Noticed that right away. Right after you say the model of the car, an omen of bad luck says, "meh, nothing to see here then" and leaves without crossing your path. 0:06 Can only possibly be a good omen. I had one for several years and it was my favorite car I have ever owned (not the fastest). I had upper pulley, tune and on worn drag radials went 11.70. On new ones I could have went some 11.5's as I had to still ease it out of the hole. The only issue I had when I sold it at 105k miles, were all the airmatic struts, which I replaced myself ($350 each). I just didn't want to start having to fix things that would start to add up with the Mercedes tax! Good luck and great car!

We owned a w211 e550 and it was absolutely amazing. Beware of the SRS errors on this model however. Usually it has everything to do with the clock spring on the steering wheel. Every time we turned the heated steering wheel on the SRS light would activate. Picking up a Icarsoft scan tool is a must when owning an older merc like this. Issues are very minimal but knowing what is wrong usually costs a fortune. Buy a scan tool now before you need it.
@BeesonsCars5 жыл бұрын
Matt Wright totally agree on the scanner. My family is full of MBs (I have a W221, fam has W211 and W205 at the house) and the iCarsoft scanner has been a life saver. I was able to diagnose which air strut was leaking on my S550 and find out what was causing the check engine light on the E350. (Stuck open thermostat). The $150 you spend on the scanner is cheaper than one diagnostic session at the dealer.

Best 7 things you can do with this car are 1: fit a larger inter cooler for the supercharger, 2: Split the cooling system, 3: Upgrade the intercooler pump, 4: Fit a 77mm clutched pulley, 5: Fit 550cc injectors, 6: Get a tune (Eurocharged, VRP, German Muscle etc etc), 7: 1 step colder plugs. That will give you the best price to performance ratio - assuming you do the work yourself you'd be into it for about $2,000 to $2,500. I went a little further with short headers and a 92mm throttle body but really the cost of those and having them fitted was not worth the gain. Oh and get the supercharger serviced as well. Great fucking car.

I like your videos very much and like this car too i want to tell you something. This car is the most common sport sedan in my country you know why? because its the easiest car to tune you only need 600-700$ and you have 600+hp and 800-1000nm. you only need to change kompressor pulleys upper pulley which is small you need smoller one and belower( i dont know if i say it correctly i wanted to say opposite of upper :D ) you need bigger pulley than stock and plus ECU Tune and this is it you have 600hp or more and 800-1000 nm and this car has beast transmision its not so fast but it can handle 700hp so you dont need to tune it.The only thing you need to tune after this is intercooler they add 2 little intercoolers or 1 normal intercooler and this is finish. its the easiest car to tune but problem of e55 is its SBC. Upper small pulley needs to be 80millimeters but i dont know the size of (opposite of upper) pulley so in the end what you need: 1)2 pulleys-go to the worker who works on alumin and he will do it 2) you need to add 2 small intercoolers or 1 normal intercooler 3) you need ECU and this is it
@EatSleepDrive5 жыл бұрын

Coil packs or ABC problems? The CL600 is one of my favorite cars and they’re relentlessly fast. With a tune they’ll smoke a CL65.
@mikewilliams49475 жыл бұрын
Oh man. This could be a long reply. I bought the car with 100K miles on it. Not a garage queen but clean enough. Decent service history until the last two years. Mistake. The butcher who worked on it during that time was a real piece of work. I bought the car for $7800. Put at least another 8K+ in it and then I stopped counting. All the accumulators, flex disks, trans mount, both coils (Clark at V12icpack.com), VT (also Clark), trunk hinge, SAM, rear window regulators, turbo intercooler pump (PITA or dealer to refill fluid).... Thats the stuff I remember. Now it blew out two (of 23) hydraulic hoses so far. The fluid is $23-32 a quart and a tow truck. I'm debating selling the car. If someone gives me 10K it's gone. If not I'm going to change the rest of the rear ABC lines rearward. That requires lowering the rear subframe. PITA. Yes the car is relentlessly fast. Rides and handles like nothing I have ever driven. Thats why I keep pouring money into it.But man I'll have almost as much as buying a higher mile much newer drop top V8 M3 The car also looks stunning in person. Hard not to look at it all the time. It's all black. I recommend anyone considering this car to get the absolute most beautiful one you can find because a basket case will cost you more.@@BeesonsCars

Mike Williams I was debating on getting a 2008 CL600 a year or so ago. I saw a really nice all black one with the AMG exterior and Designo interior but I just couldn’t convince myself it would be reliable enough to spend like $30k on it. I ended up getting an 07 S550 but really do wish I had more power. I came from a 2010 Camaro SS 6 Speed and loved that harsh shove into the seat. But I was worried about the fact of using the CL as a daily. My current S is expensive enough to daily as it is. Eventually I will probably buy a nice C215 or C216 CL600 and pray to god it’s not gonna eat me alive. They’re one of my dream cars and they don’t make them like they used to. The V12 engine in them is a masterpiece (albeit with common coil pack problems.) I’m not a huge DIYer (I’ve done lots of small things, but I don’t have the tools or equipment to do everything) so it’s a harsh proposition. Luckily my family is really mechanically inclined and have all the tools to do most things. I have to change the front left torque Strut arm on my W221 because the ball joint has “disintegrated” inside it causing a vibration and squeak. Also need a new wheel bearing and probably a drivers side air strut. But it’s been one thing at a time getting it back to tip top shape.

Read about the class action lawsuits against Mercedes over the Fuel sender units on W211 E series cars. The first one failed and leaked gasoline into the rear passenger seat, destroying it and the underlying foam. The gas smell took years to get rid of completely. Mercedes still hasn't issued a recall. Now my second unit broke after 5 years and this was a $2600 fix at an independent Mercedes specialist. Forget the Stealership to repair this. Mercedes are beautiful, but horribly unreliable money pits.

You totally redeemed yourself after you sold the Bimmer. Through my experience Mercedes has been a more solid and reliable car than BMW. Yes little things will break here and there and you can fix it yourself but the engine is solid. Mercedes were actually the first to create a turbo diesel engine so they are the leader in turbocharge. For a car that has almost 200k miles and can still drives and performs like that is awesome! I love this car and can't wait to see more of it.

The M113K engine is bulletproof. My family has had tons of old mercs through the years and they’re good cars, we’ve only had two BMWs and they were good too. My grandma currently has an E46 323Ci and it’s been a good car despite having 180k miles now. But the interior and exterior hasn’t held up as well as MBs of similar vintage. The plastics on the bimmer are brittle.

Tyler Beeson I agree on the m113K engine it’s one of Benz best , I owned a 14 E63s w212 awd, I had it for 2 years and was very disappointed in the build quality , I had 2 BMW 535s, a 17 330 sport wagon , and a 2015 M6 GC, I feel the beemers are built more solid , no creeks or noises ,the plastics on the W212 were very hard and plasticky and it made the car a rattle box , I was active on the MB forums and they all said the same

Antimatter the W212 is my least favorite modern Benz. My family has test driven a few of them and they all felt cheap. We had the opportunity to buy a 2016 E350 4Matic left over stock in January 2017 for like $20k under sticker and we still didn’t take it. Just didn’t feel like a “Benz.” I have a 2007 S550 which despite its age still feels super luxurious and drives great. Much nicer interior than the 212. My family just got a W205 C300 loaded out and it’s so much nicer inside than the W212 it’s insane. All the materials and features feel more like an S class than a C. The new E class has gotten that luxury and quality feel back. The F10 gen 5 series annihilates the W212.

I got an 08 e350 in May of last year, 42k, $10,900. I've had to do quite a bit of work on it for a $42k car, but all that being said, still going to stay below $3k on work in a year and a half, which isnt terrible considering 1k was tires and oil. Put 20k on it, I love it man. How has yours treated you?

That's hit or miss I've bought plenty of modded cars. A better comment would be to not buy a modded car if the owner or dealer doesn't have any paperwork on said modded car like Dyno sheets oil chances air furl ratios etc etc.
@will215 жыл бұрын
@@comptonla3791 now I think of it, buying modded car from 23yo and under person significantly increases the chances of poor maintenance and bagging of said car... That's the mistake on the last one for me.
