I love this channel so much! I have been vegetarian all my life but I recently started investigating the dairy and egg industry......I was horrified. Since then I have tried to eat a whole food plant based diet, however I have fallen off the vegan band-wagon every now and again, but I am determined to get it right and stick with it. I live in South Africa where meat and dairy are everywhere and being a vegan is unfortunately extremely rare. Although there are a few vegan restaurants in my area, I struggle when going out with non-vegan friends. I love your idea about just asking the chef to switch up a menu item to fit in with the lifestyle. Ive done this a few times now and they are always accommodating. I find this channel extremely inspiring! In fact, after watching this video I feel like I have a new energy to be more creative with food and be even more dedicated to a whole food plant based lifestyle. So thank you!! It is so comforting to know there are people like you that can provide so much positivity and inspiration!

Hi Catherine! First, thank you SO MUCH for your kind words and support of our channel!💚 That's so cool that you live in South Africa, we'd love to visit someday! It sounds like you're totally on the right track...don't let perfection be the enemy of progress! Keep at it! You're aware and you're mindful of what's going on in the world with animal agriculture and you can never "un-know" something once you know the truth! Keep finding ways to stay inspired, do your best, and forget the rest! You rock! Let us know if there are any specific topics or recipes you'd like to see us cover!🙌🏻🌿

Lentil and bean soups and lentil or brown rice pasta with real tomatoes sauteed into a sauce have been my gateway drugs. My first few weeks I ate a lot of pasta lol I am still transitioning and I have met my goal of cold turkey no dairy or eggs, breakfast n lunches n snacks being plant based and have gone 7 weeks straight since starting. I didn't cheat because I had dinner to "look forward to." At first all my dinners were normal but with more veggies added. Now I have a lot more dinners vegan than with meat and my taste buds are changing. Only some chicken dishes n lamb tempts me now, not the rest. I came from a "healthy and clean" but meat heavy diet. Ugh Paleo 😢 yeah better than my SAD diet from 5 yrs ago and I was slim for years effortlessly but soooo many hormone issues. My obgyn told me to cut red meat and then white meat altogether. I ignored her and then had the worst endo episode ever (I had overdosed on dairy that month from an ice cream and cereal w milk pms craving 😑) Too soon to tell but I am in less body pain, calmer mood and much less PMS from those hormone issues. N apparently I used to be bloated cuz now my stomach is so flat n i dnt wrk out. But I was already used to fiber so watch out ppl lol.

I am 100% Vegan and have been for quite some time. I am struggling to attain the 100% plant based eating lifestyle. I am also wondering how you get your smoothies soo SMOOTH, mine are always have some pieces that don't blend. I usually use, kale, bananas, strawberries and hemp seeds. I also add spurilina and sometimes moringa powder. Any suggestions would be awesome. Thanks for the videos, I really enjoy watching and learning new recipes.

Jenn Blair thanks girl! I’m glad you’re enjoying our vids! Advice for being plant-based would be to keep processed packaged foods out of the house completely to avoid temptation. Find great recipe resources like ForksOverKnives.com and as for smoothies, a high-speed blender like a Vitamix will give you the best blend. I used to use a Ninja but it paled in comparison!

I'm glad this channel exists, and I wish you success. A minor constructive critique, said with love, is that we often struggle to reach people who can't afford to purchase a large quantity of fruit. There are some obstacles to people of limited resources.

True! Where there’s a will there’s a way, but more importantly, there are many different variations of living a plant-based lifestyle, like buying grains, beans, and legumes in bulk! It's not the "how", but the "why". If I already eat whole foods, including animal foods and l'm healthy and satisfied, why should I just eliminate the animal foods?
@EatMoveRest5 жыл бұрын
Animal products contain zero fiber and plant foods contain tons. Animal foods contain dietary cholesterol and plants contain none-two reasons why we choose to only eat plants. On top of that, most animal products contain GMOs from the feed they eat, as well as antibiotics to keep them from getting sick, antidepressants because they are depressed being crammed into feedlots and factories, pesticides, and other harmful chemicals. It’s just not worth the drawbacks to your health, the animals, or the environment. The human body CAN survive and handle a wide variety of foods, but that doesn’t mean it can THRIVE on all of them. A great documentary you might find interesting is What The Health! Let us know what ya think! Hope this helps you to see our point of view!
@swissladydriver89805 жыл бұрын
@@EatMoveRest I'm talking about those of us who don't have a need for a lot of fiber or any fiber at all and who do not eat factory farmed foods and whose cholesterol doesn't increase when consuming foods that contain cholesterol. My Health is excellent at nearly age 50 ,and 90% of what I eat is local Swiss meats, cheeses, fruits, vegetables and fish. There are no feedlots here.The rest would be high Quality items from Spain, Italy and Portugal. Do you guys have some sort of special health issues where you feel you might need to avoid cholesterol?
@EatMoveRest5 жыл бұрын
The bottom line is that if we can not only survive, but Thrive without having to harm another living being, then why not? We don’t miss meat, dairy, or eggs, in fact, we find that we eat more variety without them, and feel better knowing that we aren’t consuming animals that had to die for us to live. To us it feels like a no brainer. So, yes, we feel better physically, but also consciously. There really is no such thing as a humanely slaughtered animal. We got in for better health, and found ourselves caring more and more about the ethical and environmental side of things, as well!💚 What is it about meat, dairy, and eggs that you find you can’t live without, if you don’t mind us asking?
@swissladydriver89805 жыл бұрын
@@EatMoveRest OK. If one is coming from the point of view that killing animals to eat them is immoral or unethical, then I can see why you don't eat them. I eat meat (pork preferred), organs (calve's liver especially), fish, shellfish, eggs, butter and cheese (from raw milk) because I find that they are positively delicious, nutritious perfect foods that give me what I need to thrive physically and mentally. These Foods also add incredible taste and variety to the dishes I cook. There is no way that I am going to live in Switzerland and forego the hundreds of types of cheeses here. No way, no how. There is a cheese for every occasion. www.cheesesfromswitzerland.com/switzerland/switzerland-a-cheese-country.html

I don't want to lose a lot of weight, I love to have a Kim Kardashian butt. How is that possible eating raw vegan?
@EatMoveRest7 жыл бұрын
It's all about calories! You will have to be eating a higher volume when you eat raw, because fruits and veggies are generally lower in calories than processed and cooked foods are. Fruits are highest in calories, then veggies. Also be sure to incorporate healthy fats like nuts seeds and avocado!
