Hi Vui Fj, it's the same here in the Philippines... I grew up in the city but I had seen very similar methods of cooking and food preparation in the provinces here like using bamboo for cooking rice as well as local dishes over fire, coconut husks are also used for fuel... that wooden chair with a metal scraper for extracting coconut flesh to make coconut milk is also used here though I hadn't seen one in over 15 years -- even the sound and the way P'You scraped the coconut is the same sound you'll hear here. Recipes differ and vary through regions but very similar. It's really amazing to realize how connected we all are here in Southeast Asia and it would be really interesting to go back thru time to trace our shared past and discover more... And wow, P'You needs his own channel! 🙂
