In other words, their dominant hands were left and non dominant hand was right. Also some Sri lankans mixed all their food before eat. It’s mostly personal preferences. Just like some mixed as they continue to eat .

You mentioned the Lamprais is similar to an Indonesian dish you had. That's probably because of the Dutch influence. Both countries were Dutch colonies and the Lamprais is what we've inherited from the burgher community who are descendents from the Dutch. Love the dish!

Finally someone who ate with his hands rather than fork and spoon. The technique to eat with the hand is you basically take up a bit of the rice (after mixing will all the curries), and then push with your thumb into your mouth. Great video, I really miss my Sri lankan food living in England.

I Think the restaurant name Kurrypinch came from curry leaves. Here in Sri Lanka curry leaves are called 'karapincha'. And it is a key ingredient in Sri Lankan food.

I LOVE CURRY PIES!!! Ive never tried a mackeral one though hmm. I think the lamprais is something I would probably love because it reminds me of anotehr asian wrapped food Ive tried!! Hey there. nice video. good food. one thing to note though, when you are mixing Sri Lankan food, you don't normally mix the whole plate at once. it is kind of rude to do so. we mix only the bite we eat. then mix next bite. then again. but never the whole plate at once as it gets messy as :D

As a south Asian great video! my family eats with our hands regularly, don’t bring your hand to your face that way palms should face down. It’s usually the right hand not left that we use. Lefties end up using spoons or will master right handed eating..Great video thanks

@@sathirafernando6036 let me apologize and clarify, in India which is a majority Hindu country (whether anyone wants to admit it or not) so eating with right hand is essential and part of our culture..taking prasad offering from Temple is with right, eating with right hand..everything clean is with right hand..except bathroom which is left hand... Maybe for Sri Lankan Christians or Indian Christians it doesn’t matter but for us it does a lot. Left hand is used to wipe our butt in toilets so we don’t use it to eat.

First off eating with your hands is an experience all together . You don't go jump in and mix all at once . You move aside the curries by tips of your fingers and get to the rice . Then keep mixing the rice little at a time with the surrounding curry . Idea is to taste rice with Mix and match with sweet , sour or sweet spicy or Bitter with a milder curry .. sort of alternating rice with whatever curry on the plate .. that way you really get to enjoy the elements of the food served to you ..

I feel respected when you choose to eat by hand. If you a left hander you can use left hand to eat. I'm left hander and Sri Lankan i usually use left hand.
