Hey everyone! Some substitutes for sour cream is buttermilk (in this recipe: 1/2+1/4 cup of milk + 1 teaspoon of white vinegar), greek yogurt is another substitute and even normal curd will work. Good job Natasha! Love your recipes as always! :-)

Everyone loved it ❤️ Sour cream isn't readily available in my locality and even when it's available it's priced over the moon, so I usually make my own sour cream especially for cheesecake but I didn't have enough in stock for this recipe, so I used around 60g sour cream and the rest I used Greek yogurt (incase you don't have that... then, you can just hang plain set yogurt in a muslin cloth and let the whey come out for an hour or two) and it came out soft. The tanginess of the strawberries and the dusting of sugar complements quite well! Thanks again Natasha!

I tied this recipe today and wow it was delicious!! I only added half of the sugar because my whole family can't really eat sweet things and they loved it !!! I didn't have the sour cream but substituted with yoghurt and added some lemon zest and juice. Oh and also, I let the halved strawberries for the top merinade in a tablespoon of sugar for bout 10 min and it didn't come out spongey and tasted great. Simply said it was delicious!! Just waiting for the rest of my family to come home to eat the remaining half of the cake :)))

The lemon or lime juice is needed to brighten the taste of the strawberry sauce. You only need about 1 tbsp for every 2 cups of strawberry sauce. You'll taste the difference immediately.

Looks amazing! I baked my girlfriend a strawberry cake for her birthday and she loved it! I wish i put the strawberries inside the cake like you did - the strawberries gives a refreshing burst of moisture combined with the cake texture. For my strawberry sauce i pureed strawberries, strained the seeds and reduced it down on stove, let it cool and added butter and mixed with a pre-made vanilla frosting to give a sugar free concentrated strawberry flavored frosting

Oh my goodness I made this cake but I baked it at 325 it took longer but well worth it. I added lemon zest, lemon juice to get a lemon with strawberry taste. It came out fabulous and delicious. Too bad, we can't upload our pictures. Girl, you are now my number one KZbinr when it comes to recipes. They are simple, not too many ingredients well I can go on and on but I am in love with your channel.

Thank you! I received lots of strawberries from the food bank and needed to make something out of them, and this recipe looked great - I substituted strawberry yogurt (also from the FB) for the sour cream, and made a "cheesecake topping" out of 2 T cream cheese, 2 tsp sour cream, 1 tsp lemon juice, a few drops of vanilla, and 1 cup of powdered sugar, then I put a few fresh strawberries on top for decoration. :)

I love this recipe so much, I've made it several times. I made it yesterday to give to my neighbors who have 2 teenage boys. Their dad takes out my trash bins every week and brings them in for me. I'm 75 years old and use a cane to walk, so maneuvering trash bins is a very difficult task for me. I'm so grateful to have neighbors who helped me out with this task.

@@Natashaskitchen WOWZA!!!! 🤩🤩🤩 What an AMAZING recipe!!! 🥰🥰🥰🥰 My honey absolutely loved it!!! 💗💗💗 And we heated it up and put a scoop of ice cream on the side. We also chilled it in the fridge and ate it with Greek yogurt! 😋 I’d say, this cake smells like strawberry pop tarts while cooking, tastes like the most delicious old fashioned home made cake when warm and a little like tres lèche cake when cold (my favorite because I love moist/cold cakes- this one doesn’t disappoint!!!😍😍😍 Though it isn’t as moist as très lèche, it is definitely not dry at all!! It’s the perfect consistency in my opinion 😊). I want to thank you for making this recipe! 🥰🥰🥰🥰 I will be incorporating this one in my desert rotation from now on. It won’t be just a birthday cake in my house! Thank you, thank you, THANK YOU!!!! 🥳🥳🥳🥳🥳

I think the general rule is if it has cream (especially fresh cream or buttercream) it needs to be refrigerated. Otherwise perhaps in an air tight container?

I'm not the cook in the family, but I enjoy watching Natasha -- she makes everything look easy. I made this cake last night, did the toothpick test, let it cool down and then wrapped it with foil. When I got up this morning, the center of the cake had sunk and didn't look like it was cooked enough. But I made the syrup and brought it to the picnic anyway. Everybody raved! I will definitely make it again (and hope that the middle doesn't sink). Thanks, Natasha!

Natasha. Thank you for all your recipes... I recently had surgery and had to keep myself busy. So I cooked. Lol.. I made your beef stroganoff, chicken Tetrizini and today.... your strawberry cake recipe ... all of them turned out so amazing.... thank you again....
