On console you can also get into a solo lobby by changing sour MTU settings in connections from 1500 standart down to 800. Rdr and GTA usually have no issue running on low settings like this however you will be alone in your session

In all honesty I was already doing most of the stuff (using the interactive map, using MTU private lobby) but the most helpful information was that you can only find one Legendary Animal per session. I was having no problem finding my first one of the day but my second never showed. After switching sessions, after each animal, I found the next one immediately with no problems.

Also i noticed you doing the wagon trick for the legendary panther/cougar 👌🏿🔥, something i discovered very late in ny red dead online career. I always used to struggle with the cougar coz unlike the bear you cant just run for the high ground or constantly dodge the attacks so the wagon means the horses can't throw you off even when they panic. Just randomly noticed it in the video btw so dont mind me 😂❤

I have found a little trick for the console. It has a similar effect to a lag switch. I activate the hotspot function on my smartphone and log in with my console, then go to the place where the legendary animal appears, then I move away from the console for a short time with my smartphone, due to the poor network connection the game now pushes me into a solo lobby where the legendary animal is already waiting for me.

There is another similar way to do this, if you start a Stage coach robbery mission with anthony forman in rhodes, you'll be nearly guarenteed to find an animal. But it only takes place at 10pm, so odds for some animal significantly change, in my experience.

I love the garment sets, there’s ALOT of cool glitches you can do with taking the goat off them and keeping the head piece and mix matching that with tons of outfit and coat pieces, very cool.

Hey Cat, thank you very much! It works perfectly - and I even can avoid the cooldown!! Since I really care about this role for the samples and not the pelts I tried something to circumvent the 72h cooldown for species. Watched some videos and one KZbinr found a very "easy" but slightly brutal way to avoid the cooldown for treasure maps. It works for legendary animals, too. You just have to force your xbox to shut down the moment the sample you took adds to your satchel and appears in yellow letters on the right side of your screen. If you press the xbox button and choose to turn it off, it will add the sample but won't give you the cooldown. I tried it with the cogi boar sample now two times in a row and it worked. Dunno what happens if you kill the animal and skin it first. But if you don't mind turning your xbox on and off again and again you can collect all the samples you need without waiting. Just follow the steps Cat explained and then turn the Xbox off - it might even work with just quitting the game but haven't tried it yet.

On PlayStation and Xbox if u change mtu Settings You're guaranteed to go to solo lobby forever and find all the legendary animals and full crips up and store legendary animals and your hunting wagon for reserve. No any problem is you can't play with other players when you change it. I like to use 850 so that way doesn't constantly keep changing lobbies. If you put it at 800, you're constantly getting kicked out of one lobby into another one. It's unstable. You can still play but you're constantly jumping from room to room

Another method for solo lobies is to start poached animal mission from Harriet (no need to do the camp/change appearence step). Once it starts, you'll be in a solo session. However, the mission needs to end *for you to be able to spawn random encounters/legendary animals*. So, just approach the poacher camp to start timer. From there, look for a train (this part, I believe, works for any solo session), and make sure it's always appearing on the minimap. The only problem is that West Elizabeth becomes basicaly locked away.

easiest is setting your MTU to 800. (PS4 only) completely stable, although it fucks up your camera, so don't try to take pictures, because they wont be saved.

Yesterday, I went after the Legendary Golden Bear, it killed me like ten times while I was trying to tranquilize it (always went straight for me whenever I spawned), and despite firing 40+ tranquil shots, it didn't go down. Then, Rockstar services crashed and I was out the game. Fun times. How do even small animals require so many tranquilizer shots?

It's a "Preferred" Time & Weather, meaning it has a higher likelihood of spawning during those conditions.

I can confirm you can find Legendary animals in free roam. I don’t have the Naturalist role, and I was somewhere along the coast of Flat Iron Lake. I had the notification saying “A Legendary animal is nearby” and I was chasing after the Ota Fox. It was a bit unusual that I couldn’t auto aim, and it took god knows how many shots to go down. Took it to Gus so I can purchase the Ota coat.

All legendary animals are free aim targets. Only really an issue with smaller creatures and rough terrain like up near annesburg

Great vid cat! I wanted to add some useful info here 1) Sedating and sampling starts the 72 hr cooldown too 2) Going offline then online resets the 72 hour cooldown. And you have a long grace period to do this surprisingly. Once you get your legendary in your wagon you disconnect. I’ve even been able to put animal on my horse, join a friends session, drop it off for them, then go offline and it still reset the cooldown. I was actually able to deliver the same snow buck 5 times for him by doing this haha. To go offline unplug router, or disconnect via console settings then go back online. 3) Staying within camp perimeter will lock in lobby. 4) Don’t need to wait near campfire or in change appearance menu. Just go to camp, go in to change appearance and get out right away. Where you are standing in your camp is the part that matters. If it didn’t work go somewhere else in/near your camp and try again. 5) A live legendary animal nearby will lock in a lobby. If you load into your camp in a solo lobby and see a legendary nearby you don’t have to start a trader delivery mission. 6) when you’re done hunting the legendary animal and you still have trader delivery mission active, I recommend joining a recent player instead of hitting pause and selecting new session. Sometimes the latter will erase your goods completely. Hope this helps

After 7 months of looking for the maza cougar i found it after a wagon sell mission then i stowed it on my horse and fast traveled. My horse did not spawn for 10 minutes i was about to close the game and play something else when i saw it spawn without the maza cougar on it.

Good video Cat. I've gotten all the pelts but I wish I had known some of these tips before I was already halfway through the legendary animal list. By the way, the reason that Legendary animals seem to spawn almost consistently when you start a trader goods run is because a trader goods run blocks out stuff like random events from the map, and if you're near a legendary animal spawn and a random event is near it, it blocks the legendary animal spawn so you either have to clear it and pray it doesn't respawn (it happened to me multiple times hunting one of the bears) or switch lobbies. I had more success with the latter method. You *can* also find legendary animals without naturalist role, I think I had very few spawn on me when I was new to the game but it's easier when you get naturalist because one of the rewards for leveling up the role is that legendary animal spawns become more common, iirc. Also one thing you got wrong in your video is that if the legendary animal runs away that it trigger the 72 hour cooldown. If it runs away it actually doesn't trigger the cooldown and you can still find the animal. The first time I encountered the Winyan Bison it ended up running away from me, so I switched lobbies and managed to get it to respawn again after a few times

By setting you Internets MTU from the default 1500 to 750 you will always get solo lobbies. I dont know if the works for platforms other than ps4/5.

If you have a TP-Link WiFi router (probably works with other types as well but idk) you can go into a web browser on your phone and type in your IP(or the routers IP or whatever it's called), log into the router and from there you can change the MTU and then connect your Xbox via WiFi and you'll get the "Solo" lobby. Not sure how it works on Playstation but It will not disconnect you from the server, just from everyone else and you'll stay like that for at least 10-20min then connect you with others and after a few seconds an error pop up message in the top left corner saying something that there were some connection issue or whatever and you'll be by yourself again untill it repeats.

Control, alt, and delete/memory and a suspension of the game for me is the most important step in finding a legendary. Just take a walk. A full public lobby is tuff because of many people and modders. Modders will take you out just to crush you so watch out and be quick to put in storage or sell.

Hey PVPCAT? An easier solo lobby trick that's permanent until you change it back is to change the MTU Settings on PS4 or PS5. Settings+Network+Set up internet connection+ Use Wifi or Lan Cable (Choose which one you use)+ Custom+ keep pressing X until you see MTU Settings+ choose Manual+ change MTU to anything between 850 to 950+ choose next+ keep press x and test internet connection+ once done exit back to home screen and start RDR2 online. You will have a solo lobby permanently until you go back into network settings and change MTU back to 1500. Make sure you change the MTU BACK before you play other games as it will not connect to online lobbies in games like COD

I only have 2 animals left out of the 42. The moon beaver and the onyx wolf. I don’t know if doing Harriet missions like killing the night beaver will affect me or not because I’ve killed similar animals after killing the same from Harriet but since I’m at the end of the rope here I’ll just stay offline for the next 3 days to insure I don’t have any problems.

Go after the LA during the trader sale or shine sale. As soon as you see the gold “?” Stop the wagon and call horse. Go after and kill, stow on horse, ride back to wagon, dismiss horse, continue initial mission. There’s usually plenty of time. Oh, I usually run trader sale in solo lobby if I’m alone. Not worth getting dyno-bowed by a 12 year old 😂

Im i got trampled because my horse bucked be before i could even activate my dead eye so the extra Bisons next to the Winyan trampled me and the Winyan ran away. (Thats the only bison i need so would it not come back at all for 72 hours still because it ran away)

Tip: There are instances where you lost your trader goods upon resetting, albeit extremely rare occurrence. Just to be safe, do this trick if you have a very low stock level of trader goods, so if R* decides to mess with you, it shouldn't be a huge loss.

There's one card that you can read it's description saying "dead eye & eagle drains slower"

Yes, a blue card to the right Unblinking Eye You also equip horseman for extra 20% damage while mounted and winning streak. When you're using a shotgun with shells , each pallet within a shell (and you fire 4 per attack) counts as a separate hit as far as the card is concerned. So it takes 3 shots to kill 90% of legendary animals.

I have a question. So I got the onyx wolf to spawn for me but it was under the map and I couldn’t get it. Since it spawn and I couldn’t get it does it still have a 72 hour cooldown even tho I didn’t kill it and it didn’t run away?

if an animal runs away can i find the same animal again or does the 3 day cooldown count for the animal u lost aswell
