Sis, can I grow them during this fall? I am in the same city as you. Right now, the weather is cooler.
@KhatiyaKorner3 жыл бұрын
No you can’t grow them at this time. It is too cold unless you try to grow in a greenhouse with temperature control. I just let it sit there. Some die and some roots still alive which will regrow next year and i just add more.

You just have to find a way to create that heat and humidity that this herb really loves. So cover it up with clear plastic or container in layers as needed to create humidity and place in a sunny spot.

@KhatiyaKorner5 жыл бұрын
It depends on how cold your area gets. I live in Northern Cali and we don't get snow but only frost so I just leave the lid one. Some dies but when warm weather arrive some will grow back, like you see in the video the one on the right side of the container. Good luck.

What do you do when it gets too cold during the winter? What do you do with the plastic container and the plant inside of it?
@KhatiyaKorner5 жыл бұрын
I live in growing zone 9A and 9B and we do not get snow in the winter but we do get frost. It sort of die in the winter. Since I grow in a container I just close the lid and like you see majority grows back from the soil. Also it is easy and cheap, only $1.50 a bag so I can always grow it again. It grows quickly too.

I did like you said. Try to cover for the hot day just onlt 1 day. Find out the next day it's all die and goes brown
@KhatiyaKorner5 жыл бұрын
What state are you in? Where I live it gets hot but dry so that is why I have to add water and cover it. Some days I cover all the way and some days I leave a little open for air to go in and out. Make sure there is water and sunlight when you cover.
my only worry is the soil becoming anaerobic. I will use cement mixer container with hole in the bottom and then water reg to keet moist, with a clear lid to raise the humidy. thank you for sharing
@KhatiyaKorner4 жыл бұрын
As long as you are able to maintain a high humidity then it should be good. I’ve been using this method for years just because it low maintenance.

@KhatiyaKorner4 жыл бұрын
Yes the soil has to be moist at all time. As for the cover I go according to the weather. Right now it is cover because it not as hot. But I leave it open a little bit from time to time to let the air flow.
@sadethlee93094 жыл бұрын
Khatiya Korner when I water it,, the water just drains out from the container. I think I drilled too many holes. I may have to place a tray on the bottom of the container to catch the water from draining out. I enjoy watching your show. Your children are so cute, love your backyard, and cooking recipes. You can bring the container inside in the winter so it doesn't freeze
@KhatiyaKorner5 жыл бұрын
I add just enough water into the container to create the hot and humid effect. The water evaporate pretty fast during the hot summer month so far no worries about mosquito.
@KhatiyaKorner5 жыл бұрын
@Just Music, yes in some state where it snow, it can be brought in. In my state it does not snow but do get cold. I just leave it cover and don't do anything to it. No water or nothing and when the temperature warms up I just replant again, like in the video and there were some that regrew from last year.
