Nice job on the air layering. Just to be sure, did you nick it on the start of summer, and pot it in fall? Thanks

Thanks, yes it was nicked in early summer and by the end of August I could pot it on. Good luck 👍

Great suggestion. I just planted 6 small penstemons and once they are established I will try this myself for more of them. Instead of potting it up in the Fall would it have survived planted directly into the garden in a climate that gets very cold in the winter. US zone 5B Have you ever done this with any other plants successfully

This technique is good with plants that have a woody stem so many shrubs can be layered like this. Penstemons are fairly hardy but don't survive past around -10oC so we take cuttings and overwinter them in a protected place so that if the winter is particularly cold, we have replacements. Hope this helps.

When is the best time to move a full plant to eleswhere in the garden
@MadAboutGardening Жыл бұрын
Between autumn and spring is a great time to move plants so long as the ground is not frozen.
