The spicy chicken burger is my favorite. Every time I go to Shanghai I order at least 2 of them per visit. I even buy extra to take back to the hotel that I stay at during the trip. Unlike most spicy chicken sandwiches, this one doesn't look spicy on the outside, but it has quite the bit of a spicy numbness to it. I'd say it has a good balance of spice to it, not so spicy, but at the same time not too plain/normal/non-spicy, compared to the spicy chicken in the US. In the US it's either spicy or not spicy enough.

I'm really surprised US McDonald's hasn't noticed how interested Americans are in McDonalds food abroad. I think they could get a lot of business having international items come in like they do with the McRib. I'd at least feel more inclined to eat something when I take my son for a happy meal!

Here in So Cal, McD's recently started offering just one or two international items but only at select locations and only for a limited time. Sadly none are offered in my area. I agree with you that McD's could make lots of money from those of us that want the international offerings. I only go to McDs when they have fillet of fish during lent, otherwise it's too expensive for what they give you. I'd go more often if they served boba teas, fried chicken wings, taro and mango pies, other pies like peach or custard too, German sausage sandwiches, dark meat spicy chicken fillet, macarons. I'd seriously hit up the self service soft ice cream station if it is offered!

MacDonald China has actually improved dramatically in the last three years since the video was made. It added a lot of new options and seasonal choices. First, the Taro pie has always been a signature MacDonald snack for more than a decade. One costs 7 and 2 cost 10.5 RMB. Second, MacDonald added a 12 RMB combo option that is extremely cheap. You can get a double cheeseburger/chicken burger and a taro pie/fries/drink/ice cream for only 12 RMB, which is like $1.7 US Dollars. Also, MacDonald China has specials almost every day at really cheap prices. During each World Cup, the spicy chicken sandwich will be at half price throughout the World Cup and the bread will be made in the shape of soccer balls. They also added special dinner items like baked whole chicken (which is very tender and juicy) with a light beer at a low price. My favourite is always the grilled chicken sandwich lol. For breakfast, you can get double grilled chicken McMuffin.

Fast food in the states is considered the cheaper option of food, a couple of dollars or even the dollar menu. But if you see how much it is in China after converting to RMB (Chinese currency) it’s almost all over 30 bucks, so it’s not cheap it’s actually more on the pricy side so ppl expect to get the same good quality for the price they are paying for. Hence the good quality in presentation, taste and variety! Glad you guys enjoyed it!

I'm living here in China, and that's not the case. With the deals they have on Meituan, you can get about forty US dollars worth of food for about fifteen dollars. I worked in McDonalds when I was at university. The McDs food over here is so much better. I need to satisfy my Western palate every once in a while, and I would eat McDs here, but not back home, because it's rubbish by comparison.

Oh shit!!! I am Shanghainese born and bred. That's my go-to McDonalds in Xujiahui! A fact about that place, few years back a homeless dude trynna sleep in there stabbed a staff to death for being asked to leave politely. Since you guys are in the Hai, make sure to visit Qibao Old Town and try the authentic soup dumplings there. Dingtaifung is fine but ain't no authentic XiaoLongBao in Shanghainese's eyes. Also, XiaoYangShengJian is the best Shengjian you can get in Shanghai. It is a chain ShengJian restaurant located all over Shanghai. Vert easy to find. You gotta try that too, bros.

I'm a white guy who has been living outside of the States for 7 years now. Speaking another language most of the time means I kind of lose out on the lingo and way of talking and stuff. I still speak English obviously but gatherings of friends like this are only when I go back to visit every once in a blue moon. So it really struck me that they sound like they're trying to imitate African-American English. "That look lit", "I gotta get dat", "I'ma throw a curveball", "yo", "that ain't mustard", etc. Plus the tone and the way they speak, too. It's funny because they seem to go in and out... like when they buckle down and try to say something serious they speak almost academically. Interesting. I'm not saying there's anything wrong with them speaking this way (maybe appropriation? I don't know), and I'm certainly not saying that that way of speaking is poor or wrong or anything like that. I just find it to be an interesting cultural point. What's the deal with it? Is it related to the rise of African-American culture via mediums like sports, NBA, hip-hop, etc.? I have to say that I've noticed it in my friends from back home as well, but these guys were a pretty strong case. One more time: not saying it's wrong or criticizing or anything. Just trying to dig into it since I find it interesting. I studied linguistics, FWIW. Thanks for the vid BTW, enjoyed it.
