Have you got any great tips for increasing your EMTB riding speed? 👀 👇
@JohnRushworth2 жыл бұрын
My tip is two sets of wheels. I have a set of 24 spoke Mavic trail wheels with Schwalbe Marathon Plus MTB tyres which are great for the road and light trails, with less rolling resistance. The other set are 32 spoke enduro DT Swiss with Super Gravity Magic Marys for more serious off-road. Same cassette on both with changed gearing for 25 mph in top at 80 rpm cadence. Same discs, 220 up front and 203 rear. No point in going fast downhill if you can’t stop!

Changed my Stance E2 over to a 12 speed with XT rythm cassette (10-45). Bike has both good top end and low end mostly use 10 tooth down hill.

Get a bafang ultra and stick a 54 tooth narrow wide on the front and get a 54v battery 65km top speed it's what I use on my hard tail for commute if that's not enough get a new controller and go to 3000 watts

@@argusauge4812 cant bring that into your office I stick to 500 watts m600 for trails limited to 45km euro limits are ridiculous I've got 45 50 kmh on my race bike before I got ebike just knees aren't up to it anymore
@Jay-qt1wm2 жыл бұрын
If you can pedal faster than 15 mph do not bother buying a ebike as you will be pedaling a 25 kg bike about. So de-restrict it and enjoy it.

@coreytaggart1282 жыл бұрын
I would be carful with increasing speeds, many bikes are speed capped to keep them within the spec that that law defines as an e-bike instead of a motorcycle. Once you pass out of that area you suddenly have totally different laws applied to you, both for what you have to do (insurance/safety equipment) as well as how you behave (you are now a motorvehicle and subject to laws as such)
@tuunaes2 жыл бұрын
That limit is only for how long motor keeps assisting. You can yourself pedal ebike faster than that limit just like with normal bike. (though of course have to stay inside speed limit of the road)
@lmaoroflcopter2 жыл бұрын
@@tuunaes that speed limit thing you mention... Speed limits apply only to motorised vehicles, an e-bike is not a motorised vehicle in the eyes of the RTA. You can go as fast as you like unassisted on a bicycle, but anything more than 250W capable motors and assist speeds above 15.5mph will put you in hot water with the law, unless you're riding a type approved s-pedelec (they exist, you can buy them in the UK) aka a Light Electric Moped which takes you to 500W and 29.5mph, but that requires a cat P licence, specific vehicular insurance rather than the 3rd party only public liability insurance that likely covers you from your contents insurance and a vrm to be shown (single plate rear, like a scooter or moped) and lights, a motorbike helmet, etc and you can no longer ride on shared use paths, only roads.
@tuunaes2 жыл бұрын
@@lmaoroflcopter You want to try that? Darn certain you're going to get your ass spanked hard in court, if you go 40 km/h in some 20 km/h limit street and hit something! Pretty certain cops won't be looking away either if you do easily achievable in downhill 50km/h in combined bike/pedestrian lane.
@lmaoroflcopter2 жыл бұрын
@@tuunaes There are no speed limits on pedal cycles (or pedelec) in the UK. You may end up in court for reckless/furious cycling, but you won't end up in court over a speed limit. " *Speeding offences* Because bikes aren’t fitted with speedometers, cyclists can’t be charged with speeding offences. HOWEVER, if they are considered to be going too fast for the conditions, they could be charges with ‘wanton or furious cycling’ which is a criminal offence under section 35 of the Offences Against the Persons Act 1861 (as amended by the Criminal Justice Act 1948 s1(2))"

Keep riding. It goes away. You just need to keep at it. Changing your seat may help, but once you have conditioned your body for your new activity it get easier and less painful.

Your missing the point of a pedal assist ebike.
@tuunaes2 жыл бұрын
If motor assists above 25 km/h, is over 250W continuously or runs without pedalling, it's no longer road legal without things like insurance/registration requirements of MOTOR VEHICLES etc coming into play.
