Hello, since uploading videos to Shorts, I’ve noticed some recurring questions, so I thought I’d add a handy dandy FAQ! 1. Why do vegans eat food that mimics meat / dairy? For myself and many vegans, we didn’t stop eating meat and dairy because we didn’t like the taste, but because we don’t think a meal is worth taking the life of a cow, chicken, pig etc. I used to eat a lot of meat and dairy, but once I educated myself about how the food got to my plate, and once I tried all the amazing vegan alternatives, it was easy to make the switch. 2. Is that bread, burger, cheese etc really vegan? Yes, everything I post is devoid of animal products. 3. What is your favorite vegan meat and cheeses? For meat, I like Impossible and Beyond Meat. For Cheese I like Daiya, Follow Your Heart and Violife. 4. What is nooch (aka nutritional yeast) It’s a savory, umami enhancer that is used in a lot of vegan sauces and cheese amongst other things. 5. I hate vegans! This isn’t a question, but I’m sorry you hate vegans! There are problematic people in every group (like That Vegan Teacher) and vegans are no different. However, the vast majority of us are just doing our best to be as compassionate and thoughtful as possible, and to reduce suffering for our animal friends.

Hello! I see this video is getting more views than usual. Just wanted to drop in and say before going vegan I ate my fair share of bacon. This is a great alternative taste and texture wise! And if you’re wondering why not just eat pork bacon, my answer is that even though I love the taste of bacon I’m not crazy about the animal abuse involved to make it. As a meat eater I genuinely want to know why people don’t eat meat. I get that the animal abuse is a thing but what about alternative ways of processing and raising? Or is it just because of the raw meat instead of the animal itself?

I think the way I realized it, is would I support mass animal abuse or normal killing animals only for the sake of my enjoyment. I'd be unable to support either. Why support killing an animal for food for no reason when we have alternative sources of food that's just as nutritious. At least that's the way I look at it.

I just tried this for first time and it’s probably the best substitute I’ve found. Plus now my house smells like maple syrup. My dogs liked it as well (they got the burnt pieces)

Idk abt the saltiness but for cooking properly I think try to take it off the stove while it’s still a little floppy for mostly crispy bacon and for chewier bacon, let it cook for just slightly shorter. I would recommend lower heat as well. Ik u weren’t asking me but thought I’d try to help lol

I need omega 3 fatty acids and I can't get that with a vegan diet. Indians who are vegan have a higher risk of their DNA adding a weird allele that gives them an increased chance of heart failure and colon cancer. Not everyone can be vegan

I hear you! It’s a big change. You don’t gotta do it over night. I started by just cutting out certain things. I’d eat plant based for 1 day a week, then 2 and so on. I also watched “dairy is scary” right here on KZbin and that did it. The good news is that there’s a TON of recipes and products these days so it’s easier than ever. @@toxiccupcake7954 honestly get a genetic test, some people with certain regional genetics will have an increased risk of colon cancer and heart disease (reason why I'm not vegan, heart attack isn't worth it) and if you're Indian you have an increased risk of generating an allele that gives you a higher risk of developing heart failure and stomach issues. Everyone should build their diet around the genes they have.

Or you could first fry it in high temp oil so as to get max crispyness then brush sauce(not soak in it) and like bbq airfry on stove flame just a few sec to get sauce browned and caramelized (haven't tried yet but it should be really flavour popping)

It’s commonly used for spring rolls! It doesn’t have a ton of flavor on its own but it absorbs marinades quite well

If you aren't willing to use MSG a common alternative is the asian flavoring packet mushroom powder or magic powder. Trader joe's sells it I think as umami seasoning.

Not even vegan, but I’ve seen all the other vegan bacon tricks. None of them even seemed to be appealing, appetizing, or remotely close to bacon. Your trick is definitely an A-1 in my book, I may even use it to make “bacon” chips!
