Probiotics are critical to protecting and rebuilding the gut. They compete with bad gut bugs and yeast, modulate intestinal function, and are essential to changing and improving immune function. They are also anti-inflammatory, they help us break down food, and they build nutrients. In this episode of my Masterclass series, the second in a series on gut health, I am interviewed by my good friend and podcast host, Dhru Purohit, about how probiotics work in the gut, the best fermented foods to eat, and much more.
Dhru Purohit is a podcast host, serial entrepreneur, and investor in the health and wellness industry. His podcast, The Dhru Purohit Podcast, is a top 50 global health podcast with over 30 million unique downloads. Guys, thx for MH content! I cast a wide net incl. Attia, Li, Lyon, OTL, Chatterjee, Axe, Huberman, Sinclair, Lugavere…All excellent. I met Mark ~2014, attended weekend intensive @ Kripalu/Blood Sugar Solution. He told us then that in 10 yrs epigenetics would become mainstream. I don’t mind the pitches / trust & expect these folks to put superior products on the shelves-- consumers can choose or not. I welcome the degree of detail Mark provides. As all these docs et al are cultivating huge fan clubs atm I hope they can keep their egos in check! Humility is always appreciated :-)

these interviews are very helpful however it would be even better if we had the names of the probiotics spelled out properly and links provided. also something worth knowing which I picked up from Alberto Villoldo is how to take them the right way. most people don't know that the capsules need to be emptied and stirred into liquid first so they can come alive (as most of them are freeze dried) before taking them. if they 'wake up' in your stomach they will be destroyed before they can do any good.

Hello! I watched your videos and interview with Cynthia Li was very interesting. I know you may not see this comments, but if you do, I have one question: so Im trying to find a way , a solution for healing my eczema (cause I feel I'm done with steroids) so It's been 2 months since I eliminated sugar, dairy, gluten, eggs... took probiotic , now taking L-glutamine, and unfortunately there not much changes, actually have quite bad flare up. Does it mean it just didnt work for me? Because people see result within couple-few weeks. Thanks)

The shipping process play a roll here too, when someone order a pre-probiotic supplement online, by the time the customer get the supplement the pre-probiotic are probably not alive as the UPS trucks and USPS trucks can get as hot as 500 degrees sometimes. This is my biggest issue shopping supplements online. The supplements have been exposed to high temperatures on these trucks, I know for sure neither UPS, Fedex, or USPS have a refrigerator in their trucks.

Thank you for another educational video. After 2 years of digestive issues, i finally found out the reason was heavy metals in my urine test. It is coming from my " safe" deep well according to state standards for a home sell. Apparently they don't tst these things during the well testing. Anyway i was having constipation again shorty before these well findings. I tested positive for SIBO. Thing is, if i use miralax to keep things going, NOTHING food wise bothers me. Not fibers and not crout. My question is, could i just be in disbyosis and have a faule positive SIBO? Ive been eating zero surger, zero processed foods, no grains but rice maybe a handful of times a month in small quantities, and i have been eating veggies, fruits and meat. Taking L-glutamine and beef bone broth. Im thinking mayne im jist in such a gut disbyosis that i need to trest the gut with herbs so i can finally not be constipated...id say 2 years kf arsenic and uranium in the drinking water hasnt helped. Maybe i am in SIBO and just not bothered as long as i keep things moving?

Some probiotics do not make it to your intestines. I take Doterra probiotic because it’s double capsulated. Went to gastroenterologist because of gas and bloating. Once I got on their probiotic and Terrazyme I am much better. I am also lactose intolerant so have to be careful with that. Anything that says sugar free I cannot tolerate. Most of this started as I aged.

Probiotics and prebiotics are essential in this day and age of fast food and processed foods, however, supplements are suspiciously expensive and do not help unless your diet is void of processed carbs, all processed sugars, processed meat products, wheat flours, processed grains. Google probiotic food and prebiotic foods and introduce these in your diet instead of pricey supplements. This guy does have tried and true info on healing your gut through diet which also heals the brain but recently has been on the money grab. His book is very good.
