That is refered to as mapping. It's typically from the primer shrinking into a paint edge. This is one reason I apply filler over the edge of my paint helps eliminate that. You also might try feathering out you paint a bit more before primer. Appreciate the comment and support of the channel!

You mention isopropyl alcohol. Does that mean that denatured alcohol leaves residue?
@GarageNoise
@GarageNoise Жыл бұрын
Not sure if denatured leaves residue but isopropyl has no additives.

Chris, I spray a lot of Single-Stage paint NASON mostly; lately, I've been having delamination problems- the hood looks like there is a big bubble under the paint similar to a large run or paint sag; any ideas on ADHESION TACTICS?- THE REST OF THE PAINT IS GREAT' COULD THIS BE CAUSED BY ENGINE HEAT?? OR IS IT STRICTLY AN ADHESION ISSUE; PRIME ,SAND,, SEAL AND PAINT?? I DID NOT SKIP ANY STEPS- COULD THE REDUCER IN THE PAINT CAUSE THIS?? I NEVER ADD MORE THAN 5% REDUCER TO ANY TOP COAT PRIMER OR OTHERWISE- THE PRIMER AND PAINT ARE ALL URETHANE BASED: WHAT THE HECK AM I DOING WRONG?? LEARNING AND LEARNING SOME MORE: THANK,S GREAT VIDEO,S PATRICK

Sound like an adhesion problem. It's hard to say without seeing your process. It could be a bad batch of primer. I would swictch materials and see if that corrects it.

Couldn't you apply the spot putty on the pinholes, before you start block sanding the primer??
@GarageNoise
@GarageNoise Жыл бұрын
Yes ,absolutely! If fact, in the previous video I applied a skim coat of filler to do just that but found a few after I primed the panel . Great question! appreciate the comment and support!

Hey Chris! Thanks for all the information man. Learned a lot from you. I just wanted to ask if you could address the feather edge issue as well in one of ur future videos. Because I tried finding some videos on that but I couldnt find anything informative. Like I struggle a lot with feather edging the body filler as well as primer. No matter how much I sand, it still shows primer as a separate layer on the edge. When Im sanding the primer with 320, should I sand past the edges, but then it would leave the 320 scratch on the paint, should I then remove that 320 scratch with 600? Like theres a lot of questions in my mind. Haha! It would be great if u make a video on what grit to use and how far from the repaired area should we prime and how to feather edge body filler and primer when we cant feather it out in different scenarios. Sorry for a long comment. Thanks brother!

Yes I can make a video on that and I appreciate you taking the time to ask a question. It helps me to understand what content to produce! Let me try and help you out here. When you sand you primer use you block to sand over the prime and paint, so the transition between primer and paint should be sanded together. If you get 320 scratches in your paint that's ok they can easily be sanded out with 600. I'm assuming you apply your filler over the repair area and edge of the paint. That's how I like to do it if the filler I use Is designed to apply to sanded paint. This helps you primer transition over the paint. I hope this helps!

The bumper on my jaguar stype is peeling bad (in thick sheets) is there a way to get it all off with some kind of stripper or do I just peel it off as much as I can and then sand it all down.... I just don't trust this paint ...thanks
@GarageNoise
@GarageNoise Жыл бұрын
You'll have to peel it, a little compressed air may help.

@@GarageNoise thanks for the reply, what to do with the parts that won't peel ? Sand it till there's nothing remaining? Won't I risk peeling in the future if I paint over any of that stuff ?
@GarageNoise
@GarageNoise Жыл бұрын
@@theloosemoose8200 yes, you will need to sand those areas. I would use the least aggressive sandpaper possible starting with 320 and no more aggressive than 180. It will be time consuming process. Don't get hung up on removing every little spec of paint if it's really difficult to sand of than chances are your ok to smooth it ou and primer over it. Hope this helps!
