there an easy way to determine how ,many stitches to use for different size hats and different size needles?

For me I start with a swatch using the yarn and needles I plan to use and based on that I calculated my stitches for the different sizes using a standard size head circumference chart that you can find in google.

Hello Sara lovely hat please advise what size needle with dk yarn light 3 for size 12 to 18 months or 12 to 24 months. Hi there. I'm making baby hats for a local hospital. The pattern they gave was a flat one so there has to be a seam. I really wanted to knit it on the round. I found this tutorial and was eager to try it. Alas, my bamboo needle broke as I tried to work the stitches - there isn't a lot of room once I joined in the round. I think I will look for shorter needles on a shorter length. But thank you - this is exactly what I was hoping to find - I will try again with better needles! If you have a recommendation, please share!
