BBQ is soul food, and Al is a storyteller of its soul. This is a wonderful story of triumph over tribulations and the value of a loving community. God bless Stephen Joseph, his family, and his community for pouring out their hearts on each other and on this film, as it is an inspiration to us all. As for BBQ techniques, thanks also for showing us that smoking overnight at 200 degrees is a good thing, and it's fine to leave the membrane on ribs and also not glaze them, to chop brisket, to smoke with hickory wood, and to be a creative as you wish with seasonings. Kudos to Daniel Vaughn for discovering this diamond in East Texas, and to Al for shining a brilliant light on it.

Al, how is it that you continue to find these amazing stories? 3-generation building fire, reconstructed with a town surrounding Joseph. $287. Lebanese ribs? Swamp fries? Whatta story! Every time we watch your newest video, Sharon says, “I’m getting hungry, let’s have bbq today.” Well done - keep ‘em coming.
