Turn on the display by holding power button for 2 seconds. Then press both the + and - button simultaneously. This will open to the settings menu. In the future it should open to the last setting you were working with. The numbers read P0 then 1,2,3, etc. The number 11-19 will read P1 then 1-9. There is only a P20 and a P21. Press the power button to advance through the numbers, the + and - to adjust the settings. Be careful, a lot of times when you depress the + and - key to go into the settings, it will raise or lower the setting it opens to by 1 increment. Just make sure to adjust it back. 01 LCD backlight brightness levels 1-3 02 Kilometers (1) or Miles (2) 03 Voltage setting for battery (24, 36, 48, 60v): under voltage is safe, over voltage bad. 04 Power saving mode turns off LCD after number of minutes. Set longer than traffic stops. 05 Number of PAS positions: 1-3 gears or 1-5 gears. These gears also affect throttle speed. 06 Wheel diameter: one of the only things measured in inches. 07 Number of speed magnets: Most 26” wheel conversion kits are 46 magnets. 08 Speed limit range: Why? So your PAS won’t kick on going down a 45 degree hill. 09 Zero Start: 1 Kicks on PAS when you start pedaling, 0 does not 10 Drive modes: Throttle, PAS, or Throttle and PAS. 11 Boost Sensitivity: Usually the higher the number, the more you pedal to kick PAS on 12 Boost start strength: Starts at gears 1-5 13 PAS magnet number: the little disk on the pedal, count the number of “dots” 14 Current limit value setting: 12A default with 1-20A range. 15 Undervoltage value: If Vs drop too low, batteries heat up, this number is cutoff. 16 ODO clear setting: just press + button for _____ seconds 17 Cruise control: 0 not enabled, 1 enabled, hold - key to turn on and off. 18 Display speed adjustment: adjust by % to fix speedometer when it is off 19 Gear enabled or disabled 20 Protocol numbers - Best to leave at 0, switches “interfaces” for different motor types.

This was very helpful. The S866 came with my 1500w brainpower controller. I used it to upgrade my razor E300 escooter. I connected it to a 6384 Brushless outrunner with hall sensors. It’s a Chain drive system. The controller runs it well. The gear ratio x number of magnets worked well to get my speedo correct. Only issue I have is it only works when the throttle is open. I installed the included wheel sensor to fix that. But it does not seem to send a reading to the display. If anyone knows a work around let me know. The wires seem correct. So I am stumped.

Hello thank you for the video, I also have a 500W controller with an S830 LCD display. I have a 36V motor. after wiring the various cables, I still have the message E07. And also when I suddenly accelerate the driven wheel vibrates and stops. when I gradually accelerate no noise. So how do you correct your flaws? Nb: my hall sensors, there are 5 wires, on the controller there are 6 wires. So I isolated the white wire.

Thank you brother... it's a nice video... I installed a 48v 500w hub motor set on my 28" city bike... I set the p07 setting to 0001, then the km timer stopped working... I did some research and it shows the number of magnets in the motor, if it is not entered correctly. I learned that the km and distance would not be correct... Then, in the technical specifications of the engine, the magnet size was written as 27x2.3/27x3, so I entered the value 81 for testing purposes... The km meter started to work, but I did not know if it showed the speed and distance correctly... Can you help me on this issue? What should be the p07 value for my engine?

excellent video, thanks so much for doing this! I wanted to convert my 500w, 36v hub kit from a hand throttle/no lcd, to one with an lcd and thumb throttle. I purchased the Brainpower motor controller with the S866 lcd and still trying to get that to work, even after going thru all the P settings. I get the E 07 code, read that you can disconnect the Hall connector, did that but still show the error code . the controller is rate to 350w but my motor is 500w, so wondering if that is the key issue I'm having? any thoughts would be appreciated.

The pedal assistance no longer works for me, but the throttle thumb handle still works. In the menu P10 I have set to 2 = mix, both pedal and throttle will work. I have also tried option 1 & 0 in P10, but I cannot get the pedal assistance to work anymore. Do I sometimes have to set that elsewhere? Incidentally, there is nowhere an option for default settings?

If the pas used to work but now doesn't, I would think the problem lies with the pas itself and is nothing to do with the lcd settings. Broken or dirty sensor/ magnet disc? Distance between the disc & sensor too big? Or maybe a bad connection?

The number of magnets are not important and only affect the calculated speed in the display so any number works but lower it if the speed displayed is too low or increase when the display shows too much

Some ebikes motor controllers have a hard-coded speed limit of 30kph (or other value) that cannot be changed *ever* no matter what you do, while with other controllers you can change parameters, unplug a special controller wire, or use various key and throttle/brake combinations to bypass a soft-coded speed limit. This can be due to a country's e-bike speed limit laws and/or manufacturer preference.

they are fine. I went through the settings again and found setting, p20 value 0 to be a "settings reset" and value 1 to be Normal operation... I then found the connection fault gone for 0 and 1 but not 2 or 3 so 2 and 3 might be a different configuration... Had to plug in all my Values... the setting for P8 is a Guess the Default Value is 80 Magnet pieces... still did not figure out my accentual settings with out taking the Motor apart and counting the Rotor magnets and my back hub size is a tape measure guess is 27' but it seems to be working now, and the throttle seems to work too now.... go figure

I have one of these LCD displays, if I press the minus button for a few seconds the motor switches on and runs at a constant speed but the throttle only works backwards and another long press or brake stops the motor, other than that the throttle does not work at all.

It only affects the calculated speed in the display so you need a GPS or other bike computer to compare when the speed is accurate. Usually its around 15, 16 or 17

As far as I know, kt sensors will only work with a kt controller. Any non-kt sensor should work. Hope this helps.

However, you can use a down-converter circuit (about US$10-US$30 on ebay), that converts a higher voltage to a lower voltage. For example, a circuit that converts the 36VDC on your bike's battery to 12VDC at up to 10Amps. www.ebay.com/itm/Converter-Voltage-Reducer-Regulator-36V-Step-Down-to-12V-10A-120W-Waterproof-New/352981152967 I have no financial or personal interest in the seller. I have not used this specific converter so have no meaningful opinion about it. It is for example only. This one is about 3"x3"x1.3" I used a converter like this to power a nice looking 12VDC motorcycle LED light. It looked *much* more elegant and provided a LOT more brightness and both near and far lighting than any "36V" e-bike headlight I could find. You may even find a converter that fits inside your frame. Depending on the light, you will probably either have to get a separate "horn" or keep the old light/horn combination and just add the 12V light. You could use a 36VDC relay to switch on the motorcycle light with its 12V supply activated by the 36V bike light's switch/wire. Of course, you have to make sure all your wiring and the relay can handle the power of the 12V light, and be aware that the much higher power 12V light will likely take more power from your battery than the small low-power 36VDC bike headlight that probably came with the ebike, and the motorcycle light will more quickly deplete your battery.

Can anybody tell me where the other two wires the red and white go to is it small connector with a red and white and I can't figure out where they go to please help.

Hi friend do you know how I can fix Error 10? The bike works, i go 20km/h and then release throttle, and once bike is stopped, error 10 is on and i cant use the throttle anymore?! :D

Difficult, sometimes set P20 to zero seems to work or if anything fails you need PAS sensor instead of throttle

Set Parameter P03 to a lower voltage and you can choose from 24, 36, 48 and 60V. Also check if P15 is not too low for your battery because this is the undervoltage setting meaning it protects your battery from draining too low causing damage and reduces the number of times you can recharge

Red: Positive power Black: Negative power, ground Yellow: Power battery level Blue: Signal sending Green: Signal receiving Brown-light: Positive power , same voltage as battery White-light: Negative power

What means P09? P09: zero start, non-zero start setting, 0: zero start; 1: non-zero start; I don`t understand that 😢

When you power on the assist level will be set to 1 if you want that or start with zero and you have to press the + button first after powering on
