Some but not all of us get that nasus feeling when the camera goes all over the place. I was so glad when I found that you set the camera on a stand as I threw up on the keyboard within seconds.. not fun. I do like you showing the how it works on both machines an especially with the balancer. I have the old coats machine and I won't try to venture how many tires have been changed by me or the previous owners but lots on both counts. Shop recently burned to the ground in a forest fire so no time to save any stuff that is so hard to replace. I wondered about the shroud until explained. The bead blaster I made years ago for doing semi tires or tires still on the rig as you mount air line to rim for airing tire and give a blast and walla boom its done without a removeall in the field if its pouring rain or just a million things here in alaska
@F.Krueger-cs4vk6 жыл бұрын
Excellent video, thank you for posting. It doesn't matter which side of the rim you put the cones on. A trick I can share with you. When you balance the wheel & the tyre casing has run out, up/down movement. Mark the postion of the tyre on the rim , deflate rotate the tyre 180 degrees. Balance the tyre again if the tyre still has run out, move tyre back or forwards 90 degrees. If the tyre still has the same problem, remove tyre from rim, turn around, repeat the above procedure till the tyre runs smooth on the rim. The 2nd trick I want to tell you, there are 4 quarters of the tyre called quadrants. Top section of tyre, bottom section of tyre , side of tyre closest to you & the opposite side furtherest away from you. You then balance the wheel , the machine says you need to attach 10 grams weight to either the inner or outer rim whichever side your doing. You attach the 10 gram weight on the rim & balance wheel again. The machine doesn't always come up with a zero/balanced reading. If the machine says you need to add 5 grams, turn the wheel to where your supposed to add the 5 grams, 12 o'clock position, top quadrant. Pay attention to the location of the 10 gram weight that you attached first. If the 10 gram weight is in bottom quadrant, remove the 10 gram weight you first attached , replace it with a 5 gram weight. If the 10 gram weight is in the side quadrant either closest to where your standing next the the balancer or the opposite side, the side quadrants, move the 10 gram weight up 1 inch from the original postion. If the 10 gram weight is in the top quadrant, add the 5 grams next to the 10 gram weight. Balance the tyre again should come up with a zero/ balanced reading for either the inner or outter rim you are balancing. The whole idea is you just want the weights in one position on the inner & outter rim, not having weights all over the rim looks bad. This only applies if you don't get a balanced reading the first time round. Thank you & good luck folks.

I just ordered one of these units, and it should be in any day now. Thanks for this review video. One thing I might add about lubrication for the bead. The corrosion that you had to grind off, on aluminum wheels, can be caused by soap. A protectant, like ArmorAll, can be used as a bead lube and it won't cause corrosion.

Got my machines the other week and couldn't get my tires balanced correctly (Lincoln Mark VIII and Grand Marquis). Found out that you don't want the spring and cone on the left but like you have it. Perhaps the spring tension or simply the cone bottoms out before wheel hits flange. I thought I had bent rims (steel rims) but putting the cone on the right side took care of problems. I know they don't recommend that but hey???

@Tomsfoolery.7 жыл бұрын
I did a set of 35's on 20" wheels without a problem. The specs say the maximum rim clamp is 21" and max tire diameter is 37" for the tire changer. The balancer is supposed to be good to a 44" tire with a max weight of 155lbs. So your 17" wheels and 37" tires shouldn't be an issue.
