FIRST OFF; YOUR REVIEWS ARE PART OF THE REASON MY LECTRIC XP TRIKE ARRIVED YESTERDAY. CUT THE CHASE! AS SCOOTER RIDER FROM 12-72, THEN VERTIGO. LOTS OF SENIORS WE GOT THIS. ALL REVIEWS, INCLUDING YOURS INDICATE THIS IS A SUPERIOR CHOICE. AS I CAN NOT GIT THE DAMN SMILE OFF MY FACE. UNBOXED, CLEANED BRAKE DISCS AND ABOUT FOUR HOURS LATER IT HAS 8 MILES ON IT. IT TOOK SO LONG BECAUSE LOTS OF OTHER SENIORS STOPPED ME AND ASKED. ALL THOUGHT IT 'CUTE'. THIS IS ONE OF THE MOST IMPORTANT PURCHASES OF MY LIFE. AND I HAD A 'BANDIT CAR'. AND TONS OF HEMI'S THAT I RACED. THIS IS THE SHIZNITS!! THANK Y9U AGIN FOR THE GREAT REVIEWS AND INFORMATION. WHY DON'T YOU DO VIDEO FOR THE XP ON THE ACCESSORIES TO GIT FOR IT, HELMETS, PHONE HOLDERS, MIRRORS THAT ARE LONG ENUF TO SEE BEHIND; MOST JUST LET YOU KNOW YOU NEED A DEODORANT. OH YES, THE STOCK SEAT IS GREAT FOR MASOCHIST. WHEN YOU REVEALED THE PRICE; I GOT IN CAR AND WENT TO BACK TO GIT MONEY AND OREDERED IT. IF I HAD ONLY SEEN THE RAD OR BASICALLY ALL THE OTHER MORE EXPENSIVE TRIKES, I STILL WOULD NOT HAVE THIS BIG SMILE ON FACE. WEIGHT COMPARISON IS MEANINGLESS. NO ONE OVER 60 WANTS TO LIFT EVEN THE BATTERIES OUT TO CHARGE IN HOUSE. GETTING A 8X4 TRAILER WITH RAMP, FOR MY TRIKE AN ONE MORE, NOT FOLED UP.😆😆😆😆😆

I'm not that old (in my 40s) but became sick many years ago at only 21 or 22 years old. Since then, my primary illness has led to other conditions, and now I find it hard to get around. I'm one of those people who use a riding shopping cart, because I can't walk and be on my feet for more than a few minutes. In my teens and 20s I was known to go months without driving my car because I preferred to walk or ride my bike. Now I just stay home and feel isolated because I can no longer do the things I used to be able to do. When I discovered e-trikes, I knew this was the solution. I could pedal if I was up to it, but switch to electric if I need a rest. I can get out of my house, enjoy my neighborhood and even go on short shopping trips like I used to. I'm getting the Lectric with the cargo package and support seat, as one of the main purposes is so I can take trips to the store. So the baskets are a must. Being only 4'10" and wondering how these trikes would work for me, I appreciate you telling and demonstrating the heights these trikes work for and seat placements.

@@MHH3180I really appreciate your comment. It's not only makes the Lectric trike look like a good option but also shows you care more about people with specific mobility issues getting the best trike for their needs than only promoting the brands you sell. I wish you much success with your shop.

You are going to like your trike, It should be a little easier for you too because you can have the seat a little lower. I'm 6 ft. so have my seat up there. That raises the center of gravity. Every inch lower makes that gravity thing better. Good luck on your new trike, I'm sure you are going to enjoy it a lot. I sure like my trike, been riding for 5 weeks now. I'm really glad I went with the XP too. I have family members that have the Rad, We don't compare. I just smile a lot.

I considered both of them. Opted for the Lectric XP Trike because the footprint is more compact for storing in the shed. The other thing that sold me was the rear hub motor. I had ridden an ebike with a motor on the front and I didn't like the feel. Still learning with my XP Trike, and it does take some getting used to the feel vs. a two-wheeler, but I'm happy with my choice.

I've had my XP for about 6 weeks now. It was a bit intimidating at first, but I am totally comfortable on it now. Cornering takes a little getting used to. But, you can do it. I''m 82 years old and I weight 235 lbs. So, I don't get 14 mph out of it. I usually get 11 to 12, that is fast enough. My little town is almost all gravel streets, kind of ruff. I would like to see the bigger tires, maybe that would soften it a little. But I really like my bike. I use the car for grocery shopping, but that is a 25 mile one way trip. The longest trip I've taken my bike on is to my fishing hole. about 7 miles. Great ride early in the morning.

Purchased the Lectric and had ridden the other trike manufacturers and found due to the rear wheel motor the tire did not spin on gravel with the Lectric but did a great deal on the competitiors. I also found the differential helped a great deal on the the turns. The Lectric trike take off was gradual and because my wife has a balancing issue we fiound the Lectric overall was the best. Also you must adjust your balance if you are riding on a crowned road (designed this way so flooding is not as big an issue during rain storms. I own both a Lectric 3.0 and a trike and we found Lectric supports their customers after the purchase has been completed.

Everyone should know. I bought 2 lectric trikes for me and my wife last July. One of the trikes came with a bent wheel on the back, and the other one had two flat tires. Lectric ebikes sent us a new wheel but I bought new tubes for the tires. Now both bikes have bad rear axle bearings and the bikes are not usable. We have put 117 miles on one trike and 104 miles on the other all neighborhood riding. I sent video of the bearing movement, and noise. they told me I had to pack up the bike in original packing and ship it back 1000 miles just to get it fixed or replaced. I asked for a shop service manual but they refused. These bikes are cheaply made and service is poor. So much for savings.

Great video guys! My wife and I just purchased two Lectric XPs yesterday. They should arrive in August. Made up our minds before we saw this video. Sorry, would have used your link. By the features offered with the XPs, you can tell that the Lectric understands the market well for who might buy these. Over a couple of years, they listened to feedback for design ideas, kept safety in mind, and have excellent engineers. I mean, a rear drive with a differential axle, wow! We are both into nature/wildlife photography. Carrying our heavy camera equipment limits how far we can walk down trails. The trikes will not only be our packhorses but add a lot of fun and add miles to our outings. Can’t wait until they arrive!

Great review - very detailed. While I'm capable of riding a two-wheeled bike, I'm nervous about falls after breaking an ankle by just stepping wrong, so I knew I wanted a trike. Slow speed works great for my purposes. I chose the Lectric: lighter weight, narrower footprint, foldability for fitting in my car, hydraulic brakes, lights for safety, significantly lower price and free cargo package. I liked the security feature of the battery lock and the reverse feature on the Rad, but even at the same price I would have chosen the Lectric due to the other features.

I just got the XP trike as your weight is over the rear wheels. I see trouble with the front wheel power, the head stock is not vertical so when you turn the front wheel is pulls on that. I like that the xp has slime in the wheels when shipped so has reasonable puncture protection.

Trikes are ideal Winter commuters and cargo bikes. I have a recumbent e-trike but an upright is still more comfortable as a commuter. Quality wise, I would put The Buzz between The Lectric and The Rad. It is less than The Rad and just a little more than The Lectric. The Buzz will out climb both with its torque sensing mid-drive and has a a better front basket than The Lectric. It's rear basket is handier, but admittedly nowhere near as heavy-duty. All three have batteries that are too small. The Rad will ride better with steel tubing and the fact that their tubing is round. The fact that the geometry is more relaxed helps too. Ot should be slightly more stable than either alternatives. The display on The Lectric is far superior to the other two, but The Buzz is superior to The Rad's display, includimg a USB charging port. It is also larger and easier to read than either. The Buzz has The Lectric's big tires, but tread much better for rail trails and streets. The Buzz comes with cheaper mechanical brakes than either, but easily upgraded. The Buzz's seven gears, to take advantage The Mid-drive, are very, very significant. You'll know it every time you approach even a small hill. Still, internal gears would be far superior for all three and it is a shame. You can shift an IGH stopped, coasting and really good IGH's can be shifted while pedaling lightly. I am a little concerned about all the speed references. In Europe, you aren't getting that much assist on an e-BIKE. Pedelecs were not developed take cycling faster. It was take traditional cycling easier, more convenient and accessible. The average touring cyclist only rides 12.5mph. Speeding e-bikes are getting us kicked off a lot of MUP's.

Lectric XP Trike arrives in two days. Made up my mind fairly soon after they started shipping. I may be in the minority but although I am 62 I bought the XP Trike for fun. Although I may need it sooner than I would like to admit. I wish there was an option to increase the speed to least 18 mph. Once you gain experience on a trike you know what speeds are safe for different situations and ride accordingly. Top speed is irrelevant while negotiating difficult or changing terrain.
@elliotflorida3469
@elliotflorida3469 Жыл бұрын
Most trikes like these would not be comfortable or safe at 18mph. I have had my XP trike for just a few days and really, really like it. If you are looking to pedal along, the speed limit is realistically only about 9mph because there is no peddling resistance above that speed. I have pretty much only used PAS 1 and occasionally PAS 2 to get over some small bridges in my area. You and I are around the same age. Personally, I want and need to be able to get a bit of exercise when I ride. And like you, have some fun and relaxation. And of course, have a safe and enjoyable ride. And I am never in a rush when I ride. I just want to enjoy the sunshine, breeze and scenery. The XP provides ALL that! It is extremely well designed and build quality is very, very high. If you want to get somewhere fast without pedaling, you may need a 2nd option that is meant for higher speeds and offers increased stability and safety. By the way, I believe the XP is capable of being easily adjusted for higher speeds. Easy as in taking seconds to do without any hardware adjustments, rather just making a simple adjustment in the settings menu. BUT I am not going to try to do it nor am I going to share the info for safety reasons. I doubt that I will ever intentionally ride it at speeds that I cannot pedal at other than when coasting down a slope. If I need to get somewhere fast, I will take my car! Keep in mind that at higher speeds, the steering becomes extremely sensitive, and I believe a simple wrong amount of turn or unintentional jerk of the handlebars could easily cause the rider to flip over at higher speeds. Hope you will post your thoughts on the XP after you have received it and used it a bit.

While 14 mph may seem slow, it's perfectly fine to take this shopping or for a nice little ride with enough speed that you would be pedaling a normal bike at a decent speed. Some times when I'm riding my ebike if I put it on PAS 3 and with cruise control on it's around 15-16 mph(26-27km/h with the 52v battery at full voltage) but absolutely sips power, like we're talking hovering around 3-4 amps from a 15 amp battery and it's perfectly adequate for normal biking trails where there are pedestrians, other cyclists, etc. You're still mostly passing everyone except the spandex crowd on their Cannondales, but slow enough to be not super aggressive and able to stop really quickly. Sometimes I even put it on PAS 1 (10mph) or PAS 2 (12-13 mph) If I'm riding with friends with pedal bikes and it's still fast enough if you are just on a quiet bike trail to get your around faster than you think.

Thanks; this is a GREAT video. I have an Acquired Brain Injury and for the last ten years my balance has been so bad that I couldn't ride a regular bike (I can STILL ride them; it's just that I fall over on the silly things). In a similar vein, I can still drive a car; it's just that I keep running into things. I've had to stop rationalizing this with 'it's THEIR problem for stopping in front of me' and look for alternative methods of transportation. These trikes certainly fill the bill for me. I can still walk, but just barely. I get too tired from walking any distance anymore. I presently have a scooter, which has been fine. I can take it into the grocery stores and do my shopping and other things, but I'm finding the range of the scooter is not very good. I was originally looking into this trike only for the better range, but I'm finding some very good things that are beyond this factor. The ONLY thing which I would add to these two trikes; and ANY trikes that are being offered as mobility aids; is to put the two wheels at the front of the bike and the single wheel behind. Doing this would eliminate the problem of instability at higher speeds. But this is a minor complaint. It's nice to see that these companies have considered the limitations of people such as myself with things such as the lower step-through clearance and the coaster-type brakes. Thanks for doing this; I'm presently trying to order a trike, but I keep having problems clearing my credit card:(. Oh well...:). But I'll certainly make my purchase with a much more clear idea of what I'm doing thanks to you.

Yes. More trike videos. I want to see what they become. Tilting reverse? Another great video guys. Fair and objective. I bought the Lectric Trike for mobility, as you carefully point out. Thanks for that. So for those folks with hand troubles, I suggest the Rad with the coaster brake. Or for reverse. But in every other category, come on. In my case, my feet are of little use, so hand brakes on the Lectric are the way to go. I still had to add aftermarket pedals so my feet wont fall off and I get what's known as "leg suck". They also allow me to actually pedal and they provide a very forgiving release in any shoe. One more thing about pedaling... it's geared to be mostly useless after about 10 mph, so use the throttle. But believe me that's ok. I totally enjoy full days winding along all the waterfront and boardwalks in my area at a fairly brisk 1-9 mph pace and still climb hills whenever I want, which I have a lot. (My pedals are called Power Grip Pedals that I bought somewhere else)

I ordered an Lectric XP Trike before finding this video but I would make the same choice now that I have seen it. I bought my eTrike to primarily use it for shopping especially in grocery and department stores. I currently use the store's electric shopping carts but many times they are all in use or not fully charged and I run out of gas before my shopping is complete. The one thing that impressed me about the Rad was the reverse mode. I don't know what the turning radius is for the Lectric XP. Will it make a u-turn in a Walmart aisle? The electric shopping carts often will not and I have to use reverse to get turned around.

@@EbikeEscape I spoke to the "greeter" at the local store today and she assured me that there would be no problem using my trike in the store but I can't count on her statement to be accepted by other stores or other greeters. But with the Americans With Disabilities Act looking over their shoulder, it would be risky for Walmart or similar stores to refuse entry. I measured the store's electric shopping carts and the trike's length and width are almost the same. I also saw another video where a trike rider made a u-turn on a typical sidewalk which appeared to be much more narrow than a store aisle. So I can't imagine why a store would refuse entry. After all, the cart I don't use will be available for another disabled person.

@@kevinnashskitchen3517handlebars are easily amd cheaply change. Rad does have more comfortable geometry and steel, especially round tubes, naturally absorbs vibration like nothing else (butted tubing would be even better, not just lighter)...not that it in any way justifies this rediculous price difference.

Thanks for the good review of both . I had to give up bike riding due to disability. I think I’d like the Lectric model but I only just saw the trike and think I missed the chance for the extra items they were offering. Still it’s is a much better price point than what Rad is offering. Thanks for showing the comparison you did a great job.

I can't say enough good things about this comparison video. I'm planning an e-trike purchase and it's so hard when you can't test-drive them all yourself! I know I'm not the main target market, but I would *love* to see a comparison with a geared e-trike (maybe the sixthreezero EVRYjourney, which I'm also considering). I love everything about the Lectric except that the gearing practically limits the top speed you can reach by pedaling; I'm wondering how fast you can get in practice on a straight trail.

The video I watched before this was about an anti-bike lane rally. One of their arguments was that building it was ableist and ageist because seniors wouldn't be able to use it. That doesn't seem to be the case. I imagine some disabled folks could use it as well, with guidance at the 2mph setting.

If it might help, I bought my XP trike through Affirm. You should have that choice at checkout, and you can choose what financing length of time you want. You have to have a checking account because they automatically deduct your payment every month, so you would want to order it at the time of month that you know you could make that payment. 😊😊

I was convinced that Lectric was the one for me, and I ordered it. However, it's now been two weeks since I ordered and they have provided 0 information about when I will receive the trike. Very poor customer experience. I have no idea when it will ship or what the delay is. My brother-in-law ordered an ebike from Rad and got it within a few days, and has been happily riding it for weeks. If speed of getting your bike is important to you, take that into consideration. I wouldn't even mind waiting, if they would only communicate an estimated time frame or where it is in the process. The order says "preparing for shipping" but that is obviously not true - it doesn't take to weeks to "prepare for shipping." Is it en route from an offshore manufacturer? Is it being built? When is it expected? Simple communication is all it takes to make customers happy. Most of us are reasonable people who understand delays, but we expect communication.

There are many factors that affect range. I believe the data provided by Lectric is reasonably accurate. I have only had my XP Trike for a few days and expect to exceed the ranges they provide. I am on track to likely reach around 60 miles of range after my 1st charge. I thought I might need to purchase a 2nd batter for long rides, but it will absolutely not be necessary. I have only had the XP for a few days and love it so far. It has exceeded my expectations. My conclusion is that this bike is meant to typically be peddled in PAS 1 with speed in a range of 7-10 miles per hour. For those who cannot pedal much, PAS 1 and PAS 2 are the best and safest choices offering reasonable acceleration and safe speeds. And the trike operates extremely well and efficiently in this mode. Above 10 mph, there is no need to pedal (because the bike has no gears and there is no resistance). I chose this bike for numerous reasons, but driving fast is not one of them. And I absolutely want to pedal 100% of the time if I am able to. I am in a relatively flat area, with just a few small bridges. I do switch to PAS 2 to go over them.

Best to compare the size of the batteries and then take a look at Rad's/Lectric's estimates to get an idea. They are both pretty good at giving you an idea but range varies so much depending on a variety of factors that it's difficult for us to talk in absolutes.

Hi, I really enjoy your videos. I like that U do all the comparisons & give us as much detail & information that we may need to make an informed decision on the product . I am doing my research on the ebike trikes & the XP from Letric keeps coming up. I do want a little more zippyness, I kno U said the max speed is 14 mph, BUT can it be adjusted to maybe 22 or 25 mph in the settings? I'm not saying I will be going that fast, I jus want to kno it's an option. If so, do U have a video on passing certain settings to allow that? I won't be going off roading w/it, but I will want to take it camping & there will be loose gravel, a little hills to ride it down to the lake w/my husband on his 43 mph e-bike😂. Thank U Angela 54yrs.YOUNG😊
