I’m from the extreme north of the Philippines and this food is so precious. The council of elders in our place are regulating the consumption of these delicious palms so it would not disappear in the future.

Mark, here in Brazil we call 'palmito' and it is a traditional food here, but culturally consumed by natives of the Amazon, also consumed with honey as a sweet

To be honest, I didn't like you the first time I watched, but I found myself coming back time after time for MORE! More learning, more experiencing thru you, more happiness from your infectious enthusiasm. Now I can't get enough and am always surprised at all the places you've been. palm hearts are one of my favourite foods. I grow them and there is nothing fresher and more delicious than fresh palm hearts. but I only get a few every year.

*You can get similar product from a banana tree...they usually discard the trees after harvesting the bananas...and the other hand...palm trees like in the video are becoming and endangered specie...and take years to grow...*

This is unique. In southern India, the leaves of this palm are fed to the domesticated elephants and it is called elephant palm. Never knew the tree also was edible. Amazing vlog. #chompingchampion

Kithul is used to make for treacle syrup. But in South India like Mangalore, it is used to make sweet flat Jaggery or Gur rich in iron n vitamins.

you need one of the trees for home the chilies must be have some bite mark though so
