It was interesting and like you say there are lots of beginners. I could have used this for my first zipper bag. During the lock down I got into vinyl bags. I have a midgrade industrial juki. I've had it since 2008. It's a workhorse. Now I'm back to quilting. Also making tote bags for shopping for when the kids come home this summer. That way they don't have to buy bags. Where did all these scraps come from. I believe you this summer I will be putting my quilting frame back up. I loved the video while I was going through another tote full of fabric. ❤️

It sounds like you have a great machine, that’s awesome Vivi! And a quilting frame too…. Yay! Nearest ago when we were still in our house, I had a quilting frame, but it was just too large to bring to a small apartment.I know there is someone who does longarm quilting down your way, do you happen to know who it is? A friend of mine who lives near there is also a quilter, and she makes purses, too. I’ve made quite a few grocery bags, but I haven’t made them for like the hot cold insulated ones. That’s going to be my next try. Sounds like you have everything well in hand!

I've used zippers in clothing but usually I don't make bags so something new for me to try a zipper bag a new challenge, haha
@MariesScrappyCreations2 жыл бұрын
It’s kind of the opposite thing for me, ha ha. I have only put a few zippers in clothing, and believe me those were easy ones. I don’t sew clothese, so it’s a whole different thing to put a zipper in a bag, than it is to put one into a shirt, skirt or a pair of pants. I’m sure you know all about that, though. I actually just took a hooded sweatshirt and put two zippers in it for my brother. He is on kidney dialysis and he needed a sweatshirt to wear for warmth. But, the right arm had to be accessible for the blood pressure cuff and the port in the upper right side of his chest had to be accessible. So my dilemma was how to make it so that he could wear a sweatshirt for warmth during treatment, yet still have those areas available for the medical equipment. So, I took the stitches out of the right sleeve of the sweatshirt so that I was working with a flat piece and I put a 22” zipper going from the shoulder to the wrist - it started unzipping at the cuff, opening as it went up, if that makes sense. Then I put a piece of fusible interfacing from the collar area, going diagonally towards the sleeve and then cut it and put in a zipper so that they could access his port for the dialysis.

Good morning Barryna. I have been having a hard time my zipper looks like it has wave. Just got one side on and the other has the big snaps in the way. With numb hands and fingers that don't work well it is not easy. Hi Marie, I followed your pattern but without the tab. To cover the raw edges of the zipper I covered it with two pieces of lace. I did the same with the side seams as the lace was wide enough to wrap around comfortably around raw edges of the side seams. You could probably use a binding too but perhaps don't take it to the bottom edges as it may get too bulky. Just a thought.
