The Chevy Volt was a brilliant idea. It was just a little bit before it’s time. Shame they discontinued in like 2016 I think. I sold Chevys for a living at that time. They are not anything like the Cruze. (Although similar in size). Also, you could purchase one in the high $20’s., all the way up into the upper $30’s. (There was a government program at that time). The 1.4 liter was a generator that turned on automatically when the batteries depleted. I believe the fuel economy rating was in the equivalent of 95mpg. The Volt didn’t sell very well in the S.E., or heartland of the country., but sold quite well on the west coast. I remember them having a lot of pep, and being kind of fun to drive. I believe there is still a Volt owner group on the west coast that still exists today. ( they love their volts). Also real quick, the Chevy SS was nothing like the Malibu. (Although they have a similar look) the SS was manufactured in Australia. It was a rebadged Holden commodore. They had either a 6.0 V8 or a 6.2 V8, depending on what year. They imported the SS here and also sold a lot of them as police patrol vehicles. The car would get after it and to this day is somewhat of a collectors car. Just relaying what I remember about the two different cars. Thanks for your channel, great content.

Hey Alex . The small box with the alarm/ remote start system is what gets tapped into the obd to (talk ) to the computer to tell the Immobilizer door locks trunk pop etc. just have to disconnect that box and just as you disconnect anything follow where they tap in and just make sure the only tapped in and that they didn’t cut the cars side of the wire and looped through the alarm or the smaller model.. you can do this ! Not hard at all if anybody can to this you can 💯💯

I'd look into that PCV system on the volt, it may be integrated into the valve cover. I have never worked on one, but I have done several cruze's, which are the same body style. The diaphragm in those pcv systems rupture and cause it to run lean, hesitate, studder, and stall. You can smoke intake, and smoke will come out a hole in the valve cover. Can also spray brake clean into that hole and make it run rich. Two ways to prove its ruptured. From my experience on aftermarket alarms is they usually cut power to the starter in some form or fashion. Usually they do not interrupt PCM comms. I would scope the CAN lines at the PCM and make sure the can high and low square waves are present. Also load test all the PCM powers and grounds with a high beam halogen light bulb. Usually hybrids have some form of maintenance mode for like an oil change or testing where you want the engine to run constantly. With Toyota and Hyundai/Kia you have to do a bunch of actions like press the pedal and move the shifter but from some vehicles like from nissan or the one you have here, you just pop the hood. These cars can be simple at times you just need the correct info. Keep up the good work Alex.

Alex turn the ac on or hold your foot to the floor or just pop the hood . That will start the engine . These are known for the intake bolts backing out coming loose causing all types of rich and lean codes . Also the purge valve has been know for sticking open

Some engines with plastic valve covers leak vacuum from the PCV valve system built into the valve cover. However, I've seen some 4 cylinder engines running like crap as if it had a vacuum leak, and all that it was is the oil dipstick wasn't pushed all the way down! I can't remember which model GM or Ford but one had a vacuum leak at the front crank seal of all places and it made a noise!

My sister had a Chevy Sonic some crappy mechanic said he fixed it, I diagnosed the car having a vacuum leak not a mass air flow sensor. Replaced the valve cover problem solved. Valve cover was 120 dollars. mechanic charged her 600 and didn't fix it.

With the plum crazy charger, sometimes it's better to start from scratch. Un do all of the wiring harnesses and as you hook everything back up go through it then.

On the charger can you communicate with any module on it? Or only not the engine control module? If you can’t communicate with anything your going to have to start unplugging modules one at a time

@ 4:04... the chevy ss is a pontuac gto. V8 rwd. The malibu hasnt been rwd since the chevelle. Even the impala ss is still fwd. V8, but fwd.

Okay not meaning too sound like a jerk but if you have a test light, a dvom , a scan tool and some service information you certainly have everything you need to diagnose an ecm no communication. Trying known "good" modules one day is gonna cost you big after it corrupts others. Learn a better method. I can point you in the right direction but it's hard work and costs money too you and the customer

I🙏need any advice or oddball tips or tricks or whatever any infos learned I mean other than the obvious I suppose Anybody rebuilt a 2001 suburban 2500? Just bought it and getting down to short block to change rings and lifters and rod bearings plugs and wires cause it's at 160k Anybody know about this? No cam cause I don't have budget for that also...sad face
