These are beautiful!! I only have a 24” Ashford and you are right, It’s the perfect size for dish towels. I don’t even need a stand. I sit at the couch and prop it up to the coffee table. You already know I am one of the people you inspired to start weaving and making towels!! It’s because you are such a great cheer leader, and you make us all believe we can do it!!! Thank you 😊

Love your way of thinking/talking/videoing :D I am about to buy a rigid heddle loom, have not decided which one yet, but I am also planning on making dish towels! Great gifts. I am already making scarfs on a belt rigid heddle, but I want a real loom too. Easier to handle.

ok. the pandemic has awakened something inside of me... i have jumped into the ocean that is fiber arts... youre one of a few people responsible for this awakening of the beast. i built a spinning wheel, and will now weave with my loom i have made from an old canvas frame. i REALLY want to try making a heddle and some holsters for them to make weaving easier...Thanks for the motivation!!!

Oh what a fab video ...again! I love your ‘Trish towels’ and I am planning to do some as soon as my new larger loom is finished (my husband is making it slowly🙄) . I make your ‘Trish cloths’ which I love and use all the time. These autumnal colours...wow! You are right, I think technically a tartan has to have a ‘pivot’ where the pattern repeats backwards (if that makes sense) and so maybe your tea towels are plaid...? I’m making it up ...but it could be right🤷🏼‍♀️😂😂😊Your videos are always 100% inspiring and I can’t wait to make my own tea towels🙏

Vitamin D. Yes. (D3 and K2). I love your towels and enthusiasm. You have me hooked on weaving and I bought the 24” RHL. It came with an 8 dent heddle.... still trying to sort out which cotton yarn works best with it. (Any advice is greatly appreciated) (srly). I ordered the warping bar on Sunday and seeing how you fixed the lagging warp threads made me go “YES!!!! Best purchase since the loom itself!” I ABSOLUTELY thank you for explaining how you warped all the holes and slots and no need for slaying ...... hoping to hear what thread you were using on these lovely towels. I am so glad you made the little bar towel and kept it!!! Yea! specs! 8/2. Got it. Thank you!
@FiberLoveDiary
@FiberLoveDiary 3 жыл бұрын
I'm taking it every day! For an 8 dent heddle, I would use something worsted. Sugar & Cream works well. It's very absorbent, and not very expensive, but it ends up stiff. I've noticed that Painted Cotton by Knitting Fever is a lot more flexible even after washing, but it's more expensive. I know for sure you can find it at this website www.knitandspin.biz/.

BEAR FIBER? More on that, please. Sagging warp! Love ya for that tip. That warping bar has saved my life. I needed this video. I warped my RHL with 8/2 cotton and got stuck. Derrr! Now what to do? One strand, two strands? Never tried it before, now I am inspired. I also need, NEED a 24" RHL for towels and a 10" for dishrags for my m-i-l. She eats them, I swear, one a week. Been diamond painting as no comfy chair for a lap loom on vacation. DO NOT start this hobby. I am now obsessed and heavily in debt. Stay creative!

Hi Trish! Love them! So, if it is a fully balanced cloth then it is considered a plaid/check pattern even if it’s not symmetrical in color. A tartan on the other hand only refers to the association with a certain certified fabric associated with a certain clan and is woven in twill as well as it is symmetrical in color. -Kai

I love fall colors, and need some more towels. I'm a pre-beginner. I've been curious about weaving for years. I finally decided to give it a try. I ordered an inkle loom. But I kept eyeing other looms. I gave in to temptation and ordered a Kromski 32" rigid heddle loom. It arrived yesterday. My inkle loom arrived earlier in the week. I haven't assembled either of them yet. So far I only have one cone of white and one cone of burgundy 5/2 cotton. I also have some ivory, eggplant, and red 8/4 cotton on their way as part of a tablet weaving kit from The Woolery. I've gotten carried away splurging on things, but now I need more fall color cottons. Did I mention I also have a DVD on backstrap weaving, and have been eyeing spinning wheels? There's something about the fiber arts that keeps trying to draw me in. I've done a little knitting. I've attempted to get started with nålebinding, but haven't gotten vary far. I was about to attempt piecing my first quilt block when I got sidetracked with weaving. KZbin keeps trying to find more hobbies for me than I have time for.

These are so amazing I LOVE the color combo great eye Trish!! 👓 As I am always confused...if you doubled your warp wouldn't the total ends be like 500? 12.5 X 20" width= 250 X 2= 500 I really want to make towels but I'm afraid I don't understand
@FiberLoveDiary
@FiberLoveDiary Жыл бұрын
It's not really 500, because doubling the yarn doesn't truly give you two ends. It is still raised and lowered as one, so it's 250 double stranded ends.

I'm curious what you think the time commitment per towel and the cost of the yarn per towel would be. I do realize that the time would be dependent on your proficiency and the cost would depend on the yarn you choose, but it would be very helpful to me to have someone else's approximation, if possible. I love what you made! It's just gorgeous.

I don't really know. It's art to me so I'm not measuring it in dollars.

No weaving for me. I have thought about it. More crafts may be too much for my husband. Especially, one that takes up place. I am core spinning for a large pillow that I am knitting with a herringbone stitch. Nearly done with the spinning then back to knitting it.

That sounds really cool! I've been fighting the weaving thing for years, so maybe someday, but I do understand space constraints. I understand them too well.

Great video as usual! Loved seeing your different outcomes. Can you believe that I've never been to the actual Great Northern Weaving store? Only purchased online. We should make a roadtrip together sometime when covid goes away!!! - Rachel

I was there in September because we went to camp in Battle Creek. It's a big messy warehouse, but it's kind of like treasure hunting, and the people are great! I filmed it, but I can't find the clips, so I'm thinking I may have accidentally dumped it into the wrong folder and can't find it :S

Hi Trish, I have been subscribed and watching your channel for a while. Thank you for your content, help and advice. I am thinking of getting a loom but know nothing about weaving. What size loom to get, and how do you get the tea towels out of that big piece of fabric? Do you cut it and then hem it? I dye fibre, knit, crochet, spin, sew and machine embroider. Time to learn something new. Again thank you for your wonderful content. ❤

I am a little bit sad I lent my loom out. But I got a carder in trade. So all good. Lol

Well, if it helps at all, Friday I'll give you an idea of something to do with a carder 😂

Hi! Let me show up my loom! It folds up to not take much space and u can remove the center and add a new one to work on more the one project. Has lots of extras! So for me with my health issues I can weave. It’s a Saori WX60 folding loom.
