Great video, I’d never heard of laminated cotton before watching this. However, I’ve only been sewing for a year, I taught myself when I was off work for an extended period so I could make face masks. I’ve started making placemats…for my cats. They’re sloppy eaters and the placemats sold in stores are not large enough. Laminated cotton with a grippy back is exactly what I need so thank you! This is also a project I can tackle with my very modest sewing skills, especially since the masks I make are basically tiny pleated placemats 😆 Thank you again!

This may be silly question, but where/how do you get laminated cotton? Is it something you buy already laminated?

You can buy laminated cotton from most fabric shops (you can get it from Amazon as well. I'll pop some links in the description box for you to check out). You can also buy a product called Heat n Bond Iron on Vinyl which will enable you to create your own laminated fabric with any cotton fabric you like.

I buy most of mine from Deborah at www.etsy.com/people/JustLaminates. There are other vendors on ETSY. I find it hard to find in stores. Fabric.com has a limited selection.

What size needle? When I've tried to using a sewing machine on this type of fabric before the needle sticks in the fabric.

I mostly use a universal 90/10 needle for most of my sewing projects. I've never had an issue with the needle sticking in the fabric so hopefully that will help 😀
