Hi friends! I'm Jennifer, a forty-something wife and mother of 7 children ages 8 - 24. We are Catholic. We homeschool. We cook from scratch. We farm cranberries. We drink coffee. We advocate for Down syndrome awareness. We are loud. We are chaotic.
Here I'll share vlogs about all these things, what I'm doing that works and what I've tried but didn't work. I hope to encourage you in your journey through motherhood, homeschooling, learning to cook, and growing in your faith through it all.

Jennifer have you ever tired a dash of celery seed in your potato salad? It’s very good. I also add a bit of prepared mustard and a small jar of drained pimentos. I have even added a tiny bit of pickle juice. I really love the way you use what you have on hand and keep it real and make such wonderful meals!! You are very creative and it always looks so delicious. You are conservative and thrifty and that’s exactly what we need these days. Both of your great cookbooks are such a tremendous help. I just love them!!

People might give you a hard time about how little some of your kids eat but I'm of the mind that as long as a kid eats healthy foods, doesn't snack on junk food then it's fine. My daughter ate whatever she wanted for meals, I kept cut up fresh fruit and veggies in the fridge and she ate those whenever she wanted a snack. My thinking is I'm not going to argue about amounts because it would have made her unhappy, me unhappy and quite possibly set up a negative mindset concerning foods. Less drama is always a good thing in my book

I was one of those moms that always freaked out about how little my kids ate and their pediatrician told me something at one of their appointments that changed my life. He said “Relax, Mom! I promise you they won’t starve themselves! As long as they’re growing, thriving, and healthy-they are fine!” And since that day nearly 15 years ago, I’ve never worried about the little amounts of food on their plates. What he said was so simple and made so much sense….and he was right. Lol!

I am so glad that you like the cast iron pizza pans! We have had ours for years and use them for more than just pizza at times. My husband loves to do homemade buffalo wings and I have used them as a cookie sheet in a pinch when making Christmas cookies. I see you have the same issue we do with the pizza cutter not quite reaching the end of the crust. Happy 4th to you and your family!

The kielbasa stir fry is very similar to my grandmothers poor man’s dinner. We have it often here. Hot dogs (or sausage if you’d like) potatoes peppers and onions. Was one of my favorites when I was little visiting and now it’s one of my kids favorites also. They never got to meet her, so it’s my way of bringing a bit of her into their lives.

A favorite of mine is potato salad. Your kids are just missing out. Southern style is a little prepared mustard and onions and pickles relish. Some of the family don't like onions so we add onions at the end after taking out some for the no onion people. Enjoy your 4th.

Just thought I'd throw it out that I have recently started throwing my frozen sausage or hotdogs into a pot of boiling water still in the package. I love it. Thaws the sausage nice and evenly and I boil the hotdogs longer till they are cooked. Cut open the package onto a plate and no dirty dishes!

I love wearing perfume every single day too. My kids always spray their stuffed animals and their blankets with it because they say they always love with their stuff smells like me. Lol. Last year, I was driving my kids to school and my son, who was 10 at the time, grabbed my perfume from the console of the car and put some on his wrist & he said that he liked to do that because it made him feel better if he ever got sad at school. Totally melted my heart into a giant puddle. 😂

I've found that if you put some water into the pan with frozen meat like bulk pkg of hamburger or sausage, then cover the meat cooks faster and you don't have to stand over it while it's cooking. The water evaporates and the meat browned nicely

I like nuts in my chocolate chip cookies but I prefer pecans. I am not a huge walnut fan. I think pecans have a slightly sweet flavor. I like adding pecans into chicken salad too. I use chicken, celery, pecans, mayonnaise and dried cranberries in my chicken salad. I did catering and that recipe was a great seller. I made it using 20 lbs of chicken at a time and sold it by the lb. I roast bone in Skin on Chicken breasts seasoned with just olive oil, salt and pepper and used that to make my chicken salad. It was a game changer. The chicken had flavor. Your dinners looked delicious. I keep a lb of smoked sausage in my meat drawer at all times. It lasts usually about 3 months at a time. I use it when I have not thawed something and need a last minute quick meal.

I am always happy for different versions of potato salad! Only me, my mom and daughter-in-law like it. I typically do mayo, mustard, a bit of pickle juice (it gives a nice zip!), salt and pepper for the dressing. I love hard boiled eggs, celery (chopped very fine), sweet onion or green onions, and potatoes. If I'm feeling fancy I dust the top with paprika! yum!❤

Hi Jennifer, another awesome video. Love seeing the kids getting in to the kitchen and helping out. I now have my hubby hooked on your channel, he loves seeing what you and Warren do as cranberry farmers. We don't seem to get fresh cranberries here, which is kind of sad :-(. Happy 4th July xx
