​@s_shake You should never say impossible to anything. In 2020 discord had a vulnerability which allowed the attacker to not only have your IP but also your whole computer compromised, and the user never had to leave the discord app.

As a programmer, who works with networks and IP tracking. IPs are about as useful as looking for a needle in a haystack. IPs are only bound to city/regional locations, my public IP will always show I'm living 10 cities over because its showing up as my ISPs server-farm. Even if you try to go as accurate you'll literally just find the county I'm in. Also best way to protect yourself (if you're that scared of your IP leaking). 1. Disconnect your modem, wait a minute or two, reconnect. Most ISPs (a lot of them actually) use rotating IPs and not static ones, the IP you get is yours until your modem restarts. The most risk you'll run into by having your IP leaked is DDoS attacks and even then it will be mitigated by your ISP long before you even notice. But, with all said. It is a nice educational video.

Not exactly, man. You're partially right, but there are some things you're overlooking and it is pretty obvious you aren't a programmer. First, IP accuracy depends on several factors. While it's true that most public IPs only provide a rough regional estimate (usually pointing to a city or county), some ISPs assign IPs that are much more accurate and can pinpoint a user's location with surprising precision. The level of accuracy depends on how the ISP manages its IP address pools, and smaller ISPs or fiber networks often allocate IPs that are closer to a user’s actual location. Second, your IP doesn’t always change when restarting your modem. Many ISPs use dynamic IPs, but that doesn’t guarantee that restarting your modem will give you a new one. Some ISPs lease IPs for days, weeks, or even months at a time, meaning your IP might stay the same even after multiple reboots. In fact, many ISPs tie an IP address to a device’s MAC address, so unless that changes (for example, by changing your router or waiting for a longer period), you will likely receive the same IP again. Third, DDoS protection isn't always automatic or effective. While some ISPs provide mitigation, not all do it efficiently or in real time. If someone targets your connection with a strong enough DDoS attack, you will experience disruptions, especially if you're on a home ISP without built-in filtering or if the attack is sustained over a long period. an IP leak isn’t just a DDoS risk. While DDoS attacks are the most common concern, exposing your IP can also make you vulnerable to social engineering, phishing attempts, and ISP tracking. While an IP alone isn’t enough to hack someone, it’s still a valuable piece of information that, when combined with other data, can be used to identify and locate a person more precisely. an IP leak isn’t necessarily the end of the world, it’s still something worth avoiding especially if you’re gaming, streaming, or engaging in online activities where bad actors might try to target you. please dont tell people your a programmer if you aren't a programmer It is extremely obvious you aren't a programmer that "works in network and ip tracking".

6:10 If you have fallen victim to this attack and believe your Public IP was grabbed, immediately turn your router off and then on again! Most ISPs give out Dynamic IP Addresses. Upon rebooting the router you will be given a new IP address, thus being invulnerable to the attackers DDoS. If you have a static IP Address and you are (scared of) being DDoSed, instead contact your Provider and they should be able to allocate a new IP Address for you!
