They are basically my role models for a succesful marriage and long-term relationship. Been together with my love for close to six years now! (He is 26 and I am turning 25 late this year) in my country my relationship is pretty unusual. "Kids" our age usually don't have long lasting relationships in my country.. I hope we will always have so much love and joy Simon and Martina share everyday. And we have a similar situation, with me having extreme chronic pains and him taking care of me. Simon and Martina are what a awesome marriage is with endless love and respect... I'm also a ducky! :)

When I lived in Japan, I literally lived above a bakery. Directly next door was an ice-cream shop. Every morning the smell would overwhelm my apartment forcing me to purchase whatever the hell they were baking. My first morning in Japan I had a curry bun. I was shocked. It was my first time eating a savory pastry. It was delicious. I miss my old place and that bakery....

When I was a kid in Japan, my family was on a super tight budget (my father was a PhD student in Kyoto University). We used to walk to a nearby bakery and they would give us a bag of plain pan for free, every day :) I remember the amazing smell coming out from the bakery, I always wanted to try all the different things in there but we never could afford it. A few years later, I went to Tokyo for an internship and I got to try baked goods in many bakeries! They were all amazing, indeed.

The crows part made me chuckle. KAAWW! Actually, fun fact, my teacher told me once why the japanese crows are way bigger and jacked up. It's because they are some species of mountain crows that came down to the cities, not the same ones that we have in Europe. They are also super smart.

I really gotta try curry buns next time I go to Japan, they look soooo good! I went to a bakery in a back ally on the way to Himeji castle from the train station, and it was such a warm cozy feeling when I walked in and they had so many cool things. My favorite was a white chocolate matcha bagel. My friend got a huge burger. I have never had food with such a "grandma's kitchen" feel in Japan before. Absolutely wonderful.

Since the beginning of my little baker life I have been in love with the delight that is meringue. Fluffy clouds that are crunchy and delicate on the outside but soft, airy, and sticky on the inside and can be put with any variety of things. So much yummy fruit, with whipped cream or custard on top, in the middle, pair it with ice cream or hot chocolate. That is how I will get fat in my later years, just constantly eating this delicious concoction of egg whites and sugar.

I lived in Japan for a year with my mom and we both had a fair share of baked goods. My favorites have to be curry pan, mushi pan, melon pan, and I guess it's not "bread" but the sandwiches sliced into triangles (the best shape) that they sell alongside the pastries. The Katsu sandwiches are usually my favorite and I used to always get a pack of those, along with one other pastry as a dessert Honestly I love them all and I always look forward to visiting a local bakery whenever I visit Japan. Can attest: In Japan they make a mastery of the 'basic' stuff. The interesting novelties are delish, but the baguette and butter I had at Don Quixote and Pain au Chocolat at a regular hotel breakfast buffet were just beautiful and superstar quality. That custard bun at the bakery below Kyoto Station? Gave me an orgasm. No guilt either, even though I was not supposed to be eating dairy.

I thought I was the only one with a Japanese bakery appreciation/obsession! There are a lot of things I miss about Japan, but the thing I miss most is the bakeries in Japan. My host families knew that if they wanted to see my happy food dance, all they had to do was give me melonpan. Melonpan was my go to snack/breakfast/lunch/dinner. It's freaking amazing! But seriously, the whole experience of grabbing a tray and tongs and just piling up whatever looked cute or yummy (which is everything) is really fun. I wish we had something like that where I am in the States, but where I live a bakery means cupcakes, cakes, and cookies. Whereas in Japan, a bakery means pastries and breads. Which really surprised me. I didn't think bread in Japan was going to be that good, because when I think of bread, I think of wheat, and Japan grows a lot more rice than wheat. So, I didn't think there was going to be that much bread to begin with, but boy am I glad I was wrong!

I love baked goods!!!!! Crispy chocolate chip cookies have and always will be my favorite dessert!! Right next to malted chocolate milkshakes!!!! You guys are killing me with always having vids about food!!!! I would love to see other stuff that can be done in japan that doesn't involve eating. :P I get so freaking hungry and want to go stuff my face watching people make or eat food, even if its not something I want to eat!! Just seeing someone enjoying food makes me want to eat something!!!
