Hey Nigel. Love these jam-style videos. Thanks for keeping the theory out of them. I love learning the theory but have a tendency to nerd out and overthink things. These vids make me play and listen. My favourite is to put them on the headphones and turn the screen off. Thanks again from a long-time Fremantle resident now living in France (so if you need me to give Jay Metcalfe a hard time for you, let me know - I'm not too far away) :) Cheers. Geoff.

Yes, indeed. Thank you, that was excellent. You had me actually making music right away -- and had me realizing that with just a few notes and simple lines and rythmic variety, I can create a pleasing and interesting sound & melody, without having to 'learn to play every kind of scale in all 12 keys and at any tempo'....at least not yet! You're a genuine *teacher* -- which I've found is rather rare in the jazz world.

Jazz is a language, learning a language takes a lot of time, spanish, japaneese, german... Do you imagine a youtube channel helping you to speak a new language? Don't dream, you need a teacher, and hours and hours of practicing. There is miracle method. Great or little teacher , it is the pupil who learns, and work day after day. If you don'd hear and understand the melody, if you don't know your scales, if you have no Jazz culture, be patient. Everybody is fan here... and is wrong. No video can replace a teacher that listen to you note after note, give you some home work for the week and check out you progress, if there are.

Playlisted for my next Sax exercise, (which will be this afternoon) thanks for sharing Your wisdom! To answer Your question, which kind of Jazz do You like most? I like Lounge Jazz and Smooth Jazz. Since some Years I like cigars and there is lot of this kind of Jazz played in cigar lounges. Over the Years, I fell in love with that kind of relaxing music. Maybe that's the reason why I finally started practicing saxophone (last Year, aging 46), although I always was fascinated by this Instrument since my childhood.

I'm just discovering 'Improvisation in my lessons and am surprised (now I'm over the original embarrassment of 'making up' a tune ad lib ) how much I enjoy Improv. so will be trying this Jam out. - Sonny Rollins is my favourite player - St Thomas is my no. 1. - I've also got 'Bunny' stuck in my head by Gerry Mulligan/Johnny Hodges - great melodic tune. I currently play an Elkhart Alto but keen to get a good Yamaha Tenor 32 or 62 as I love the Tenor warm sound.
