Be careful with the UPS sure post. From what I understand, the insurance only covers the item while UPS has it. Once it goes to USPS for the last mile, it is not covered. From their terms of service "Under no circumstances shall UPS be liable for any packages after tender to the USPS. "

Good morning, Ryan 🌞. I have no problem with the cancelation policy. Like you, I always cancel if the item has not been shipped.I never understood forcing a buyer to accept an item. Seems like a negative situation waiting to happen. Now, if I was an auto parts seller, I would not be happy.

UPS Ground: no actual UPS Store in my town, just a drop off point, so there’d be a time delay until the UPS driver stops at the franchise storefront and scans the package, plus the 25 minute drive for me to take the package to my town. Not a good deal in my case.

@@GalaxyCDSRocks Oh man, yeah sometimes its a day to day grind. We have 3 dogs, 1 of them passed away from cancer at a pretty young age. So that is the major thing along with a few smaller things. He was the most lively of the bunch too, just kind of hit out of nowhere.

I sell some handmade-by-me items on Etsy and the new listing form is worded a little funny. The first time I listed one of my handknit hats, I had to read the options a few times to understand what they were asking. The first set of options seems to ask about to what degree this item was handmade (ie, from scratch, from purchased materials, etc.) and includes some fine print examples of each. But if you're a little OCD and overthink everything, like me, it's hard to reconcile the examples they provide with their options. For example, an example of something 'made from scratch' vs. 'made from purchased materials' is pottery, but I assume most people buy the clay they use in pottery. But I digress.

Good morning. On the car parts returns, I wonder what the return policy is on Amazon. Everyone hates hearing it, but on new items, it would seem that eBay is moving in that direction to mirror their policies.

I just had to cancel an eBay order and there was no relist it option. Is this part of the change?

It's supposed to still be there but I too have noticed that for some reason it doesn't always give the option. Annoying for sure!

when I've purchased items on Amazon most say shipped immediately following the purchase. Then it sits there for several days on some items up to 1-2 weeks with no updates to tracking. This leads me to believe that Amazon has been doing the same type process with cancellations for a while now. You can't cancel some thing that's marked shipped even if it's not really shipped yet on Amazon they must have a way to market shipped and know their tracking numbers might be able to assign tracking numbers ahead of time or maybe the tracking numbers change and they just input a tracking number and update it later when they do the real Shipping. Not saying I wanna do this but I think sellers on Amazon have found ways to manipulate the system.

There may be some automation there that immediately generates a label, then the item waits for a worker bee to grab the label and pull the item. Definitely off-putting as a buyer to see tracking with no updates

@@GalaxyCDSRocks and just like eBay is saying you can send a message and request the item to be canceled but the seller has the right to say no if they don't want to cancel the order even if it's not really shipped as long as it's marked shipped. Some will say yes some will say no. I just wanted to make that correction because I had said that you can't cancel the order on Amazon after it's marked shipped but you can still request it.

eBay Cancellation Policies: One aspect I've always found annoying is that when I accept an offer, eBay sends me a note heavily reminding me about my "Entering Into a Contract" and that I must ship out the item. But when a Buyer wants to Cancel the purchase, eBay wants us to accept a cancelation No Questions Asked (which I generally do), but it's the same contract and another example of eBay holding Sellers to a different Standard then Buyers. 😉

@@GalaxyCDSRocks Exactly. Was on the phone with an eBay rep this week and mentioned the way meant standard messages from eBay to Sellers come across as heavy handed and a bit threatening. Her answer was something like: Oh, those are generated by the system, not a person. I pointed out that someone (an actual person at eBay) programmed those messages to begin with or the system couldn’t send them. 😉

Free Car Part Returns Paid for by Sellers: Ouch! I do sometimes sell in the Auto Parts & Acc categories. This a big change with some serious consequences. 😉

Car Parts are like Clothing Sales: buyers are going to open the retail packages (often sealed), try to use/fit the parts and accessories, harvest parts, get them dirty/greasy and send them back, expecting full refunds, including shipping. I see a whole list of problems with this.

I cancel no problemo! I once ordered by mistake an item I had looked at for my own listing hahaha Thankfully the buyer cancelled it asap I'm happy for the buyer to have an option! I do print my labels quickly though within a few hours, so it would read as shipped. How often do you run your labels
