I was given an incomplete 40K tank from my FLGS last night. I'm going to make some tank wreckage sitting in a molten crater. This video has helped out with how to do it. Thanks!

These look really good and simple to make. thanks for posting the video! One suggestion though is to glue on a few rocks first, then apply the dirt to make them look embedded in the soil. Then also apply a few on top for variety.

Awesome idea here! I'm going to use this to make a portal look a bit more interesting! Fortunately, here in the US, we don't have to worry about kangaroo shit! Lol! I had to replay that to make sure I heard you correctly! Thumbs 👍 up!

Hi, really like the vid! I'm a noob here so is there an approx. ratio for the PVA and water when sealing the dirt in? Just an approx. will do cause I can't tell how thick the mixture was. Thx
@RFDHobby
@RFDHobby 3 жыл бұрын
Thanks. It's slightly more water than PVA glue, you want it to be fairly diluted so that you can easily drip it over the dirt or groundcover. It should clear up nicely once dry. I hope this helps mate.

Should add some mudbrown liquid in some of the craters for that WW1 feel, make it look like they were there for months

Thank you mate. No, the dirt I just grabbed from the backyard, although I'm pretty sure I put this through a strainer to get out some of the larger bits and non-dirt stuff before I used it.

Really nice. Was just thinking. You could probably get away with covering one of these with a texture paint instead of flocking if preferred.
@RFDHobby
@RFDHobby 2 жыл бұрын
Texture paint would work really well, and be a lot cleaner process. There will be a difference in the final texture obviously, I prefer this as it gives a loose soil look about it, as if the crater is relatively fresh (plus it's from my backyard and just happens to work really well for this application :) ). Thanks for the suggestion mate, I really appreciate it. Take care and all the best.

Perfect. The paper might actually hold better with the glue than the tinfoil. I was inspired to use the tin foil after following Erics Hobby Workshop tutorials and having way too much extra foil haha. Thanks for the comment, and sorry for the late reply.
