Having been a vegetarian for more than 10 years, I was so used to eggs, but especially all kinds of cheeses. I did feel very frustrated when going plant based, as if l didn't eat enough. For me it was really pivotal to be organised to get daily calorie dense foods, and then top up with less caloric nutrient dense foods. Usually that means a 'base' of whole grains / pulses, sometimes starchy veg, and then add vegetables + spices/condiments for nutrients and taste. If you then add some fruit, nuts/seeds throughout the day, it definitely works for me. In the beginning, I really thought it was boring, but when you get used to it and develop cooking and prepping skills, it frees up so much time. And I don't have the cravings I used to have, or let's say not in a disruptive way :) Very nice vibe and good job!

Thanks for sharing, Sam! We agree with you, it definitely seemed bland as boring and a bit frustrating at first, but now we are so amazed at how versatile plant foods are!! Glad you’re finding success on this lifestyle, too!🙌🏻🌿🌿

I was a vegan for a year from 2015 to 2016. My pitfall was when I landed a job overseas in a war zone and living on a German military base for a year. We did not receive mail very often , especially during winter when we were cut off from any logistics. One day I went to a restaurant owned by local populace and I asked for a meal without meat. All they did was hand pick the lamb out of the giant pot of rice. I had a coworker who was also vegan and Muslim. During Ramadan all he ate were apples during his fasting. I wish I was a strong as him. I stuck to portage, bread and canned veggies (high sodium) and I developed the worst acne case I had ever experienced. I was also surrounded by negative coworkers who spoke poorly and outed me for my diet choice. Its year 2019, I just had a baby 2 months ago and already at pre-pregnancy weight and my acne has cleared. Small changes. I will go back overseas but I will definitely have a game plan the second time.

Please write a cookbook. I’m really interested what both of your blood types are. I’ve noticed with my body that I don’t do well with beans, sudo grains, lentils and other legumes, heirloom grains nor high starch foods like potatoes, jicama, tapioca flour, rice, and such, I eat in moderation. I’m a O+ RH- factor blood type. I do well on a high plant and fruit diet, limited nuts and seeds that I soak, blend and ferment, and small amounts of clean animal proteins like rare beef liver, seafood, salmon, Wild game, eggs, sardines. I Rarely consume dairy but when I do it’s Raw goats milk and yogurt or hard cheeses made from cows in Italy or Europe. I also include nutritional yeast, kimchi, and kombutcha in my diet. My husband seems to do fine eating beans, grains, legumes and starchy foods tho and he’s a blood type A

Hi! Love everything you guys put out there. Thank you for so much guidance!! 💗 My question is in regards to “eating enough”. I am trying to lose a few inches but want to be sure I’m eating enough. Did either of you track your food when you first started eating vegan to be sure you were getting enough of each macronutrient & calories? If so, which app do you recommend? I’ve been using My Fitness Pal on & off thru the years but maybe that’s not the best choice for this way of eating. I’m just not sure I’m getting enough of what I need overall but don’t want to overeat on calories either. Thank you in advance for your insight☺️
@EatMoveRest2 жыл бұрын
Hey Jennifer, yes, we used Cronometer! It’s a great way to check in and make sure you’re getting not just the calories you need, but the vitamins, minerals and micronutrients you need! It really helps to do periodically!

Going vegan helped me soooo much with my digestion or lack there of lol, I felt good, the planning was a tad bit tiring coz I ate the same meal preps because I didn't have the knowledge. I discovered you guys today, very encouraging and I'm looking forward to going plant based again, instant subscriber❤️❤️

Hi guys!! How do I find out how many calories I need to consume transitioning to a plant based diet? I want to lose 60lbs as well. Im 6ft tall and 255lbs. Help!! 😊
@EatMoveRest6 жыл бұрын
We recommend using the Cronometer.com website and phone app! It’s a great way to track calories and fitness to get an idea of how much you’re burning and taking in, and shows you exactly what nutrients you’re getting and may be missing! Chances are though, if you’re eating a high carb, low-fat, whole food, plant-based diet, you’ll lose weight without having to give it too much thought!
@alexandrawalters89536 жыл бұрын
Hi Dori, I’m 5’11”, and started out over 215. I transitioned gradually, starting with eliminating refined sugars and grains; then eliminated dairy, and then finally all the rest of any animal-sourced foods. I didn’t count calories, just focused on getting good nutrition, and over six months lost 45 lbs. I’ve been totally plant-based for over two months now, and I feel so much better! Wishing you a successful transition 😁

I've been transiting to vegetarianism and at the beginning it was difficult because I had no idea what to cook and I started to stress a lot! I thought "If I can't find a meal to cook for today, then how is going to be for the next weeks or months?". Furthermore, some of my meals were not tasty and that made me sad and unmotivated. But I had a goal and I didn't give up. Nowadays i am more relax and I always have ideas about what to cook for every week. We all just need time to adapt at any kind of change in our lives.
