Most of that most likely has to do with the government telling them what to do. The biggest problem in a divorce is what happens to the children. Otherwise, divorces would be pretty simple and straightforward. If both parents were good people, but they both passionately wanted to keep the kids, then the government would declared a 50/50 split with likely visitation.

@@putraduha3176 This. People glorify adoption but as both an adopted person AND an elementary teacher, let me tell you something. I have seen dozens of children adopted very young and most of them have issues. A few had extreme issues because the biological parents had been on drugs during pregnancy and after and the child was abused in various ways. It's nearly impossible to get an infant. By the time the child gets to you, they often have emotional issues that will haunt them their entire life. I was adopted at 3 and I see a therapist to this day. I'm 34.

When I studied in Wales one summer in grad school, the college took us on a tour of England for 3 weeks. When we would get to a particular site to tour, we were given bag lunches. By the time we got these lunches, we were so hungry we would wolf down anything. There was a guy in our group who was Muslim from Kuwait. He wolfed down the bag lunch just like the rest of us one day, only to discover later when it was time to get back on the tour bus, that the sandwiches were pork. They were something like ground up SPAM. He was so upset with himself and spent the bus ride back talking about how he repented to God. But one of my other friends said to him, "Yeah, God knows you didn't mean to eat it, but God saw you enjoy it." Even he had to laugh at that. 🤣🤣

Do not confuse malicious intent with impoverished upbringing. Anyone can be heartless and manipulative or compassionate and supportive. I've known a good number of people from different origins with a variety of creeds and beliefs. I've worked with people who grew up in abusive households and those who could afford to install elevators in their houses. People like to assume that everyone is good or bad and that upbringing is the only thing that can change that, and upbringing does instill some habits and beliefs, but I've know truly kind people and absolute scumbags who grew up on both sides. I won't say that people can't change, nor do I claim go know what makes someone who one becomes, but I will caution against making excuses for or condemning those you do not personally know. In the end, what matters is whether a person chooses to help others or live for itself.
