I agree 100%. Thank you, Cookie Sheets & Sweets. Instead of just showing how to do it, your detailed narration is so so helpful. For me, I’ve finally (finally!) found an explanation of how to the vary the angles of the piping tip on the outer rows. Fantastic help for beginners.

This is one the best tutorials I've ever seen on KZbin! I do a variety of different arts and anytime I need to learn a new technique, I come to KZbin. There are SO many "tutorials" filled with fluff, useless information, story-telling, and sometimes even incorrect information. It bloats and overloads the lesson being taught and it gets so frustrating at times to find a tutorial that is quick and to the point. YOUR VIDEO IS PERFECT! You didn't overshare or add verbiage unnecessary to the video, showed the technique more than once AND took it slow the first time for us to really examine the technique. I LOVE how clear and concise this tutorial is and anyone looking to make tutorial videos should take note! Beautiful flowers and decor skills as well! 10/10

Thank you so much for your kind and informative comment, you truly made my day! My goal has always been to create the shortest video possible while still including the information necessary to successfully learn the skill, as I too get frustrated with many "tutorials" on KZbin. Is the above recipe what you use to make the roses? I can't seem to find any frosting recipe or consistency that works. It's either too soft to hold a shape or too stringy or too hard to get through the tube. There has to be a secret to this and I can't seem to find it.
@CookieSweets10 ай бұрын
Yes, it is the icing recipe that I use for my flowers. I find that the temperature of the buttercream is very important. If its too thick I use the heat from my hands on the piping bag to warm up the icing a little bit. If its getting too soft I will place the piping bag into the fridge for a few minutes to allow it to cool a bit. Hope this helps!

Might be a dumb question, but what do you do with the rose on the parchemin paper afterwards? Do I just leave it on the parchemin paper and place the paper on the cake, or do I somehow detach it from the parchemin paper then place it on the cake?
@CookieSweets2 жыл бұрын
That’s a great question! I usually place the flowers into the fridge or freezer for 10 minutes and then you can slide them off the parchment squares using a small metal spatula or decorating scissors and place them onto your cakes or cupcakes! Hope this helps answer your question

Hello, thank you for this tutorial, but how do you put these on cakes without them breaking?
@CookieSweets2 жыл бұрын
Hi! I chill my finished flowers in the fridge for 10-20 minutes, which allows them to firm up, making them less likely to break. I have a tool called a flower lifter which I use to transfer the flowers to my cakes/cupcakes. To attach them I use a small dab of buttercream. Hope this helps!

How do u make Ur butter cream thicker mine always seems too thin xx
@CookieSweets10 ай бұрын
I use the icing recipe that I have included in the description to pipe my flowers. Temperature of your hands or the room temperature can affect the consistency of the buttercream. If it seems too thin/soft I like to chill my piping bag of buttercream for a few minutes to allow it to firm up a bit!

How do the roses stay on side of the cake and not fall off
@CookieSweets2 жыл бұрын
Hello! Attaching the roses to the side of the cake can be tricky depending on the placement. It is important to chill the flowers so that they are easier to handle. I like to attach them on the sides along the bottom of the cake, or cascading down the side. For both of these options you can pipe buttercream to use as the “glue” to attach them to the cake. If you’re doing the cascading roses, start at the bottom and work your way up the side using the lower flowers to help hold the upper flowers. If you’re wanting to attaching individual flowers along the sides of the cake in a scattered pattern I would recommend using a flat flower instead of the 3D roses as they are quite heavy. I hope this helps answer your question!

What is the parchment paper for?
@CookieSweets10 ай бұрын
I use the parchment so that I can pipe multiple flowers and then place them on a sheet to set in the fridge or freezer to allow them to firm up before applying to my cakes. You can also transfer them directly from the piping nail to the cake if you prefer!

When you say angle your tip up and then out, Im not getting it! Your hand placement looks like it doesn't move.
@CookieSweets Жыл бұрын
Hi Tracy. The angles are the part I struggle the most to explain, but I will try my best. Increasing the angle is pulling the top (narrow) end of your tip further away from the flower while keeping the other (wide) end in the same spot near the base. So when I say increase to a 45 degree angle I'm talking about the angle of your tip in relation the the center base that you have piped. If holding your bag perpendicular to the base would be 0 degrees, slowly pull the top of the tip back (while leaving the bottom at the base) until its around 45 degrees. I hope this helps! I will do my best to make a more in depth video better explaining the angles soon. Thanks for your feedback.

Hai… is this buttercream can stand hot weather?
@CookieSweets3 жыл бұрын
Unfortunately buttercream made with only butter completely melts around 36°C/97°F. I wouldn’t recommend having it out in above 25°C heat, as it starts to lose its shape/texture. If you substitute 1/2 of the butter for vegetable shortening it will hold up a little better, the melting point of shortening is higher than that of butter. Hope that helps!
