Eat meat and eggs. I live on a farm. Fresh chicken eggs everyday! Hey Sal, you said once that if you get 15% stronger it will make daily activities 15% easier. Yesterday my son and I both got our riding lawnmower stuck in some mud and after 6 months of resistance training it was 15% easier to pick the lawnmower up out of the mud! Thanks guys! yall are my daily podcast

As a communications major, I get so much flack from people telling me i “just learn how to talk.” People think communication is an inherent capability, but it is definitely a skill and after studying it for 4 years I can attest to that. The things I learn are life changing!

Trying to take down 1g/lb of protein at 215 lbs is pretty tough, and it has definitely helped with my habit to snack on other foods because I'm more focused on hitting the protein goal. I wish I would've known just how important getting enough protein was.

As a 5'9", 160 pound hardgainer, what kind of carb to protein ratio should I be using? I workout, fully body 3-4 times per week. I know I need carbs for fuel but I can feel the inflammation, especially in the knees, hips. On "off" days I do so HIIT biking or sprinting. I walk two miles with my dog every day. My goal is to get to 175 in a year. Thanks.

Have a custom butcher about 15 mins away out in the country. They do a lot of work for the state fair and is a great place to get locally grown meats from the farms that are grass fed. Ribeyes can be pricey but well worth it. Also dig their pork belly cuts. Been thinking about getting involved with a co op to see about buying a cow with some family friends to save $ on beef.

I remember once in my family's old place my daughter fell down the stairs after her and my wife came and woke me up. To this day I don't know how I got down those stairs. All I remember is my daughter screaming, and it was one of those gut wrenching screams that puts fear into parents. Next thing I know I was at the bottom of the stairs holding my daughter. It just happened so quickly, it was like i teleported or something.

It's so expensive to buy red meats here these days 😢🇦🇺 I could do minced (ground) meat though if that's just as good? Or stir fry cut style. But have always purchased grass fed and 90% lean if possible, unless i eat lamb but thats not lean but super yummy and $$$ 😢. But even then, I can only eat it at most 3x week as it tends to sit in my gut way too long and i feel too "heavy". But I guess eating it 3x week is better than only once a week so will just start to do that. Thx guys!

I do strength training muscle development health and osteoporosis , I developed osteoporosis in my 30s from years of dieting under-eating over-exercising but now I'm trying to make things right with my health doing Health the right way, I have only been strength training for 2 years I'm not very strong I know the harder we lift the more density it makes in the bones but I can't lift very heavy For example the most I can squat is 30-lb the most I can deadlift is 40 lb if I use heavier weights my form gets affected ,, is it possible to still build bone density despite not being able to lift very heavy?? I do want to get stronger , I also change my diet a bit I was eating 2500 calories but I gained too much body fat I was strength training also so I did build some muscle but now I've cut down my calories down to 2,000 a day after talking to a dietitian she said that's a good amount for me I make sure I get enough protein for muscle and bone but along with building bone density for my osteoporosis I would like to lose this extra pounds I've gained from the 2500 calories I was eating since I gained too much weight off that amount that tells me 2500 was too much for my body but I know you guys usually promote more than 2,000 for a female? Eventually I will try reverse dieting

As far as Marilyn, women were frowned upon if they did things that were noted as 'manly'. My mom still says lifting weights is bad for you, its what they brainwashed women with back then. She's 71. That entire generation was still deep in the thought that women belonged home being frail housewives pumping out babies. I'm so glad that's not the case any longer. Now, back to my MAPS program. 🙂

Couple things-- 1). I'm struggling to understand why anyone would knowingly play russian roulette with money over just opening a new account at another bank once you cross the 250k threshold. 2) I feel like maybe had Marilyn Monroe lived a little longer and aged a bit more, she would have been forced to pivot out of acting more and use her name to promote other things (like weight training). That's kinda what I see with all these middle aged actresses; they've started swearing their allegiances to Covergirl for example claiming that it'll keep them young.

Vegan and I don't recommend going vegan without consulting with a vegan dietitian. Note I say dietitian, not nutritionist. And, note that I say vegan dietitian. Just like it's a good idea to keep your speciality to what you know as a fitness trainer, it's the same story when it comes to dietitians. A lot of dietitians do not specialise in vegan diets and really can't help vegans. The unfortunate truth is, you're correct, it's easy to run into deficiencies. Digestive issues are also a minefield because of the high fibre content, so you really have to watch fibre intake and if there's any vegans watching I recommend looking into Will Bulsiewicz for help with this. I can eat 160+ grams of protein a day with my eyes closed, and I'm female. Times have changed, this would not have been possible 10-20 years ago. There are products out there now that are very high in protein, and very low in fat if you want to avoid it. Protein powders, pea/fava protein chunks, there are healthy fake meats if you look hard enough (NOT beyond burger), there's the usual tofu/tempeh, soy milk is really high in protein, there are a lot of legume pastas out there, there's vital wheat gluten, and there are pastas that are made almost entirely of vital wheat gluten. PB2 powder is great. Legume-based protein powders/protein don't cause me any digestive issues because most of the fibre has been removed. Legumes should not be your main protein source. They should be a carbohydrate source that can be used to bump up your protein intake, and you should seek out vegetables that are also higher in protein. Love you guys and thanks for keeping it honest!
@megavegan5791
@megavegan5791 Жыл бұрын
While I agree that there are some nuances people need to be aware of to be successful on a vegan diet long-term (e.g., B12 supplementation), I disagree wholeheartedly that you need to consult with a vegan dietitian or a nutritionist before starting a vegan diet. If you don’t have the knowledge to change your diet yourself, then you also don’t have the knowledge to evaluate and choose a qualified professional who will advise you properly. That’s how people end-up on raw-food vegan diets and chugging 10-banana smoothies. For people in my life who ask me for my advice, I just tell them to eat more fruits, vegetables, greens, whole intact grains, and soy products (best source of vegan protein) and keep the ultra-processed mock-meats to a minimum; by default, simply eating more of those foods will crowd-out some of the animal-based foods.
