I LOVE small businesses. That's who I work with day in and day out and day in and day out. (I'm the copywriter GV yelled at a few years ago on a live video to call her clients, and it's something I haven't stopped doing!) But seriously, my clients are the best. It's truly an honor to translate someone's passion and product into words so they can sell more. Big businesses are so corporate, but smaller businesses are willing to be creative and have spicy copy to grab attention. I just stopped in for the first time in quite some time (been busy hustling, especially with all the copy that was needed for the holiday season), but FUCK GV this episode was FIRE. I've never thought of using Instagram in that way... time to add that to my daily strategy.

Internet small businesses have been able to completely remodel how the traditional brick and mortal retailer must do in order to stay in the thoughts of their customers and provided us with strategies that were never available to us before the existence of internet. The old school way to run a brick and mortar small business has benefited tremendously on the other hand if they take the actions necessary to adapt they start to lose the competitive edge with mindful presence in their customer base.

I worked at a small authentic Hawaiian coffee shop, and social media has made us a "trendy" spot. Because people posted our products on their pages, it attracted more customers. Also, we used Yelp to our advantage! We encouraged our customers to check in on Yelp, which gave them a discount and also makes them more likely to leave a good review. It's all about reaching out to as many people as possible, using tools like Instagram, Facebook, etc. because everyone uses those.
