One factor often overlooked is exercise. Joel Fuhrman was a professional athlete, a world class figure skater. When a person spends two to sometimes 8 hours a day doing vigorous exercise or work at a young age their heart, lungs, certain muscles and entire CARDIOVASCULAR SYSTEM becomes stronger, larger and more resilient than that of the average American that only does moderate physical activity. This is with Dr. Fuhrman his whole life. His version of feeling "GOOD " takes it to a whole new level. His ability to do physical activity at a high level all day long exceeds the average American many times. Stamina for Dr. Fuhrman is no problem. Thank you Dr. Fuhrman for what you do! My diet is a mix of your diet and the Mcdougall program which I started in the late 1980's I gotta have my oatmeal and potatoes. Great Videos Dr.Furman, keep up the good work, YOU ARE AMAZING!

@Book Worm the problem is the way they process the meat. If your in America spewing because their average red meat is packed with chemicals and the way its raised then killed is a cause for alarm by anyone. Also life expectancy wasnt this high so ofc we are still learning what affects us at 80 when we 20

Yes I do too. I don’t have cereals. They don’t seem to like me much. Sometimes I eat steamed veg and sometimes I do a smoothie of apple cucumber carrot berries, cinnamon, ginger nutmeg and add kelp, magnesium, vit D, B12, zinc. I don’t have all those spices or all the supplements everyday, I chop and change them about.

XD FYI I know Dr. Fuhrman and he has good point with most of his dietary tips. But he is too dogmatic and these supplements are just money grab, sorry :) If your diet NEEDS supplements, this isn't very good diet for starters, you may think, right? ;) And "my starches" is basic human food like... forever :) I'm in quite good health for a 38yo smoker with very unhealthy job ;) Kisses :*

There should be a big warning sign on this breakfast. Flax and chia seeds are both extremely high in fiber. If you're not used to eating a high fiber diet, this will probably make your gut go crazy. Do not eat this breakfast the first time if you're going to be anywhere that digestive sounds may be an embarrassment. I would recommend making some oatmeal and adding a 1/4 - 1/2 tbsp of each to try it out. Chia seeds absorb a lot of liquid and make a kind of jelly. Whatever you put them in will get really thick. It is not necessary to grind them. As others have mentioned, the flax seeds must be ground for you to be able to digest them. Don't buy flax seed meal, it will go rancid before you can use it. I have a mortar and pestle that I use. I haven't tried this, but it does not sound like something I would enjoy eating. I've had good luck with adding flax and chia seeds, as well as hemp hearts to steel cut oatmeal as more of a garnish or mix-in, not as the bulk of the dish.

Love it. The only thing I would say is that when people are needing to be active first thing, oats might not facilitate this due to the time taken for them to digest and energy to kick in. So for those people, optimal blood glucose is needed immediately. This is achieved with sugar / maple syrup instead of fats, since combined together, they cause blood sugar imbalances. Obviously, sugar is not optimal. It's just something which helps maintain a plant-based diet including rice, legumes, fruits, veggies, plus a handful of nuts/seeds.

That mixture doesn’t look very good, but I’m sure it taste great otherwise you wouldn’t be eating it. My girlfriend is very thin and she will not mix fruit with anything, she swears that it will upset your digestive system and it upsets her stomach if she mixes fruit with anything else so she has a big plate of fruit first thing in the morning and digest that before she eats anything else. So what are your thoughts on eating fruit by itself?

I would imagine your weight loss has more to do with the “food” you cut out than what you replaced it with. Everyone is always looking for magical foods that will make them healthier when in reality it’s all the toxicity they expose themselves to that they need to get away from. Addition by subtraction. Eating the same exact diet as this dr. could still damage you if the quality of the food is toxic, e.g.; GMO, glyphosate, and other chemicals. Disclaimer: I’m not a doctor albeit I have a lifelong experience of critical thinking.

No living creature has ever taken any vitamins or supplements for evidence based reasons. Did you meet in person the chemists and factory workers that made and created that stuff in the lab? I really wish that you would have stressed to the viewers never to buy ground flax seeds. They begin to go rancid as soon as they are ground. Always buy whole flax seeds then grind them fresh as you use them. I wonder how long your flax seed was ground before they were used? If you need to save on time then grind a weeks worth at a time and keep in fridge.
