Thank you for this video!! I loved my mothers freezer jam but never paid attention over the last five decades how she made it because I thought she would always be here to make it for me. I’m so excited to make this and have a memory!

Thank you for the recipe! This is exactly what I was looking for! I make jam from strawberries, raspberries, marionberries, blackberries, and black currant. It is mashed berries and sugar only, in freezer. And my jam is very hard when it just from freezer or it really liquid from refrigerator. I definitely want to try this recipe with pectin. I like that you don’t add a water in your recipe and your sugar proportions. And the best thing - small pieces of strawberries!!!

How long does this keep in freezer and then in refrigerator once open?
@ArtFromMyTable9 ай бұрын
6-12 months in the freezer. 1-2 weeks or more in the fridge. Ours gets eaten pretty quickly!

Freezer jam is so much better and easier than normal Jam I don't know why people don't just make this

I totally agree!

The nice thing is you can tailor this to your own taste. When I make freezer jam I don't use nearly as much sugar. In fact when I use berries I don't use any sugar. That's just me though. You can make it however sweet or not sweet you want to. My kids love this stuff even without sugar which gets them off to a great start in life without being addicted to sugar

You're speaking my language! I have also made this with a stevia-based sweetener. This doesn't offer much in the way of preserving, as sugar is a natural preservative, but at our house, it doesn't last long either! When the berries are local and ripe they are always sweet enough.

Can you please tell me your recipe and how you do it? This is my first time making freezer jam and I've been searching for a no sugar or atleast lowest sugar method NOT using sugar alternatives. All are toxic although I love berries. Any info is much appreciated ❤

Can I us the Kitchen-aid for all the mixing? Thanks Roger
@ArtFromMyTable Жыл бұрын
I'd recommend trying it! The only thing to watch for is to make sure ALL the pectin and sugar gets mixed in to the crushed strawberries. So just double check by scraping the bottom of the bowl with a spatula before you pour it into jars. Let us know how it goes!

Why kind of pectin do you use? I've heard of pectin made for freezer jam and the regular pectin for cooking jam.
@ArtFromMyTable Жыл бұрын
I have always used the classic. From my research the classic and freezer pectin aren't terribly different. I wouldn't hesitate to try the freezer one though. Either will work.

What do you do with the rest of the berries after mixing 1-2/3 cups of the crushed berries? 2 quarts of the mashed berries produces more than 1-2/3 cups of crushed berries.
@ArtFromMyTable3 жыл бұрын
Often I make several batches so I typically use them all. However, here are some uses for the leftover mashed berries: Add to smoothies; ice cream topping; add to a cocktail or mocktail, add to yogurt, add to oatmeal, use it as a mix-in to quick bread or baked good (like strawberry bread, scones, or muffins), strawberry shortcake. If you don't have a need for it right away, you can always freeze them and use them later. I hope this helps!

Do you sterilize your jar's?
@ArtFromMyTable Жыл бұрын
Since this is freezer jam and not canning, I don't do any extra sterilizing, I am just using clean jars and lids.

Do you use "no-cook" pectin by Ball?
@ArtFromMyTable3 жыл бұрын
I believe so, it's called instant pectin or freezer pectin and it is by ball. Here's a link, but I just buy it at the farmers market or grocery store. www.amazon.com/Ball-RealFruit-Instant-Pectin-4-7/dp/B00MXWOEGY/ref=sr_1_11?dchild=1&keywords=ball+pectin&qid=1616952960&sr=8-11

Hi there this recipe sounds sweet and simple but it is not very clear on putting the ingredients together because your still left with 2/3 of the other cup of strawberries. how does this work? thanks for sharing it tho.
@ArtFromMyTable Жыл бұрын
I didn't do so good on the math did I! I'm sorry about that. I typically buy enough ingredients that I wouldn't have left overs. However, if you do have left over crushed berries, they are great on ice cream, pancakes, or strawberry shortcake. In the video I'm giving measurements for 4 cups of crushed berries (2 quarts of fresh berries), so in order to not have left overs, just crush another cups worth of strawberries. Sorry for the confusion.

aw that's no problem all good here and still taste delicious either way. i already put some of the strawberry jam on pancakes. thanks for sharing.

Thank you for sharing it looks delicious, so will it set up more or is it more of a runny jam ? Can I use cane sugar instead of white sugar ?
