E Bay sellers should UNITE. WHY do we have a company that you can NOT talk with? WHO is MAKING DECISION to stop your sale? Is it a real person or a computer? What if they hadn't corrected this, HOW would you try to APPEAL the decision when YOU do NOT know exactly what happened to shut you down?? It's a mess!!

eBay’s lack of straightforward communication and resources to deal with sellers is abysmal. I have worried for decades about this scenario you are going through. They need to be very direct. I believe most sellers are honest and want to fix or repair whatever concerns may be present. I am starting on whatnot on Sept 2 and starting on my path to diversify. With over 11,000 auctions on their platform, it is a daunting task to even start using a third party cross lister that doesn’t eat into the profit margins. Love your show and share your concerns.

As the platform holds all the power, an individual seller, regardless of size, is held voiceless in scenarios like this. It is past time for serious sellers to create a lobbying group to protect their interests. Without one the platform will continue to be able to ban and rarely if ever explain their motivation. Bad sellers should be banned or limited, the same should apply to bad buyers. I know many will disagree, right up until they are impacted. On ebay since 95.

I've been full time reseller since 98' stated on ebay Amazon and yahoo auctions at the time those were the big 3 (resellers these days take multiple platforms for granted) this (what Kevin is going or has gone through) with possible lifetime suspension makes my decision in 98' when I went full time to automatically diversify I was doing it before it was a thing (ahead of the times) as the best decision I made now 25 years later I'm also on etsy, postmark, mercari, bonanza, reverb, discogs, offer up, local sales on Craigslist and FB marketplace, also sell at flea markets and shows I've diversified 25 years that if this should ever happen on ebay or Amazon or any other platform it won't be significant because all your eggs are not in one basket I've told everyone that has wanted to start reselling that diversification should be written on a white board in all caps it should be the #1 thing you do in your online reselling business top of your business plan if you put to much into one basket your only setting yourself up for failure.be it now or 25 years from now. Because the fact is especially with ebay and Amazon there is no loyalty points when it comes to longevity as a reseller if your a liability to either one of these platforms they will suspended or freeze your account first then ask questions. This is really how its always been actually not so much on ebay but paypal for all the veterans or pioneers of reselling who did ebay prior to the pandemic only way to get paid back then was via PayPal if paypal thought there was funny business going on they wouid freeze your funds just like a bank would do I know alot of resellers that despised that but it was to protect paypal against any possible liability. Amazon is the worst they suspended you and give you one or 2 chances to write a POA and if they don't like it that's it your permantly suspended. Ebay, Amazon and paypal when a review or you violate a policy its suspended or freeze the account first then ask questions. In there eyes your guilty till you prove yourself innocent

Yep there has always been talk about unionizing but only issue is when you agree to sign up as a seller you agree to there TOS which states you as a seller can't unionize period sane thing is in Amazon's TOS.

I remember the backlash when Mercari made the mistake of banning Katt the Nurse Flipper and holding her funds. They figured out real quick how bad the PR was. In your case, I wouldn't call it public outcry, I'd call it public rage--that is what eBay would have on its hands if they banned you. Chris of Daily Refinement earned his ban fair amd square. The day they screw over the schoolteacher and his family is the day we collectively turn off our stores. I'd be so disgusted. Sorry this happened to you.

Man I’m glad you recovered your account, we are all in this and it could happen to ANY ONE !!! There are a lot of jealous people out there, people that hate seen other to succeed so I wander if one or a few viewers ( haters ) could report many times your account just because they can and wanting to do damage ??? Other youtubers had similar issues once in a while with people reporting their accounts with bogus claims

Your account was restricted because of one of these reasons spike in sales, multiple customer big priced items purchased, you cancelled multiple orders recently, or multiple claims filed recently against you. eBay has hit me with this 3 times in the last 3 years the longest eBay took to review was 3 weeks but you have to make sure you constantly call eBay to get updates because if not they will review your account slow and take for ever

Oh yes, it's happened to me on several different occasions as a reseller. When you do finally get someone on the phone they defend their wishy-washy "We're not gonna tell you, nanny nanny boo-boo" position because if you were told then you'd know what NOT to do. DUH. Isn't that the whole point? As someone else said, they don't want you to "game the system". How 'bout just letting us know what the heck brought about the chaos?

Now that your money has been released you should be able to call eBay and speak to a supervisor. Insist on a supervisor immediately. Many eBay reps are reluctant to get you a supervisor, but be firm. That is the only way to get resolution.

Kevin, I would be so screwed if Ebay did that to me. I am the unpaid full-time caregiver for my mom who has dementia. My ebay sales pay for a few extras but mostly our food and some bills. I just had the "periodic review" and my funds were put on hold. I called and no problem got a hold of someone right away. She reassured me its customary. She said it could take up to 6 days but may be resolved sooner. About 3 days my funds were released. I also did not get a follow up email. This had happened to me before, same thing, about a year ago. Same conclusion...

I had it happen about 15 months ago. My money was released in 2 days but I never got a message or info. After listening to you and thinking back, I think it's triggered by a combination. I remember that I had a couple returns, had a listing removed, and was having an increase in sales(went from 1k per month to about 4k. I know eBay reps have said a major increase in sales, listings, or large amounts of New items can trigger it. In my experience, when stuff happens in early morning hours, it's computer initiated and around noon is something reported by a company.

This is very concerning and alarming Kevin. It looks like you had a happy ending but it doesn't excuse the way this was handled and ebay needs to do better. The bigger question is how can we as sellers sleep at night when this is our livelihood and it can be taken away from us in a moments notice without any clear reason why or without really an opportunity to tell our side.

I haven’t had an eBay issue like you discussed. I know you are going to the Reseller Remix in October. I usually go, but have a commitment this year. Would have liked to meet you. Theresa Cox is one of the people that puts this event on and she knows a lot of people at eBay. There will also be an eBay rep at the event that is pretty high up. Talk with both and get their info for future reference.

This happened to me and the reason was the credit card I had on file was expired, even though they never charged anything to that card. I figured it out right away and corrected it. The hold was lifted the next morning, which was the second day of the hold. They had sent me the same 5 day review message.

Hey Kevin, we have noticed as well last time tried to call eBay on the Concierge direct line and it is not connecting anymore for us. We had called on the Concierge direct phoneline for years and get things resolved in a timely manner. We contacted eBay for business on our last issue on Facebook and the problem in less than a day. Ebay did the "review account" with my account twice last year. Ebay held my $$ for two large $$ sales until the items were delivered. One went through Canada delays which took 2 weeks. My opinion is it's a money grab to skim money on interest. Ebay created unnecessary bad will with sellers is the verdict.

Did this to use 2-3 months ago. My wife submitted the information over and over and over again and it would not remove the flag from out account. She called numerous times no help and then finally one day our entire store got dumped into ended items. We actually just quit listing on eBay for a solid month or so I was so frustrated was ready to quit. Just started back last week now trying to wake my store back up… We have had messages like that to submit our bank information so many times since starting a eBay makes you wonder if they even want sellers. It’s ridiculous honestly.

My wife and I have been on Etsy since 2016 and this same kind of thing recently happened to us. We had a large uptick in sales one month and we were put on a “payment account reserve” (up to 90 days or when orders are marked shipped), which meant because of irregular activity, uptick in sales, claims etc they would hold funds. We have always had highs and lows in sales through the years but have NEVER had any issues with claims. We tried several times to contact them (no phones on Etsy) through email and always got the same answer, “the money is yours”. It is ironic that a few months before, the main bank they deal with, Silicon bank went bankrupt. This happened to numerous shops on Etsy. We are a custom shop that makes handmade artwork with an 8 week lead time so imagine not getting paid for 90 days if you do not have a reserve of money. The reserve was removed within 45 days but it is total BS. I know it’s not eBay but we just started an eBay store recently and hope this kind of thing doesn’t happen with us. Love your videos btw 👍

That's the one reason why I have my payouts on daily so when eBay just randomly decides to review accounts or suspend them and hold your money. If you do get a permanent suspension, they hold it for like, 30 days after. Ebay's communication is terrible but I have heard of people who ramp up their selling on ebay then ebay puts their account on hold for a review.

Keven, Love all the content. I got a message today from ebay with the same issue. I always request ebay to call me and they do within minutes. It looks like when a buyer misuses the return reason as pics or description does not match item received. Ebay hold the funds only pertaining to the specific transaction pending resolutions. I've been reviewed twice and both times were high sales once on a weekend. They don't like to payout. They usually make you confirm your payout. I have 100% positive feedback too and no, then never send a conclusion letter.

I’m dealing with a similar issue that has been ongoing for 7 months now. I had my account restricted which i believe was due to my sales increasing quite a bit in a short amount of time. I received an email just asking to verify my identity so I sent everything in they asked for. Took a month and received and email stating they verified it and sorry for the inconvenience. Yet my account is still restricted I’ve spent over 60 hours on the phone trying to get this resolved with customer service and I get the same answer that it’s the back office in charge of these and they can’t do anything about it and I can’t contact that department directly. I try to escalate it and never get an email or anything to let me know what the issue is. I’m like you and am very careful to make sure everything I list is authentic. I am a big believer in doing everything possible to keep the customer happy. Doesn’t seem like eBay feels the same about it’s sellers which sucks because eBay is by far my favourite platform to sell on. I’m now sitting on a store that has over $50000 worth of inventory and unable to do anything. If nothing is resolved by the end of the year I’ll be leaving eBay as a buyer and seller forever.

Agree about eBay's non-communication UGH! We just listed a card game (Cards Against Humanity new in packaging) that eBay pulled & tagged us with it being counterfeit according to their "Counterfeit Policy" with no further explanation...which it it NOT. According to their policy you are not allowed to list counterfeit trading cards (Duh!) So they said we had to show proof of purchase (thankfully this was purchased from a thrift store where we had a receipt). We submitted the receipt several days ago & are STILL waiting for them to clear us of this issue & allow our listing. SOOOOOO Aggravating!! You are lucky your store is still up and running. In year 2009 my store was doing great and monthly I was making profit more than 3K but suddenly they shut my store down because I had sold some stuff from Ali Express which was not genuine (I did not know that), I tried to contact eBay so many times but same written reply, we cannot reinstate your account although I was doing the business for long time and my reviews were positive 100% before. I got band from ebay back in 2015. Main acct was 12yrs old but i started drop shipping and had 5 accts running. Didnt know rules of cancelling and defect of shipping. Since all stores/accts were linked in some way the main one was shut down which shut all down. I was banded but after 6 mos. I was allowed to sell 5 listings a month. And needed 25 feedback to get verified. Took 18 months to get back on ebay. I have 3 stores now all top rated main has 2600 listings. Vtg store has 1500 listing and card store has 200-300 listings. Forever banded wasnt my case just took a long time to get back on.

Calm down Kevin, it’s okay I promise. Lol. Here how I know. The same thing happen to me this year. I been gone from eBay for a few years. Had life happen and need to step away. Thank god I kept all my old inventory, to have something to start off with. So I got to listing got 500 items listed and 200 sold in like 2 months. Yeah I went a little crazy. Well first month was good. Got around 300 up and half way in the second month. I got the same email. I was so confused. So I waited the week and still getting sells, just not getting paid out. So I called, the gentleman told me to wait and see if it goes away. Well a week later I got a payment. So I’m like okay. But it was only for the one item I sold a week before. This continued till the end of the month. Then all of sudden I had a big deposit to my bank out. It was all the money pending in sales on eBay. Like I said it lasted a month and went away. I think you have to wait a certain amount of time or have a certain amount of completed sales go through before they take it off. It’s to reinsurance for the customer that they ain’t getting screwed. And to make sure your actually selling what you are listing. I sell like you everything anything I can make a profit on, lol.

Ebay decided to limit the dollar amount i ican have listed due to a few negative feedback .. not cool. they were unjustified feedback , i have been selling on ebay since it started and have had spotless record .. not cool Ebay , and there is no way to get ahold of a person to get help

I had it happen once but it was because I had a $8k sale. I had big sales prior to that but none more then $1k so they put on hold until it was delivered. It took about 8 days I think. Was annoying. Crazy thing was it happened again about 2 weeks later. Called up and talked to them and it was a glitch because of the previous hold. And there is no communication unless you annoy them. Also, they never told me the reason. They only reason I believe it was the $8k sale was the ebay reps I spoke to said that was most likely the reason.

That must have been hard to keep quite. Great video. What a wild ride eBay can be. I had my account go into review mode / funds held and just disappeared after 4 days. No communication. I was just told to wait, lol.

I had the same thing about 2 weeks ago. The week of the rt 11 yard crawl near Winchester. I was told it was an audit on that Thursday. The following Tuesday my payment was received. The next day I got an email from eBay apologizing for their technical difficulties and received some free instant transfers. Very weird.

Had the same thing happen to me a couple months ago including much of the same language as the message they sent you except they called it a routine maintenance review. Lasted about 3 days.

same thing happened and no communication but mine was over in 2 days after they said it would take 5. I started selling some different things and did real well so I think it was that. What was super scary is that I listed a new iphone 13 right before it happened. Then I took that item down. When it was over I just listed it again and it sold right away.

I had that happen awhile ago. Something to do with what account my payments were going to. I had to click on some link in my eBay account online couldn't do it in the eBay app. The kickers was that I had to figure it out myself.

I was told by the eBay rep that I spoke to is that they cant tell me anything because they dont want people learning how to circumvent the system. It was frustrating.

Same thing lately. Spent a good hour chatting with a rep and it came back to a massive spike in sales the past 90, some very very big sales, and 1 sale that we voided the first shipping label andnit took them 67 days to remove it and the item be marked delivered. Also have a neg from a fake purse scammer that couldn't scam me because ebay confirmed its legit purse so they left a neg, ebay wont remove that neg. Im currently off the hold and review is done, it actually went back to normal 2 days after chatting with ebay.

eBay changed their shipping rules for authentication for shoes. The took down three pairs for us as well. Put them back up and contacted ebay about it because we had no idea about it. No message, no nothing until we contacted them.

Same thing happened to me!!!!!! Never got told what happened. My sales did do up 1033%. That had to be it. 10 days later and multiple bank statements. It’s fine. Never got an “everything is fine” though

You need to change your payout from daily to weekly. I fix my store doing this. They put a hold for 6 days too.

Last week I had the dreaded Red Declaration that they were holding my payment to review my account. It literally only lasted one day for me, and my payment became available. I've only been selling for about 2 years. This was my second hold like this. First one lasted about 3 days. I have no clue.....

Yay Go Astros!! That's my team!! So sorry you're having to go through all this with Ebay! I still don't sell yet on Ebay. I tried to start up an account and they say I have a suspension. I don't know why because I have never bought anything or sold anything off of Ebay so I don't know why I have a suspension against me. I know I need to call and talk to someone but thats about as fun as a root canal seriously! Love your garage sale videos Kevin. I watch them ALL!!!

if you ever used a work wifi or school wifi or other public wifi , Bingo. Lived in the same apartment building as someone with account issues - same result. Guilt by association. Their system stupidly thinks you could be in collusion with the scammer, even though you don't even know the person.

I've heard of these types of situations happening to some of my friends on other platforms. They, to this day, are owed thousands and thousands of money. No one will reach out to them. I mean, why is the communication so horrible on all of these platforms?

Ours they did it also and they wouldn't say what they were looking for just put our funds on hold for the 5 days which didn't hurt much cause and we have set to move over to our business account on Tuesday and they put the hold on. Wed

I feel you have a legal right to know because that is how you make.your living. They should not be allowed to hold your money and compromise your business. How are they getting away with this ??

I’ve been having some issues in the Seller Hub, Listings, Ended or Unsold items. I can not delete, sell similar, NOTHING. We are a Not For Profit Resale eBay store, all the items Listed are donated items, & all of our proceeds goes to helping rescue animals in & around my state, so we don’t do returns because of that, unless of course someone insists or threatens. But, eBay has deleted items in my drafts when we haven’t moved them quick enough. I tried to explain that we are out on rescues but they just don’t seem to care. They have done some weird stuff in my account & will never give me a valid reason why.

Communication is something we would love to have in more companies than just eBay. It is becoming less and less of a service as companies become more automated. We freak out over what the system has found and it does it's job while we sweat to find a solution but it is a matter of the system resolving it through math, parameters involved, and time. We will find less human interaction as long as a company can save money through automation as sad as that is.. I remember talking to people about issues. That is in the past. Great content, keep selling strong!

This same thing happens on Etsy all the time. Shops are closed without any reason. Thankfully eBay kept your store open while they investigated.

I'm pretty sure people get swept up by algorithms and bot sweeps that wind up being arbitrary and random and there is very little if any human overlook a the beginning of the process. Getting help on ebay had been getting harder and harder for us. We had a bizarre situation happen twice and all the "help chat" would do was repeat our own settings back at us for 15 minutes straight without helping in anyway or acknowledging the problem we were having. We lost money, not a lot, in both situations.

Thank you so much for your videos I really learn so much!! My store is super slow! I have over 500 items listed and sell probably 5 things a week! I’ve had my eBay account since 1998. Just last week I got the same message. My account was on hold for a review. They held it for 7 days then released my funds. I was never given any resolution to my hold either.

Email the CEO Jamie You will get a response, squeaky wheel gets the oil. I’ve had the executive office contact a few times via phone to address issues that weren’t resolved in a timely manner. The executive team is not aware of a lot that effects sellers

Thankfully this has never happened to us. I think it's a good thing to take a step back and think about what you're going to do IF you stop selling on eBay. We are thankful we have Amazon to fall back on. It's scary to think about!

I have people cancel orders for multiple reasons like they didnt know this or that or their walmart card wont work on ebay etc. Yet they are the ones that clicked the buy it now buttons. 🤷🏼♂️ Or people just dont pay at all and they get auto cancelled. Im hoping these things dont get me flagged becuz all of these things are buyer faults.
