hey all
so its been a little while since my last video,
i'm not going to say sorry instead i am going to say i'm coming back with a boom!
and we all like that! :)
so finally its time to crack open a bottle of this experimental stout made from stuff you can buy from the supermarket!!
so 1st off i can say this was a pretty good steer ( stout and beer)
the barley really did give its color and flavor over to the beer.
mouth coating with a malty and coffee flavor, not too much in the way of bubbles but enough so it's not flat like ale ( yukky)
considering its made from stuff you can buy at tesco its a fine brew.
I would suggest for those wanting to give this a try to double or triple the amount of roasted barley, that should give it that classic pitch black color and bitter sweet coffee flavor and of course more of a head ( personally head retention is more for looks )
I did and would drink this and i really did enjoy seeing if it can be done and you can. :)
some cheeky amazon links if you need some equipment or just want to have a goosie :)

hey :) just finished work .... fun times. i do like a stout now and again, its not something i would drink all evening but it does have its place :) coffee stout you say, i take it there is actual coffee in it? while this was a bit of fun to see if it is possible to make something stouty ( yep it is ) adding coffee would give this more stout like tastes not to mention color without alot of the work.... me thinks another experiment :D

Here is my go-to recipe. This should give you an idea of where to jump on to make something as good, but cheaper. Just Around Midnight A Beer Recipe By L. D. Beers Method: All Grain Style: Stout Mash Time: 90 Minutes Boil Time: 75 Minutes Batch Size: 5 Gallons 1) British Golden Promise - 11 lb ( 75 minute boil ) 2) English Chocolate Malt - 0.5 lb ( 75 minute boil ) 3) English Coffee Malt - 0.5 lb ( 75 minute boil ) 4) English Extra Dark Crystal - 0.5 lb. ( 75 minute boil ) 5) English Medium Crystal - 0.5 lb. ( 75 minute boil ) 6) Gambrinus Honey Malt - 0.5 lb. ( 75 minute boil ) 7) Fawcett Oat Malt - 0.5 lb ( 75 minute boil ) 8) English Roasted Barley - 0.75 lb ( 75 minute boil ) 9) UK Fuggle Hop Pellets 2 oz ( 60 minute boil ) 10) Irish Moss ( 15 minute boil) 11) Chicory Coffee 5.5 oz ( 5 minute boil ) 12) Dark Roast Coffee 5.5 oz ( 5 minute boil ) 13) Espresso Ground Coffee 5.5 oz ( 5 minute boil ) 14) Lactose - Milk Sugar 1 lb. ( after boil ) 15) White Labs Belgian Strong Ale WLP545 yeast ( 2 tubes ) Mash at 150F (65.5C) for 60 minutes, then 158F (70C) for 30 minutes. 75 minute boil. Add hops 15 minutes into the boil. Stir in lactose after the boil when the mort has cooled to 86 degrees Fahrenheit ( 30 degrees Celsius), add yeast. Ferment for 4 weeks in the primary, Rack it, and leave it around 40 Fahrenheit ( 7.2 Celsius ) for 2 to 3 weeks. keg it, force carbonate, the beer is ready to drink after 2. The coffee taste overpowers the other flavors when it is green. It really needs the time to settle down. If you are a really die hard coffee drinker you may enjoy this beers while it is green. OG: 1.089 FG: 1.023 ABV: 8.69% IBU: 27.34 SRM: 40 Summery This is a smooth stout once it ages, The coffee settles down after about two months in the keg. If you are a hardcore coffee drinker you will enjoy this beer when it is green.

This is like the third time I have tried to reply. Here is my go-to coffee stout recipe. This should be a start for you to create a recipe that is just as good but a bit cheaper.
