This is exactly right! I have been focusing on these things in my diet for about three months. I quit eating sugar, focus on protein, and I’m eating unprocessed food. I’m having the best results! Leaning out all over including my stomach. Also completely solved an uncomfortable bloating problem I was having. And she’s right when she says it’s not that hard once it’s your lifestyle. It has gotten so much easier than I could have ever imagined! I actually really like eating this way.

Did you quit sugar 100% ? I find it quite easy on weekdays but on weekends it a real struggle for me to have zero refined sugar- I’m just wondering how you do it…

@@jisue3517 there are definitely some challenging moments. I use a lot of strategies. One is to always have a heavy protein breakfast and just protein protein protein in every snack and meal! That helps keep me off that roller coaster appetite. I always make sure I’ve just eaten before going to the store. I try to always have a lot of good options at home and keep the environment set up for success that way. I’m always looking for ways sugar is sneaking into my diet and eliminating it because the less you have the easier it is. I still have things like fruit and I do eat carbohydrates. But I’ve found I don’t crave the unhealthy carbs like I used to like bread, I don’t want it. I’ve been trying to do this for ten years and it always felt impossible but now suddenly everything clicked. Just keep developing your strategies, work smart not hard is the best way to approach it I’ve found. You can do this!

Do you take any protein powder, if so , which one? ? I have always been afraid of it, afraid it will make gain wait! 😢

@@lulukah6429 I have protein powder every day! I’m vegetarian (most of the time) and so I use one called orgain that is plant based. I put it in oatmeal (vanilla) and I make shakes with it (chocolate). It will most definitely not cause weight gain and will help a lot with appetite and fueling your gains 😀 the muscle kind that is.

This is excellent information. I just turned 50. My nutritionist took refined sugar, butter, breads from me. I've lost 35 lbs in the first 5 months, bit in the last few months I'm at a stand still. I'm losing, but it's a lbs and no more. I'm definitely excited to cross your page

Good call on not including giving up sugar and alcohol in the same video!! Lol that's my big hangup is the alcohol 😕...I've got the hormones down, getting sleep, eating protein, weight lifting... i've been going to the gym for almost a year now, and I see women all the time on these treadmills and I'm not really seeing much results for them, but I am seeing results for me and I know if I could just work on my eating habits more and give up alcohol It would show even more. This is amazing if you will just commit to it, and then the body will start showing you your work and it makes you just keep going!!!...Thank you, Melissa! ❤️

I was doing most of the right things as well, but kept drinking. And, personally drinking leads to over eating. The only way I actually managed to reduce alcohol drastically, is recognising how many calories the alcohol contained. Once I viewed a glass of wine as 100 calories min, and I put so much effort in my diet and exercise, I was done ruining all those efforts. And belly reduced really quickly. And sleep improved, I sleep like a baby now. It's priceless! Wishing you the best!

Thank you for this and the travel video. We’re about to travel and I’m feeling discouraged. I’ve been sitting at the same weight for about 3 weeks and not seeing muscle gain. I need to drink more water and consider the hidden sugar sources. In truth, I could be OK with my weight/the way I look. It’s this blasted belly!! ☺️🫣

Thank you ❤ . I gave up sugar over a month ago and now i eat mainly protein. I have 100% more energy. If i break down and add a breaded meat i feel awful and inflamed everywhere...esp my hand and arm joints. It makes my body not want the processed/ breaded food now to avoid the pain. ❤

I’m 41. Newly married, still hoping for a baby with my husband. I gained some “newlywed weight” and it looks like it went all to my stomach. I’ve started back walking and lifting again to prep my body for pregnancy…and can see results all over my body …except for the stomach. 😢. I acknowledge my sugar intake has increased this past year and I know this. Will definitely pivot to decreasing/eliminating the sugar. Thank you for this. ❤

I discovered this week that I lost fat in my armpits. That’s not last-place-first for me, and I don’t need to be skinny there! Last week I lost some significant fat off my abs by adding 20 minutes of walking to some of your barbell routines. (I couldn’t do it this week because I sprained my knee when my son’s Maine Coon ran under my feet.) Hopefully this week goes back to losing belly fat, which is the last place the fat went on. Soy is in everything in the US, speaking of gut health. I’m allergic now. They even feed soy leaves and stems to hens so the eggs are full of soy, and the yolks are yellow instead of orange. A chemist told me it’s not a gluten issue in the US, but commercial brown wheat is grown with Round Up, which is banned in the UK and Europe because it causes cancer and is a hormone disruptor. I switched to hard red wheat (pesticides free) which is also 11.7% protein per serving, compared to 2-3% for soft brown wheat. Bought a bread machine; no more soy infused bread, too!

My sister and I can’t eat the gluten without getting stomach problems. I was thinking it was from the pesticide that was causing the stomach problems, not necessarily the gluten also. Where do you buy the hard red wheat?

I had good results with toning after signing up for your 12 week exercise programme. At 56 I have a lot of weight to lose - over 30 kilograms. Loved this You tube video! I am also trying all of your tips! I battle with tummy fat, also due to 4 operations I had cutting through my tummy muscles. I have a huge tummy. But, I am doing your strength exercises to firm up my core.😁

the only thing that helped me was mini tramp rebounding daily...somehow it signaled my body to quit storing fat and I became leaner and happier cuz it finally felt like I wasn't an alien in my body...

Was coincidentally eating my little bit of 85% dark chocolate while watching this ! 😆Absolutely agree,very low carbs and extremely little sugar works for me , I’ll be 60 next year and have a flat belly and still the same weight as I was in my twenties,even after having 3 children…throughout the years the one thing that increased my belly size / weight is carbs especially once I reached the mid 50s

I am good at following my macros and exercise while at home. I fall off track while traveling though so would love to have a video dealing with that. Weighing and measuring my food while away from home just isn’t feasible. Thank you Melissa for all of your advice and videos!

What are good proteins? Have you done a video on this? I am always tired but I can't sleep for more than 5 hours at night. My belly is like an 8 months pregnant woman's can't shift it 😢 I know, I haven't wrote anything positive, I just feel like giving up, I'm 53 and miserable.

But eating protein and not lifting won’t help. I am slim fat. I eat extremely clean for the past 2 years. I exercise, yoga, walk, stair climbing etc, I lost weight mostly in my legs and I hate that because I already have skinny legs lol. My lower belly has a pooch that won’t go away. My weight is constant. My suspect is I am eating too much protein and not lifting weights.

I’m 5’6” at 120 pounds, I looke skinny but my belly is bigger from what it should be.I cook at home and to eat really clean, even the dressing on my salads with spinach, beans, peppers, avocados, seeds, which I eat every day is made of olive oil and vinegar, mainly protein, light dinners, mangoes, blueberry’s and oats for brkfst, fish at least twice a week, filets for meat chicken with no added sauces, only spices the worst is dark chocolate for me but only a third of a bar 85% cacao, I’m 60 and I go to the gym every morning for resistance training, weights,I walk every morning, do Pilates and yoga once a week, weight machines, sauna 3 times a week..and on weekends I go for hikes or make at least 10 k steps, take supplements like fish oil, probiotics calcium, magnesium, vitamin c,d3, not sure why my belly is still flaccid and only growing bigger😢

I attended a Sonobello virtual consultation to try and shrink this belly fat. That woman tried to tell me that what i needed would be $17,500 because the visceral fat never goes away. 🤔🤥 I dont even have a large belly like i can look down and see my hooha, so i was confused on why it was so much and why she blantantly lied to me about getting rid of belly fat, especially when you don't have a large belly like i don't. That encounter encouraged me to go even harder in my workouts and diet.

U can do it!!! Melissa’s info via KZbin and IG shorts has helped me for about 4 weeks now and I am seeing slow but SURE changes for the better. B gentle w urself. We did not gain all at once so we will not lose all at once. In about 6 weeks u r going to say, “Wow!!” about yourself. Melissa is FABULOUS, truly. Can you please clarify something for me? If I want to weigh 120 lbs, the. I should be eating 120 gms of protein per day or per meal? So if 3.5 oz of chicken breast is 98 grams, then I can only have a little more than .5 oz of chicken breast for the rest of the day? That doesn’t seem like very much food or protein, so I’m a little confused. Can you please help?

A 3.5oz of (skinless) chicken breast may only contain 31g of protein as it consists of other nutrients as well. It would be best to check the macros of the food you will intake via Chronometer or MyFitnessPal online to find out the actual amount of protein you'll be taking in per food that you eat. Those apps/websites will also help you determine which food to eat to achieve your goal of protein intake per day.

Weight lifting is great overall, especially as we lose muscle mass when aging. Also, you'll start lifting light weights, but by the time you'll lose weight, you'll see arms and shoulders definition, it's motivating. By then you can probably increase your weight a bit. Also, your back muscles will strengthen and your posture will improve, and with just that you look and feel better. Good luck!

Notes for self: Reduce white sugar/white processed foods Gut Health: eat fumented food, kimchi etc is good. Protein! Helps metabolism, always have protein with every meal 1 gram of protein for every 1lb of body weight. Protein powder. Sleep: helps with inflammation and lowering belly fat. Go to bed at 22.00

Thank you! I have a problem with belly fat. I will start with eliminating processed sugar and processed food. I need to do this for my overall health as well. Getting to bed by 10pm may not happen right away, but that will be my goal.

You showed oatmeal, but arent those carbs? Do you eat them bland? Or do you put in dates or something? And if I give up carbs can i replace with beans and legumes?
