The first 3 videos that popped up when I searched 'crochet wash cloth' were all Melanie, and seeing her smiling face made me so sad. What a beautiful woman, a great teacher and creative artist. Gone way too soon. RIP Melanie. I'm going to follow your tutorial today and think about you and your beautiful family. ❤️

I just found your channel…although you’re no longer here I made this washcloth tonight with your perfect instructions and soothing voice. It was really simple being that I haven’t crocheted in so many years. It came out great and I will definitely be making more. I’m so sorry to hear you lost your battle but these videos will forever live on to help those when needed. Thank you to your family for letting these instructional videos remain. Rest in Paradise 💐

I gifted some washcloths (edited to say they were used for the face and to dry it out too 🤷🏼♀️) made with cotton but I was told they don’t absorb well and were use under the hot dishes that are placed on the table, like a trivet. What are the differences in cotton

What are those textured yarns?
@michellebailey76672 жыл бұрын
@@fionastube2011 I'm sorry, but Melanie passed away in January from a courageous battle with cancer. You can find her memorial video on her channel. I was so sad that I didn't find her channel until after her death. She was angel on earth and now in heaven. You can visit her blog to find out the yarns she used.
@LabradorMarilyn2 жыл бұрын
@@fionastube2011 it’s just that, textured yarn. I finally was able to get some yesterday in the mail but only in the small balls. I’m no expert but it’s basically what it states; textured yarn. It’s a mixture of cotton yarn and textured yarn. Melanie explains it at the beginning of her tutorial and I’m slow but I made one washcloth yesterday and started a second one. I wouldn’t use this type of yarn for a dishcloth but rather as a washcloth as Melanie have mentioned. I plan to include those that I make in gifts but I’ll be sure to make a couple for myself once I order some more of the textured yarn. Hope this information is helpful to someone and I can’t believe that Melanie is gone! 😓 She is almost the exact age as our only son and I just cannot begin to imagine what her family is going through. 💔

I don't crochet (I sew) but my Grandmother did. She made beautiful afghans but these washcloths were my favorite. They make a great gift. I remember when she made a couple of these for my sister. She was not sure about them but using the washcloths once & she loved them too!

Well, i watched, rewatched, played, stopped, rewound, played and rewound...i was enjoying your tutorial, bought my supplies...and must have done the 39 chains 10 times...it was too tight, too loose...just didn’t look the same length as yours. I am now on my 6th row, and it doesn’t exactly resemble the beautiful pattern that yours shows...but it’s not too bad...how long might it take to have my stitches really look the same, uniform and defined like yours...i will keep trying to perfect my beginners chain. Thanks for your patience and calming voice...i only got really mad once. I know practice must be the key to uniformity. If there’s any other tip you can share for beginning any project, PLEASE help a girl out. You’re wonderful Melanie and i am so happy you are doing well. Stay healthy you beautiful soul 💚. xoxo’s Joanna

I used a 5mm or H - but use the hook size that the package recommends on your yarn. If you choose to use a different brand, the hook size may vary slightly

Hello, I was just going to give you a suggestion. My husband and most men I have known so not like big wash clothes. They like them almost just a 1/2 inch outside their hand. I am not saying all men but the ones I have talked to, they like them downsized. I love this stitch for a washcloth stitch.
