Did the rice and beans challenge mess up your blood glucose? I’ve been doing high carb low fat vegan w sugar for a few days

Unfortunately, at the time of making the rice and beans video, I didn't have my glucometer. It would be an interesting thing to measure though. Perhaps a rice and beans round two is in order... High carb, low fat vegan with sugar is an interesting one. Could you elaborate? I'm curious.

@@daynedoesfitness5791 Basically when you eat carbohydrates and glucose you are flooding the brain with tryptophan and serotonin because the amino acids in high fat foods and meats compete with tryptophan to enter the brain- insulin leaves only tryptophan in- the brains main energy source is glucose and in keto you are basically starving yourself of it and that’s why people get keto flu. Dr Mcdougal explains how pure sugar and carbohydrates increase insulin sensitivity while high fat foods and oils increase insulin resistance leading to weight gain and diabetes. That’s because high fat foods block insulin receptors leaving excess amounts of sugar In the blood when they should be going to the cells that run on glucose

Interesting. I'll have to do some further reading on this. How low-fat are you going? If you go too low, I'd be concerned about developing a hormone imbalance. Sure, you may be optimizing for tryptophan and therefore serotonin, but what about all of the other hormones that are derived from fatty acids? My mind jumps to thyroid function and testosterone production for two. Like I said, I have to do some more reading on this. I'm all for self-experimentation - I just want to make sure you're doing things safely.
