This video demonstrates a quick simple belt change tip/technique on a Polaris Sportsman and similar. (This happens to be a 1999 Sportsman 500) Most people are looking for a quick tutorial on performing the task. So the first half is pretty much just that. Later in the video I back track and discuss cleaning your sheaves and breaking in a new belt. Recommended. As well as other ways a belt change can be done. I only demonstrate this technique because this is likely the most common way. With an added tip to help get the old belt off.. At times people replacing a broken belt are doing so in the field. So I stuck with the most likely approach for that scenario. Or just doing a maintenance check or change. If removing an old belt that hasn't broken. Always check for damage, ware, or irregularities. I didn't go too much into that in the video. Wasn't the goal. But if you have any questions about any of that feel free to comment. Many manufacturers will provide this info with their product.
