Eating solid foods depends on the interest of the child. My first son wasn't interested in food until he was 11 month old. So we startet with 11 month. The second was interested with 5 month and than we startet with 5 month! Everything was fine!

First foods for a 6 month old... I'm a Maternal Child Nurse and the advice I give to my patients is that it's best to start with veggies first and then move to fruits as children will be more likely to enjoy veggies later on. You can blend or mash veggies and add breast milk to be really make it enjoyable and familiar to baby. Start with one food served 2x per day for 4 days before introducing another veggie or food. This will allow his body to react and you should be able to tell if there is a reaction within those 4 days. Good luck! Thanks for all the wonderful foodie inspiration!

Yes on the oil-free. I know you’ve talked a little about it before, but I would love to show my husband so he can understand why I’ve transitioned to way less oil. And yes Erin just feed Max anything and everything you want. Don’t be scared! He’s hungry he wants it! They have a sense of smell and want all the good things we make!! :)

Love this recipe! Your little guy is soooo adorable! He sounds ready to eat some healthy foods! We have successfully utilized “baby led weaning.” Our babes are now newly 2 & 3 yrs old and they are AMAZING EATERS! Im a firm believer in introducing veggies and non sweet foods first and waiting just a bit for very sweet fruits. Helps them really develop a palate for non sweet foods. Also, don’t be afraid to use spices to expand their palate as well! Start small and go from there. It’s also super important to not do a ton of salt yet (even healthy sea or Himalayan) because of their kidneys still developing and can’t process it very well. Happy eating! Love your channel! Cheers & blessings to your family! ❤️✌🏽🌟

Loving the cheez sauce! Thanks for sharing. I've been having trouble finding a good method for cashew cheez sauce but this is good!!! I've been experimenting with it too, adding a touch of lemon pepper, garlic powder. I even mixed in a tiny bit of salsa just like my mom used to do with that yucky tostitos cheese sauce from the grocery store. My version was 👌 delish. Can't wait to share it with her. Happy MDW!

Thanks for the recipes!! I have three boys and something we've done with the last two is waiting until 7months more like 8 months for solids. If he's sitting up well and past 6 months but I read that extra month of waiting is worth it to make sure there system is ready. We did baby led weaning with them all, really just avocado, banana and sweet potatoes for a good while and then at 1 year more complex foods. I breastfed them all past 15 months. :) you guys are awesome!

Love it! You’re making me want an air fryer!😉 for six month olds and starting solids, I found every baby so different. I had to keep trying banana puréed, avocado, etc. I tried to cook oatmeal and purée that as well. This last foster baby I had wasn’t having it, lol! The physical therapist who would visit encouraged me to persevere, as the gag reflex gets adjusted to texture. It got better and better. (By the way, writing from Tuscany, our 30 year wedding anniversary and loving it! I remember watching your videos there❤️)

Happy 5 months Max!! When my kids were babies, I was told to start with easy to digest, plain vegetables like squash or carrots first, one at a time for several days in a row so you can tell if there is any reaction or tummy discomfort. Then move on to green veggies with fruits being last so they don't get used to the sweet fruits and refuse the vegetables. I used to buy frozen organic veggies, steam and puree them in small amounts to save on the expense of jarred baby food, which I did buy some of for the convenience of when we were out and not at home. For fruits you can buy organic canned or jarred in juice instead of trying to process fresh fruit. You'll want to puree everything very smooth at first so he doesn't gag, but as the months go by you can make it slightly more textured, and you can add in cooked blended oats or rice as well.

In Hawaii we feed our babies Poi. Or if they’re having a hard time sleeping through the night poi thinned out with water for them to have in the bottle-high carbs sleep after 😂 Also there’s all kinds of Poi-Kalo, Ulu, etc.

EatMoveRest Unless you go to a clean and pono source it’ll be that rubbish they give to tourists. But depending on where you live there may be a distributor. I know a friend of mine that does Ai Manuahi, and they ship out kalo chunk and kalo poi. His is of the best quality but he does sell out crazy fast and he sell tonnage 😯 If you were in Hawaii babies also get Uala (Molokai Sweet Potato, not yams) the leaves just like the tuber is edible. Uala leaves can be eaten raw or steamed up like spinach. We’d also give our children a little Limu but we have all sorts of varieties of Limu (seaweed) here. I just made some vegan “fish” sticks by throwing in some Limu Kohu into the lentil base 🤤
@lamykaswiccanpodcast
@lamykaswiccanpodcast 5 жыл бұрын
EatMoveRest Also just FYI, Kalo is a natural source of fluoride as well so good for baby’s teeth development and yours. And if you don’t already know cloves is a natural oral analgesic so when baby starts teething clove tea or home made clove oil (NEVER essential oil) will really help 👍🏽

Lamyka L. Wow so many cool Hawaiian foods! We’d love to live there someday! I’m interested in kalo...where can we get some, what is it?!
@lamykaswiccanpodcast
@lamykaswiccanpodcast 5 жыл бұрын
EatMoveRest Kalo and Taro are the same thing 👍🏽 Try check out Ai Manuahi (that’s the name of a reliable distributor), but if you find Hawaiians in your area just ask around. Most often we have to pack it in our suitcases or freeze it in coolers to take it on the plane up to relatives. There’s also many different varieties so you have to be careful because the differences in taste/nutrition AND how they’re cultivated can be vastly different as well. My favourite Kalo is ʻeleʻele, which means black/very deep dark-it’s naturally CRAZY sweet, kind of reminds me of creamed honey. Oh hey, I posted on the dad video but here: you might like the rainbow carrots at whole foods, the heirloom carrots taste waaaaay better and different than the standard orange. And my favourite raw vegan restaurant in Hawaii (Greens & Vines) adds Jicama “fries” to their meals. Whole Foods also sells it; you might like that as a snack too 👍🏽 I can’t even imagine how that would taste with this yummy cheese sauce 🤤

Hi Dusty and Erin, I just made the ‘cheese’ dip and I love it, but my husband doesn’t. Now I have a bit much for just myself. How long does it keep in the fridge and can you freeze it too? Thank you so much, Leonie
@EatMoveRest

Not sure about freezing it, you could try! It will last 3-5 days in the refrigerator!

As an Indian and a homely foodie.. and knowing how much u both enjoy Indian food.. would like to suggest u start with some lentil soup, mashed fruits, cooked rice water initially and once he is able to digest.. move on solids!

Introducing solids: Doctors told me to start with puréed , individual food items to start. Then as you know what works and doesn’t you can start mixing foods. They also said to introduce common allergen foods “nuts” as soon as possible to reduce chances of allergies to those foods.

How do y’all feel about the material of the tray of the air fryer? I’m so tempted by them. I don’t believe any nonstick is good. I’m just trying to weigh pros and cons.

Babes love mouthing foods, but the gag reflex can be a challenge. Began my daughter at 6 months with avocado and sweet potato, but breastmilk stayed her preferred for a while. She didn't really take off on trying foods regularly till at least 9 months, though she loved to grab. Baby led weaning.
